Vermillion was my first Slipknot song ever, and I was blown away. The music video version is shorter and cuts the guitar solo in half, amongst other things. The album version breathes more.
One of the very few cases where the full version is noticeably superior to the edit version.
@@prodigy84bgah the full versions are usually better than the video/radio edits, another good example being afterlife by A7X
@@puppetmaster8551 in my opinion, full versions are usually equally as good, as they mostly contain repeated sections. In Vermilion's case though, the full version contains some additional variation, which is cut off in the edit. In rare cases, I even prefer the edit version, for example Duality, where the track is more concise and to the point.

I always felt like this video is what ghost or spirits see on a daily basis! Like the world keeps turning and they are like stuck in between worlds! Great song and great reaction!
I see this video as depression. You feel alone. You reach for people, they are too busy to slow down for you. You feel stuck all while the world keeps going. So the depression builds. Until she broke down in the train station. Unable to find some solace. Again, while people were too busy to stop their day and check on her. Ultimately, finding some solace in the butterfly that slowed down enough for her to have some kind of connection.
Corey will often refer to a she. But "she" isn't a physical person. She is in place of something. Like depression for this. Or, the music industry in another song.
It's actually about the cryptic views from a stalker's perspective.

I can't believe this was nearly 20 years ago... I remember when this Slipknot album ('Volume 3') came out in 2004... I went to see their tour (w/ Fear Factory and Chimaira) before the album came out because it had been 3 years since they last played in 2001, and they were on fire 🔥🤘🤘 They played all-new songs that night which the audience had never heard.
When they played 'Vermillion Pt.1'... they put on masks that were like the music video - made of their actual faces, and it looked disturbing, especially w/ the coveralls they wear... the band members wearing expressionless faces of their own faces is not something I recall anyone doing.
Sadly, that original Slipknot is no more - bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison have both passed away... Chris Fehn (percussion) and Craig Jones (keyboard/ samples) have both left the band.
Had no idea Craig was gone. Now we know where to look when the bodies start washing up. These masks are death masks btw

I’d known about slipknot for a year before I started listening to them but this video was my first experiencing them for myself outside of seeing pics of them and I gotta say you nailed it. I was 14 at the time and I felt like a cooler person after watching it this. Hearing this song with the video for the first time was an experience. It’s probably in my top 5 favorite songs of all time and over the past 20 years this song has gotten me through some hard times

Fun Trivia. Corey wrote the Vermilion songs about his ex-wife. The title is a synonym for her name, Scarlett. Both Scarlet and Vermilion are defined as "a brilliant red color."

ray bro, its about a serial killer stalking a lady that has no friends. there is a before and after video for this song. its kinda crazy, but the first video is the killer stalking a single target thats why time essentially moves around her, and thats "all he can see" in the second version of the song he has killed this poor dame and she is essentially a rag doll. its all crazy bro..

@@RuTnVI the lead singer said himself in an interview that it was through a perspective of unhealthy behavior and obsession and there may be points of longing and desire but it is mainly just the vision a stalker has and tells a story about a lonely woman who has no friends and things seem to not go well for her as she doesn't really seem to have a purpose other than to be alone. Driven by Dark tendencies, the Stalker ultimately finds her and kills her before keeping her corpse. Read the lyrics and you'll see what I mean I just searched it up.

I highly recommend the album version, it's my favorite Slipknot song. In the music video, so much is cut out, and they are some of the best parts in my opinion.
Pt.2 is one of my av songs from Slipknot. Even if it differ from that of their usual aggressive style. Perhaps that's why I like it so much. It's a great calm track from them. Check it out.

I think it was the last time the OG 9 members of Slipknot were together and that show (at least to me) set a new precedence for what Metal shows can be as they were firing on all cylinders and personally i think it made history as one of the best shows period. Specially nearing the end!

I was today years old when I found out that this song is written from the point of view of a stalker. Knowing the lyrics like I do, I’m now conflicted because it absolutely makes sense and that’s creepy to like something like this.

Imagine if Alice Cooper and Gene Simmons had a baby together, and you give that child a band on System of a Downs level but make all of them theatrical as fuck! You would have the band Avatar. From Gothenburg, Sweden! I believe they are a band that will impress you. Hail The Apocalypse and Bloody Angel both have millions of views and are good starting points to dive into the facepainted Circus of metal that is Avatar
Personally part 1 is way better than 2. This one conveys haunting and beautiful vibes with heavy sound. Part 2 is okay but not really impressive. Certainly soft, mellow acoustic version can be easily accepted but what the band shows their real one is part 1.

Yeah I heard this version on the radio a while back. The studio version is so much better with the longer intro, outro, and solo.
