Thanks, you inspired me to build my son's bearded dragon terrarium lid. It's not a standard terrarium size, so this is a great justification for getting more toys and building!
Mark Duncanson glad I could help. Yeah the techniques I used here can be modified to fit just about any shape terrarium. And who doesn’t like new toys! Lol
You made it look so easy. And that lid looks amazing 👍
Excellent job IMHO you've set the framework for a Lid I need on 120 tank, 3 door. well done.
I love this, it was so zen. LOVE THE WOOD DONK @ 3:08 It's so satisfying for some reason.
GrayJay Jumba thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
i like the tools your using to make the pocket holes , now i just need more money for more tools lmao
Nice work, thanks for posting! Have a fantastic day!
GoTrails thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. You have a fantastic day also!
It’s a good idea I might have to try this but with smaller wire because it’s for a snake lol but it looks great!
Yeah you can follow the same steps and just use a different wire
Great idea this is awesome
Glad you liked it!
Helpful thanks 😊
Claire Young glad it helped!
Your lid is the best on CZcams and I am going to do this for the new tank we got for my sons snake using screen in place of chicken wire. Did you measure the full outside of the tank and just add an inch on all sides for the inside rails?
Honey thanks! Glad you like it. The outside rim of the lid fits snug to the outside of the tank. I measured the outside dimensions of the tank and only added 1/8 in to the dimensions so it is a snug fit. For a snake you’ll want to make sure the lid fits right to the tank so the snake can’t push it up and get out
@@SomethingJackMakes awesome, thank you so much!
The pieces you added at the end to hold the doors up, you should have put the under the frame so the top was flat.
I agree. That would have made the top look cleaner. I didn’t want to loose space in the opening tho.
Do you do custom orders?
What size forstner bit did you use? I’m
building this too soon and am collecting all of the needed tools and materials
I used a 3/4” forstner bit for mine. You want to match the bit to the size dowel you use. I’d suggest using some scrap wood to test the fit as some time 3/4” dowel form a big box store isn’t really 3/4”.
What kind of build or wood would you recommend for a boa? I'm going to use locks and dresser door knobs instead of the hinges because of cost lol. 25$ for 4 hinges. She is 5ft and weighs about 20+lbs.
Pine boards from a home improvement store would be fine. Just be sure to seal them.
How many pieces of each lumber did you end up needing? Would love to build this, this weekend.
Depends on your size of tank. And what length wood you can get. I think I used like 5 1”x3”x8’ for the part of the lid that connects to the tank. And 5 or 6 1”x2”x6’ for the doors.
Very helpful, but how do you fit the lighting?
Bratty Princess the heat lamp sits on the smallest lid door and I don’t open that one. The other 2 lid doors have the UVB lights zip tied to the top of them. So they move with the lid. If that makes sense
Ahhh okay, thankyou! ❤️
Do you have a PDF with material, and directions for sale?
I don’t have any specific plans for sale. The video gives you instruction and it can be customized to any size tank.
Make mine lol
You aren’t worried about any escape bugs getting through that chicken wire? Haha
Lizz W I hand feed any live feeders so they don’t run and hide or climb out.
