It's Friday and we are bringing you
NBA Analyst and Duke basketball legend Jay Williams joins the Pivot for a deep conversation addressing some of the latest media controversies and the tragedy he's overcome.
With Fred returning from his trip this week, we asked Jay Williams, someone who we admire as an entrepreneur and media personality but also one of the greatest to play the game of basketball, to sit in for a special edition of The Pivot. With Thanksgiving just passing and the holidays around the corner, It's a good time to reflect on life and appreciate the growth life's journey takes us on.
Jay joins Ryan and Channing for a conversation covering the latest topics in sports, media and takes us through the trials and tribulations he's experienced from being a star at Duke to being a #2 NBA draft pick to his life changing accident to finding his purpose in life through rehabilitation, media and family.
Recently, Jay, a NBA analyst for ESPN, received backlash and sparked some viral debates as he was one of the first to publicly demonstrate support for Kyrie Irving in the controversy around his social media post promoting a documentary "Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America" and encouraged people to take a moment and allow for conversation around the situation without immediately condemning Kyrie for his thoughts. The guys go into detail about what led Jay to take this stance and jeopardize his job and put so much on the line to speak his mind.
The Duke basketball great was on pace to be one of the best NBA players as he was drafted second overall only to have his career cut short due to a tragic incident.
Jay details the night of the motorcycle accident that almost took his life and took the thing he loved most from him, basketball. In an emotional moment, Jay shares the fear and emotional battles he fought while also fighting physically to regain his strength.
Finding purpose again and being able to have a gift to impact others through media and his businesses has been life saving and a blessing that Jay doesn't take lightly. A father of three and married to his best friend, Jay talks about how family is the foundation for all that he does and his backbone after growing up with a close knit family but one that wasn't exempt from emotional hardships as well.
Tap in every Tuesday at noon eastern for our premiere episode of the Pivot. Special NFL seasonal drops on Friday afternoons at 3:30 pm. We are your one-stop platform for all your sports and entertainment content.

As a 59-year old Black man, I still grapple with my identity and my place in this world today, but I continue to diligently search for the truth.
What I just stumbled upon with this interview with Jason Williams, is a gift sent from Heaven!
I have watched several Pivot interviews, but this is the most candid and thought- provoking one that I've seen yet.
I applaud Jay for his authenticity on everything that he elaborated on. You are really doing yourself a disservice when you go against your beliefs.
I really understand Kyrie Irving now and I will never question his motives again.
At the end of the day, the poetic line from the movie: The Great Debaters, brings everything into context.
    "Who's the judge"?
    The judge is God!
    And why is he God?
Because he decides who wins and who loses, not your opponent!
    Whose your opponent?
    He doesn't exist!
    Why doesn't he exist!
Because he is a mere dissenting voice of the truth that I speak!
All-in-all: SPEAK THE TRUTH AND IT SHALL SET YOU FREE!

Best college player ive ever seen with my own eyes. Wouldvd been a hall of famer. Cp3 2.0.....what i loveee is how he has bounced back. When it kinda first happened or a few years after and he did interviews you could see the despair in his face, in his soul honestly. Beautiful to see him redeemed and thriving. You go black man

It's sad that people such as these gentleman struggle to have conversations publicly because they're trying to navigate people's feelings by saying the right thing, the right way at the right time. As a listener and one who is in a conversation, it is your responsibility to not jump to conclusions about the person's intent and to digest fully what is being said. Context and intent are vitally important in conversation! Thank you for the another great episode!

I'm about 40 min in and this conversation is so powerful. I would highly recommend folks check out J. Love hearing this dude speak and RC and Channing are killing it!

Thank you gentlemen for this Pivot Podcast. Much respect for Jay Williams saying that NEWS used to be about (1) the presentation of the News, then (2) the opinion of the presenter/news person about their opinion of the news. This is great and so true. It seems that the current state of "News" is more in line with what used to be presented by the National Enquirer and similar rag magazines. Jay Williams is very articulate and is providing much insight into this issue and Kyrie Irving's perspective, as well as, his own. This is much needed and kudos to JW for being the man, who is courageous enough to speak openly and truthfully on this matter.
