    If you are looking to change up your photography or videography in 2023, here are 3 budget vintage 50mm lenses you should try out to give you a different or unique look at an affordable price. Each one is a little different than the rest but all can be found in m42 mount so they are easy to adapt to most modern Mirrorless or DSLR cameras. You can try 1 or you can try them all. And whenever I say Diaplan... remember I mean Domiplan.

      its gotta be a Minolta (for true budget though - either the MD 45mm f/2 or the MC 58mm f/1.4)

      Very true, easily accessible and lots of options. Wanted to throw some other options out there besides the more well known ones.

      Pentacon 50mm 1.8, 33cm minimum focus, a little swirl and bold hexagonal boke and can still be found for around 20 bucks

    The Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 is a dreamy lens that just offer so much character and value for what it costs. Stopped down, it's Tak sharp and not tack sharp, IYKYK. It glows wide open. It has an amber tint to it because of the thoriated glass. Its bokeh is very intriguing too. I highly recommend picking up this radioactive little powerhouse, it's my favourite vintage lens ever.
    P.S on crop sensors like Fuji, it makes for being one of the best portrait lenses I've come across so far.

      I have not tried the radioactive version and I have been curious to test it side by side to a standard 1.4 and yes cropped on the Fuji it does make a solid portrait lens. I carry a dummy adapter and a speed booster so I get both focus lengths from them. Thanks!

      Those are fantastic. I have several of those and unfortunately I don't use them enough. I need to revisit them.

    Love my copy of the Auto Takumar f2.2, I don't regret buying it as I was unsure in the beginning.

    There are so many out there! Thank you for distilling these down, what would you recommend for a vintage Nikon camera?

    • @graham_white
      @graham_white  Před rokem +1

      you are a bit more limited to the Nikon F mount unless you get an adapter. I am pretty sure you can get a few adapters to Nikon F but harder to find than modern ones. Would be rad to mount an M42 adapter onto the Nikon body although it's hard to go wrong with the Nikon Line in lenses. Anything you put on there will probably be good

    Hi Graham would you still recommend the fujifilm camera as your main? I’m looking for just one good camera for video and pictures. Any advice would help!

      It really depends on if you are doing it professionally or as a hobby and what your type of work is. I still use my X-T2 for a lot of photo and broll work and for photography it still holds itsown very well compared to newer models. It does lack in more advanced video features for sure. The X-T4 and newer are what I would recommend if you need both. Even the 3 has a lot of upgrades from the 2 and are now at a much more budget friendly price used
