This brings me back to the day when I went to Walmart, bought Zao’s self titled cd and just sat in the parking lot listening to the album reading the liner notes. I couldn’t wait to get home and jump on Garage Band. 🤘🏼
I won't forget just seeing Zao at Walmart was mind blowing cause I can remember having a music store in the mall order me in the splinter and where Blood and fire bring rest cause even the music store didn't carry them on shelves.
Man our local Walmart always had Haste the Day, As I Lay Dying, Emery, Project 86, As Cities Burn, etc. I miss those days

it was highschool 2001 and my buddy gave me this burned cd with a simple title of zao. my mind was blown as this was the first time i heard anything hardcore aside from hatebreed

I saw Zao at the University of Illinois back in the late 90's. Jesse Smith was an absolute ANIMAL on the drums.
After disappearing on a trip from Virginia to Pennsylvania, Edgar Allan Poe turned up nearly unconscious and babbling incoherently in a gutter in Baltimore, MD. While on his deathbed, Poe allegedly whispered the word “Croatoan.”
Amelia Earhart wrote it in her journal before she disappeared. And some writer carved it in his bed post before disappearing. The colony of Roanoke 110-120 people, one of them carved it into a pillar in the colony before they all disappeared. So maybe to hand write the word or carve it into something lol

this has become my fav new Zao song after long list of good ones! One thing that always got me when listening without knowing the title of the song, chorus sounds like "grow it down" which I always thought was a badass saying...come to find out it was "Croatoan"...lol
