This was so much fun. So, so, so much fun. If you're interested in the template I use, check out this video : czcams.com/video/WBUIPaBHgz0/video.html
which headset are you using?
there are a couple of VR applications that would tie in with Ableton... 2 that ive tried briefly and own are.. Modulia studio, which establishes its own virtual port, a little limited/// but i recall the ability to tie in midi some midi channels and notes, with some limitations.
another application was Exa infinite instrument which again would allow you to use midi to control your Daw.
The trouble is... with EXA and Modulia... they will not support external screens within the application... and that will always be the challenge using music applications in VR
The possibilities that XR and VR offer for music production and performance are just so provocative. Thank you for sharing your experiences with it.
Just when I think you can't get any crazier, you some how manage to blow me away.
You should upgrade your headset to one with a passthrough camera (or turn that on if you if you have that option), then switch to using hand tracking rather than controllers. You can then see what you are looking at in the real world, so not only can you look and see the crowd behind your desktop virtual screens but you can look down and see your midi controllers. Using hand tracking you wont have to keep dropping and picking up the vr controllers.
Pretty impressive Tom.
i think quest 3 would be better for live dj sets , the passthru is a must , the best controller for live is push 2 or push 3 +akai midi mix
Hey brother you could take a Wii Remote and use the sensory tilt function and joystick stitched in a glove per say for example and set the parameters to Ableton on an instrument or midi track via to an automation ex. (X,Y,) parameter like an LFO know with tilt or any automation you would want. Basically using the Wii remote as a midi device and using tilt sensor and knob or whatever to as a clip, automation of a plugin on a track or instrument as you play you could move your hand to left or up to trigger or adjust desired impact towards your live show. But seeing how you have the VR gear in hand I guess it’s not really that cool. But just an idea
Looked and sounded great too :) was totally wondering what it must've looked like from your end so now I know.... Will be cool to see where this goes from here :)
Nice to know what you can do with Ableton.
