Don't Let's Start! - DGS/The Great Ace Attorney Animatic

- the first 54 chapters of my fic has been condensed down and set to a They Might Be Giants song. Across the Sea, You and Me is from kazuma asougi's pov, but this animatic is from sherlock's perspective because i like him. he's just like... a dad :-)
to explain what's going on here, my fic is a for want of a nail story - think the butterfly effect, small changes lead to big changes - and the animatic explores some changes from canon that don't have screentime in my fic. the fic is basically canon but that leads to a character i liked from 2-5 staying alive. and also at about chapter 90 kazuma and ryuunosuke start to date. this video is supposed to be a little bittersweet, because the end of arc 1 is where canon leaves off... but it'd be like if the cast had more agency than everyone at the end of toy story 4. because the end of tgaa2/dgs2 makes me feel like that :/
i started thumbnailing this after i wrote chapter 87 which was super close to tying up the original case i wrote - my fic technically features like 3 ocs that tie into sherlock canon because i wanted another case but couldn't just recycle old dgs characters (even though i like them). i like it when fans make animatics of games they like but i wrote my fic so i didn't have to deal with where 2-5 leaves everyone. so that's why the animatic is the way it is :-)
since i don't know if i'll have time to explain it in the story itself, i'll explain the first small change from canon here. so here's your warning for spoilers

the first small change is pre-canon when sherlock overhears the telegram message. after he sends a letter off and gets a request to tail kazuma and susato, he makes a big boy adult dad decision to explain his absence to iris and to ask his neighbor and trusted coworker tobias gregson who thinks he's just so cool (except don't tell sherlock that gregson doesn't think he's cool) to look after iris until he gets back... gregson of course says yes because he's nice to kids and iris is literally the babiest of babies. we all love her in this house. and sherlock also tells gregson what he heard on the telegram. gregson tries to play this information off, but ends up telling sherlock to tie up loose ends before they become loose ends, which is cryptic. iris also does her thing and overhears the conversation although she doesn't know what it means. this little change here amounts to not much. gregson holds onto this, internalizes the fact sherlock was willing to share that info, and keeps absolutely quiet about it because it's tied to iris, but... he still knows about it months in advance. iris holds onto it as just another thing she should keep quiet about because she's a kid, and sherlock takes this with him as he handles the aftermath of 1-2 a little differently.

the most fun i had was writing that fake news article about the aftermath of 1-3 so i'll type what i had planned here bc the short of it is the reporter wants to swing in the old bailey scales. i made it up for the video and i think it's silly. as a disclaimer, don't be like this fictional news reporter. they've got the spirit but... they probably need to stick to like, normal swingsets- news article from nearly a minute in, here:
FOREIGN ATTORNEY SPOTTED LEAVING OLD BAILEY AFTER THE REAPER GOT HIS FIERY REVENGE! REPORTER FOUND FLIPPED FOR GETTING CLOSE!
This photo was taken after a very scary and tense few minutes of dodging and weaving through several quickly placed barricades for "stopping the public". You heard it here first, folks! Our fire department aims to "stop the public from running into burning buildings"! One has to ask, though, if our pounds are going to this sort of response from our newly established "fire department" - which don't even start fires, if you didn't already know - why are barristers given front row seats? I asked the barrister and her assistant to pose for a photograph, which went rather well until I asked her how things went. This reporter would've reported on the trial that occurred if not for being flipped by the young lady herself. Let this be a lesson to every London citizen. It's never polite to ask a man his age or a woman how her first trial went, especially if she's not actually a barrister. And that assumption may be on me, but no one reads my articles for the court cases, they read it for the upcoming news. And the word on the street is that we, as London citizens, are scarcely allowed our God-given right to do as we so please! And the culprit this time... is the same as always. Our fire department.
It really begs the question, just what is the point of having two bonfires at all? If the Old Bailey is so flammable that one little omnibus catching aflame leads to a whole courtroom closing then one really must ask what "safety" even is? And will this lead to indoor fireworks being deemed unsafe? And if this sole reporter wanted to climb up the white scale we always keep burning in there, will our fire department go onto say I can't? It's a right shame, I say. I do! I do say it's a shame, and a loss! Anyone should be able to climb up on in there, they really should! And if they didn't want to stop there, if they wanted to bring a bucket and douse the scales and swing around in them, it's our God-given right as ordained by the Queen herself that we should! Why, that is to say, that if the Reaper may be given front row seats to a bonfire the likes of which only the best party-throwers could hope to achieve, that I should be allowed to do as I so please. And what I'm pleased to do is continue to sit in on cases in the Old Bailey from the balcony and dream of a day where we'll all be allowed to soar through the halls as barristers young and old argue about whatever it is they do.
I love this! The art is so expressive and clean, and I really enjoy getting to look at the sequence of events of TGAA through Holmes' perspective! I can't get enough of his guilty expression when Ryuunosuke and Susato are angry at Nikomina for "killing" Kazuma.

and it's a teen and up fanfic, so expect it to be about what you'd expect from canon.
as in, the first third is canon, so read the first chapter table of contents if u just wanna see the new stuff
the fic itself is kazumas pov almost the whole way thru, so be mindful of that, bc the video from sherlock's pov was for fun :-)
also, it's on a hiatus bc my real life work is keeping me extremely busy, but you can more or less consider it done? i have like a few short chapters left to finish... some day, it's honestly gonna be a while

also, because it's worth noting, this is a "for want of a nail" type story, so characters start from a canon point, and do diverge some
the fic's main pairing is kazuma/ryuunosuke, as in it's a fic where they eventually get together, like over 80+ chapters in, so if you don't want romance, this fic might not be for you.
the only background pairing is susato/haori- i call her haori and not rei, and those girls are very background bc i need to take time to learn them so i can actually write the last chapters of this fic.
if you read it, i hope sherlock's silly antics are enjoyable to you, because he's been very fun to write for me
