Best expert MTB Trails in Fruita, CO - Mack Ridge and Troy Built

Today's ride is in the excellent Kokopelli region of Fruita, CO. We do the Mack Ridge and Troy Built sequence in the clockwise direction, starting with a climb up the Mack Ridge trail to the top of the ridge where we will begin our incredibly scenic rim ride around the southern section of the ridge. We then descend down the western section of Mack Ridge to the intersection with Troy Built. This descent begins as a fun, flowy rip but lower down transitions into a technical, narrow, rocky sequence of switchbacks that will challenge most riders. The closer you get to the bottom the more difficult it is. This is a fun section if you are into a slow technical descent with multiple drops with off camber rocks.
Troy Built is then a mostly cross country trail, ridden on a very scenic bench cut above the Colorado River. And while this trail is mostly intermediate, be prepared for the occasional technical section, where intermediates may want to walk. But regardless, this is an outstanding sequence of rewarding trails!

Well done Ron. I like the Fruita idea better than Arizona I think with all the cactus bombs. On the Troy Built Upper Trail Forks says a blue ride but sure seems like it was a pretty aggressive blue ride watching you. Maybe a blue+.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes the Upper Troy Built is a hard blue…but it’s definitely a great trail. The overall loop is going to be one of my go-to rides in the future! As for Arizona, the weather is definitely more ride suited this time of year. Thanks for watching!

This is in my backyard. I'm always worried about tearing up my bike riding the black diamond trails in the area (Lunch loops and Kokopelli). The views on Mack ridge are the best in the Kokopelli area and like you mentioned, there are trails for all level of riders.
