- The iPhone 14 Pro deserves a long term user review so I've been using it exclusively for more than 2 months now. And after that time, I've got some thoughts about the iPhone 14 battery life, cameras, screen and more. So is the iPhone 14 worth it? Or is this the best iPhone you can buy in 2022?

I always say y’all making the wrong comparisons, no one with a 13 pro is out out contemplating upgrading, it’s those with older models who are thinking about upgrading
Agree.
True, way too many videos out there comparing 13 Pro to 14 Pro! I was contemplating both too but I wasn’t going to be saving much with the 13 Pro. Moreover, I am not the type to upgrade every year anyway. So I chose the 14 Pro. Without a phone plan they are only 400MYR apart, with a phone plan the price difference is 669MYR. If I spread that over 3.5 years which is the average time iPhone users take to upgrade, then you don’t even think about that amount in a year. 😊
I’m one of those tech nerds (suckers) who upgrade every year. We do exist. The last cycle I skipped was the 7 series. Just went 13PM > 14P. The upgrade does feel a bit weak and I wouldn’t have gone 14PM I don’t think, wanted to try moving back to the non-max size.
I'm an apple employee. in Saudi Arabia. everyone is fucking upgrading bro
@@Tarwada_ i live in saudi arabia and everyone is upgrading 😂😂 these people are getting affected by marketing so much
I chose the iphone 13 pro max coming from an ipad user because i didnt want an ipad anymore
I have a friend who upgraded from a 12 pro max to a 14 pro max but i guess its more reasonable than 13 to 14
Overall when i borrowed his 14 pro max the camera wasnt noticably better but the front camera was slightly better especially in low light
The battery wasn’t much better id say maybe like very very slightly better? If not just the same
Its not worth it
The always on display was fun and the dynamic island was kinda fun too but thats only because its new and different, youll get used to it after a while
Dynamic island can get distracting when playing games or watching videos compared to the previous models but its not a big deal
If you have the 13 pro max then its only worth it upgrading if you want to and have the money for it
From 12 pro though it is worth it but I suggest wait till 15 so 14 price will drop
Coming from a S22+ user, I left my always-on-display on showing whenever there is notification.
Not distracting and notifies me at the right time too.
You take some of the best photography I seen any review retake. It really shows off the camera quality in capabilities. - iPhone Pro Max User
Oh and the audio too! Pretty crisp!
For real. I was watching them in awe haha. I’ve been to Greece but those shots made me want to go again this year
Its great that your channel is doing long term reviews!!
Thank you for the review. It is straight to the point. I have moved from Iphone 7 to 14 Pro and the jump is enormous. I am really glad. The 14 Pro Max is too big to me when I have it on my hand. That is why I recommend 14 Pro.
Coming from an almost 8 year old iPhone 6s Plus with the original battery lasting for 1.5h and having it plugged in for the most part of the day, a day and half of battery life is gonna be a huge upgrade and I honestly I don’t care if someone think it’s not good enough 😄
Now in regards to notifications I think this is good and the way it should have been done long ago, it keeps your screen clean and all you need is a swipe of a finger to look at them, I don’t see a problem with that at all.
Easily the best phone ever. The size, the weight, software, battery, build quality. Apple have nailed it. I traded my 14 Plus for the Pro. Couldn't be happier.
Video aesthetic 🔥🔥🔥
And the information in the video just mind blowing 🔥💯
I freaking love the new notification system! It’s useful and stays out of the way until you really want to view them.
I upgraded from the 8 Plus to the 14 Pro and it has been great. I only use the dynamic island for timers and it is nice to see other things like the low battery notifications there but most of the time I forget that it is there. The camera and the battery upgrade has been incredible. And I also disabled the Always on display on my first day; I don't like how it just dims. I might try it again with iOS 16.2
Been using the dev beta of 16.2 for a few days now, the ACTUAL always on display mode really makes a difference.
Dude you kidding me? same here. after 5 years of service, 8+ had been retired 😅. finally a worthy upgrade
Ooh congratulations on the amazing upgrade!! I'm using an 8+ too since the past 5 years and been confused about upgrading to a 14 or 14 pro. How's your experience with it so far ? I do need a better camera as I'm looking into content creation in tiktok and instagram, idk if 14 is enough or if I should go for the 14 pro. I don't do professional photography it's more of lifestyle content I'm focusing on. Researched and watched many videos but everyone in the comments were upgrading from an 11, 12 or 13 model, so it wasn't that helpful in making a decision 😅
that's a big jump
@@husnaLWWYwith1D It's been great for me. I have only had a few minor issues. The camera is great, but for content creation the 13 pro or the 14 might be good enough. I would not consider getting the 14 and instead get a 13 or 13 pro since it has very small changes unless you can get them for similar prices
Long term Android user here. I currently have a Galaxy S21 with a case that allows me to sit my phone in the landscape position. I use the AOD mainly at night as a bedroom end table clock set to display in landscape at the lowest brightness setting. The way I see it is why waste money on a dedicated end table clock when my phone provides the same exact function and then some
As a former android user, I enjoyed always on display. It was a subtle, useful way to view time and notifications without needing to open my phone.
I like the AOD
Outstanding video with first class cinematography. Will put your excellent review to work on my own new iP14MP.
this was one of the best ip14pro reviews on youtube!🌟
Upgraded from XS Max to 14 Pro Max.
Pros - 120 hz is a dream, screen is larger, very fast processor, longer battery life, amazing camera.
Cons - No 3d touch (didn't thought i would miss it that much) but eventually you will get use to the hold gesture.
Been using AOD on all of my phones since I got a OnePlus 3t in 2016, super useful to see the time without touching my phone if I happen to forget my watch
I love you review and how you explained everything very deeply, also your voice and tone are great!
"Always On" implementation for the 14 Pro doesn't look quite how I imagined!
I really liked how it was done on the old Moto X (2014). Any incoming notifications would bring up monochromatic, minimalist icons and clock display. Didn't light up parts of the screen unnecessarily.
Also liked how the screen would stay blank, until you waved your hand over it which would then display any notification icons at a glance.
the Moto X was amazing
iOS 16.2’s (soon to be out of beta) implementation of “AOD” is MUCH better.
It sucks never stays on apple sucks
I prefer the wallpaper AOD over the basic black one, it’s more expressive so i keep it on.
Hey, it's always nice seeing Greece in completely unrelated videos! Hope you enjoyed your stay at Santorini, even though it's a tourist trap because of the gauged prices.
I personally am fine with e-sim and never was one to swap sim cards anyway (don't travel much out of the USA). What people are worried about is if US carriers use e-sim as a way to charge customers every time they swap phones (used or new) or use it somehow to lock a phone to a carrier's network.
Great comprehensive review ❤
I still use an iPhone SE (2016) daily running iOS 15. I’ve had it for more than 6 years now. I hate some things about Apple, but their phones are built to last and they maintain the software to go with it.
I’ve got a deep purple one from Canada. It’s nice because you have esim and physical options, more options are objectively better. It isn’t like the SIM card free models got anything beneficial in place of the slot
Only the SIM-free models get 5G mmWave (UWB) antennas, but the value is super questionable.
i upgraded from Mi 11 Lite 5G NE to Iphone 14 Pro and my experience is a whole lot different. It is worth the upgrade, indeed. it is also my first iphone ever.
yeah thats why it was worth, but if u already are on a recent version, its kinda not
Xiaomi’s software experience is dogshit (speaking from experience)
@@Okamineamen to that. I tried to use xiaomi cos i am tired of using one ui but after 2 weeks i went back to samsung. On android world, it's still the best for me until I can go back to iOS.
and just when i needed them the most, the canucks deliver
muchas gracias
I myslef is huge fan of AOD on android phones , as its less distracting and provides the basics info, without draining out much battery .
I've had a Note 20 Ultra the last 2.5 years and have used the always on display the entire time. At first I didn't care about it but now I think it's almost a deal breaker if a phone doesn't have it. Android just shows a dim date time and notification icons so it's not a distraction but it's nice to just be able to look at your phone and see those things without having to wake up the screen.
Forget about the review, I truely amazed by the photographs and sceneries.
really loving the photos
Great review - thank you!
Great video as usual, ordered my 14 pro max a month ago. finally shipped the other day. upgrading from a 13 pro max.
Great video for a great device Eber! I hope you did enjoy your vacation here in Greece too! :D
Great photos mate! I hope you enjoyed Greece
Excellent review. Ty.
I love ur editing bro
Can you make a tutorial on how to take photos and edit them in lightroom? Those sample shots you took were absolutely phenomenal and i would love to watch a tutorial on how to take better mobile photos.
I love me some Hardware Canucks long-term tech reviews. More more!!
I upgraded from the 11 pro 128 gb to the 14 pro 256 gb and I rarely ever put my phone down now. It’s the best phone I’ve ever had.
I upgraded for a regular iPhone 11 to the 14 pro I will say I’ve noticed that the battery life is about the same if not slightly worse than I remember my 11 being brand new. That being said I have been using the always on display but just the time and notifications on not the wallpaper. I do like it because I can see what song is playing when the phone is mounted on my dash without having to turn it on, and distract myself from the road. But other than that the dynamic island is great and the cameras are even better. I’d say if you have an 11 or older this is a perfect upgrade but if I had a 12 like my friend I would probably hold out another year for the 15.
I have a routine on my S22 where AOD enables when charging, and disables when taken off the charger
Someone hire this man to be a narrator for some movie or something!
What CZcamsrs believe I think of as a long term review: 1 month
What I really think of as a long term review: 1-2 years
Please don’t take it personal 😅
Only problem is that people dont’t buy 2 year old phones. I think maybe 6 months is the sweet spot when the price drops significantly on most tech.
Lol😂😂😂
@@richardKeyteroguess I'm the exception then, literally bought an iPhone X this year because my 7 broke
@@schtormm Nothing wrong with that, i’ve bought older used phones before as well.
The majority of people doesn’t buy 2 year old phones new from the store.
@@richardKeytero exactly, and even if we did, the price difference isn’t much. Most would rather spend a 100-200 dollars for a newer year model that has much better features
As a greek i hope you enjoyed our country .If u visit again keep in mind that not only our islands are great but our inland too and much cheaper ! Great video , the only true negative for iphones is the price. As an android user i can find a flagship android from 1-2 year ago 50% of its price so its a no brain move for someone with a not big budget.
Even for someone who is not interested in buying an iPhone 14 Pro this video would be quite nice to watch . It is soo smooth and professional. Thanks for the content!
It’s been only two and half month’s since the 14 series has been launched. How can it be a long term user review?
What would you define as long-term? Everyone’s definition of long-term will vary. Two and a half months using the phone should be enough for most people to give a reasonable opinion on how it’s going and experience with it. In my opinion.
Considering most phone reviews are based off 1-2 weeks of use, 2 and a half months could be seen as a long term usage for reviews
How much time do you need to explore a phone features?
@@georgeicarus3874 not a lot tbh but theres always updates that can impact the experience over time. Plus there may also be potential hardware issue that may only show itself after a few months of rigourous use.
U done crying by now?
Ahh, those Santorini shots !! 😍
I got lucky to have been able to receive my 14 Pro Max at the end of November’22. I had watched prior reviews about the camera bump when laying it flat but I knew it would not bother me as it just reminds me that I have an awesome camera. I bought the 1 terabyte one so for content creators out there I strongly suggest you get it too. There’s no sense in having one not even at 512 GB unless you’re planning on using the video recording for only 30 second clips when on the go.
I love the 14 pro,we have 3 here and 1 standard 14,no issues. I also like the AOD,it actually uses 0.8% battery with background on and 0.6% with just black per hour. So the same battery usage as an android phone with the AOD except it’s actually more useful.
thanks for the great info about iPhone 14.
Is there any competition
So efficient. Thank u
I like your wallpaper bro! Very nice.
Great review 😊
android user and that always on display saves your batter so much changing music checking time with just a black screen
real good review!
I loved how u mentioned "Pixel" while coughing 🤭
Went from an XS Max on 13.5 jailbroken, to a 14 Pro Max on 16.4 and it’s been wonderful. The only downside is no more adblock, but a scary amount of performance increase with the AI features on the backend and efficient advertising. I avoid wireless charging to not add too much heat and degrade the battery so much. The camera and screen have been the most noticeable changes.
'efficient advertising'?
Didn’t know you yet, but 3:59 reminded me of leaving a like and a sub
Upgraded from an iPhone 6s…Which is just the best iPhone I fell in love with, yes I know it’s ancient….. but the iPhone 14 Pro is simply out of this world. You don’t appreciate the major and minor upgrades from iPhone 7 thru to 13 not forgetting the X series. Can’t wait for my next upgrade to the iPhone 20 or perhaps XX
I turned off the always on display for most of the time
I sometimes turn it on cause it kinda looks nice but usually I don’t need it and it’s just really distracting when I have it on a desk
GREAT VIDEO !!!!!
I’ve had the 14 pro max since October and I think the processing got better over time
I feel like at the start they had the Google Pixel 6 problem where they kept the processing at the max even tho the bigger sensor didn’t need it so photos ended up looking overprocessed but now it’s far more natural
agree, night mode still needs a huge revamp to compete with pixel/samsung; it feels is the same the last 2 gens, no tweak at all... hope they improve it on the 15
Which IOS do you have? Mine still looks SO over-processed :(
@@gofasofrimus iOS 16.2
It still does give an overpocessed result every now and then but it’s been happening less and less
@@ghfsd786fa I mean I came from an 11 and most my friends have an S21 ultra and we’re all dumbfounded at the 14 pro’s night mode
the last part where he said: "and please, spend responsibly"
I guess I'm not upgrading for now 😅
I switched from a S20 to iPhone 14 Pro mainly because of battery life. Really love the iPhone, battery life is amazing compared to the S20, iOS is awesome, the whole phone just feels so much more fluid than any other Samsung I‘ve ever had. But I still think that I liked the auto image processing of the S20 a bit more, the colors were more vibrant, the iPhone tends to process colder images.
Getting the apps where they are supposed to be on the homescreen was a nightmare compared to Android.
Other than that I’m perfectly happy with switching to Apple.
Oh and on Samsung I‘ve used always on since it was invented, on the iPhone I turned it off immediately. I’m excited for iOS 16.2 and the new always on display!
You can edit the Iphone to take all your pictures with more vibrance.
The battery is what has been keeping me from swapping to another device. Apple’s new iPhones have really great battery life for the performance you get! Would love to try a Galaxy again since it’s been ages since I last owned one.
You can use photographic styles to tune how it processes
There is a vibrant preset which is pretty similar to how samsung processes images but try to play around with it until you find something you like
the battery life of my iphone 14 pro max also sucks. only 8 hours on display time even always on is turned off. some ppl get 11-13 hours on display time with the ip 14 pro max. i hope the upcoming ios 16.2 update will improve the battery life of my iphone 14 pro max
@@alikoc1338 compared with Android with AMOLED display, AMOLED win because what ever black pixel, it mean the led actually off. That's why it save more battery.
On my s22 my always on display is enabled but I put the brightness to the lowest instead of automatic. That way the time and notification badges are not distracting but I can always glance over and see what I need without wasting extra battery with the screen always cranking brightness
Darn, those picture samples are well done! Excellent photographer
It's more than 5 years I own phones with AOD and almost never used it. Only occasionally. AOD showing charging information on Galaxy phones is awesome though.
I just ordered my iPhone 14 Pro and will get it in 3-4 days :D
I have a Pixel 7 Pro, and yes I have the AOD on - as I have every other phone I've had that's had one. It's so convenient.
you can change the notifications option from the settings
Using Samsung from s10+ to s21 ultra and always on "always on dispay" feature. It's useful!
AOD is a must. There was a time most smartphones used a notification light dot. You could easily tell which app sends you notifications just by looking at the color of that dot while your phone was sitting on the desk. AOD does similar job today but apple's notification system is terrible
I just bought mine on Dec 9th and I see how it goes after 2yrs time of use! 🤔📱🙂
Just got it, I like it
Always had my AOD turn on since they started implementing on Android. Just recently bought an IPhone 14 pro and glad that they finally implement AOD. Still prefer the all black background but i wish they implement notification icon instead.
iOS 16.2 beta has all background choices in settings, as well as not having notifications. So if you want a very basic AOD with just a clock, then that is OK.
Gonna need that wallpaper!
Did you find his wallpaper?
Ive been an android user for years and i don't use the always on display ever. I may be one of the few but I actually like the way iPhone implemented the AOD.
Watching on my 14 Pro❤
Thanks for the video bro... I just bought iPhone 14 pro space grey 1TB
I have the always on display active on my 14 pro max.. I like it and it doesn't really use that much battery but I don't use widgets as I found that was where the majority of the always on display battery use was going. Especially the weather widget contuniusly communicating with the internet and updating on the go. I don't find it distracting at all as for my eyes atleast I can tell the difference between the phone off or on. And I'm not the type who hangs of every single notification all day. I generally check notifications when I feel like picking up my phone or if I am expecting a notification, like a delivery or a message.. If its urgent people can always call me.
Nice video 👍🏻
This was awesome , well done.
Thank you so much :)
Music and dynamic island remembers me to WP when you press some of the volume button. So simple, not copied yet
Thank you🤗
Haven’t had any notifications problem. The latest notifications pop up on the screen. If I unlock the phone without touching them I can still see them by locking it and swiping up. So if your screen is empty it means you have not gotten any new notifications since you last unlocked the phone. Avoids notification overload which I really like.
Allways on display is a must
God-tier b-roll
That pic of the coffee cup around 7:25 looks so good. Can you send me a link to the original full-res image? I'd love to use that as a wallpaper.

Traded in my Iphone 13 pro max for the 14 pro max, and got it for like 500$. So far so good, and I love the dim feature on the always on display. I feel like its something new, and I love being able to see my new wallpapers at all times. battery has been pretty good, and it seems to be on par or not to far off from my old phone. I love it. 😁 dynamic island, and the camera are great upgrades, and I got the purple that looks amazing.
Thats dumb as hell
@@zfacersane272 How’s that?
Yeah I love the AOD
E-sim just means less user control. I don't want to have to get ahold of a carrier to move service from a broken phone to a new one. You tell yourself whatever lies you want to though.
