Damn, the Hypersmooth may not ever replace a gimbal but you bring up a bang on point about how you can achieve some pretty good results without forking over 200-300 dollars on a gimbal with the Hero7. Also as someone who hasn't mastered out the hyperlapse technique yet with my own camera, seeing what's possible with this does look like a killer stop gap to add some intrigue to my filming repertoire until I master the hyperlapse. Might have to pick this bad boy up so I can finally film an outdoor sport sequence with my friends without having the classic shake whenever I take a step with a GoPro. Looking back, my footage from a 2014 football game filmed on my Hero4 Silver is brutal to watch haha
I had a feiyu wg2, I just sold it this morning with my gopro to upgrade to this. A gimbal on an action camera has so many limitations. Even though waterproof and wearable, it could only be use up to 1m for 30 min, not usable in salt water and not usable in high impact situations like cliff diving and canyoning. People forget this is an action camera. Just wish they had linear mode in 4k60 too.
My father and I have filmed each other skiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding for the past two years and made videos and edits. On my own, I film and edit videos for my family's travels, my school's Ski Club, and scouting activites. Both my father and I always fantasized about getting a gimbal, but when the GoPro 7 came out, we were amazed. Unstable video was always a problem for us, and a gimbal was much too expensive, so having the stabilization of the Hero 7 would solve our problem of shaky video. We would use the stabilization of the Hero 7 to make smoother, and better videos of our activities and interests together. I would love to use the hyperlapse / Timewarp to capture skateboarding, snowboarding, and hiking in a new way. Being able to enter the GoPro Million Dollar Challenge would be a fantastic opportunity, and overall, the GoPro Hero 7 just seems like it would be a great camera for my father and I. Hey Adam! That's why I bought my 7 black and I love what it's capable of. The hypersmooth is amazing for daily activities and extreme sports. Shooting in 2.7k in linear mode will remove the fish eye effect when you do your short films, but I love the super wide view for things like surfing and skating. Especially now that the price of the 7 black has dropped with the announcement of the 8.
This is SO neat. I'd love to capture a hyperlapse / Timewarp from the perspective of a patient moving through the hospital, into my operating room for surgery, throughout the surgery, and back out to the recovery area. Hero7 would be the PERFECT tool. 🤓

I’ve always wanted to own a GoPro ever since I started riding motorcycles. I’ve been riding for almost 6-7 years now & have been to a almost all the states (except the North East, the 7 sisters) but never got the opportunity to record or document my journeys! Thought of buying other action cams in the market but their reliability & spares are always questionable. Now I’ve decided to do the unreal & push the very boundaries that bound us. I'll be going on a 9,000 km roadtrip, the longest I've ever been with 7 other riders to & through Himalayas, all the way to Nepal & then Bhutan. This will be a trip of a lifetime. It will commence on the last week of October or first week of November depending upon the weather. Most of the things are ready, all I need is a GoPro to film my adventurous trip!

In your video such breathtaking views and such high quality gave me the idea to one day make dope videos like yours of the town I live in. Born and raised in a small town that is ONLY know for their ham packing plant... (which I hate seeing those poor pigs pass by my house everyday) After working for my family everyday, when im off I then go to the beach or go hiking at near by parks. People here do not explore all of our surroundings and there are many hidden gems(places) around this area that I take pictures and short clips off my iphone and post. It is hard to find true nature lovers like me in my town. I would love to be able to capture these moments and share them with others in cool videos like yours and show that it does not matter where one lives there is beauty all around us. I would use the timewrap on the the streets of Dublin City Ireland and capture life on the keys of river Liffey , I would use the hypersmooth down hill mountain biking in the dublin/wicklow mountains outside Dublin City , I would also use the hypersmooth cliff diving in howth cliffs outside Dublin

Being a Beginner in filmmaking who cant afford any gimbals or action cameras, I think the Timewarp and hypersmooth features are gonna be useful for me in sooo many different ways! My Canon 200d only allows me to film in 60 fps but this go pro has 240 at 1080p, This feature will push me to the limits! and I always wanted to do a hyperlapse around Taj Mahal (I live in India!)
I'd use it for everything! Climbing, surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, microlight flights, track day racing, mtb all amateur but super smooth might help my sloppy skills!

takaobb I was thinking the same. What a crappy way to compare the hero 6 vs 7. Hypersmooth is not a game changer in my eyes since the gopro hero 6 video stabilisation works pretty good as well. But of course GoPro needs some arguments to sell their new cam and Chris wants to make sure that they also send a gopro hero8 to him next year...

it is such a minor stabilization improvement!go pro could just put it on our go pro hero 6 via firmware update and fix those firmware isssues nad regain consummers trust!such disappointment!

For the past few years me and a friend of mine who now serves for the US (stationed in Djibouti) have been building a car to conquer a few major races in America including pikes peak and the silver state classic. I think this would be amazing to film those experiences inside and out with 4k-60 and even showing the car off with slow mo maybe shooting flames from the exhaust in slow motion!
i would really appreciate this go pro 7 as at the moment i have a £30 action camera which if you watch some of my footage on my channel you will see is very shaky and poor quality. it would be a game changer and would really help my channel. i cannot afford a new go pro or a gimbel so i am struggling. i would film with the timewarp in my edits and always you the hypersmooth. please pick me thank you very much.

I definitely would love to use the hypersmooth. As I am traveling a lot, I found out that it is inconvenient to pack yourself with a lot of gears. By just having one small PERFECT gadget, I would need to pack and carry so much stuffs while I am travelling.

I would use the hyper smooth feature to film my climbing, hiking, tree climbing, rope swing, zip lining, biking, videos. Also using the hyper lapse feature to film some of my swimming, running, vacation videos, sunsets, sun rises, waterfalls, and more while I travel. And to film cities that I travel to and capture the scenery.
I do loads of mountain biking and want to start sharing my footage, i would love the hypersmooth capabilities because other GoPro's just cant crack out the same footage as the Hero 7 Black. Would love to record my Hockey training sessions too.

For me as an events host here in the Philippines. I wanna capture every bit of emotions of the people in the event. Seeing them enjoying the celebration in a wedding, birthday, debut, etc. and capturing it using the gopro hero 7, makes me more inspired to do best in my job to create unforgettable video and share it with them. And I think, that is so cool.
That Hypersmooth feature is splendid. It's stabilization a class above and lets us do away with a gimbal most of the times (especially while traveling). Hyperlapse is neat, but probably won't be used all the time. That said I would still love to be in the draw for a freebie. Thanks.

Great video. I would use Hypersmooth for all my helicopter conserservation work (game capturing, darting of animals, anti-poaching work) and also for the conservation work I do with reptiles like catching black mambas, cobras, monitor lizards ect.
I would like to time warp many things, what came up to my mind now is paragliding, also wakeboarding would be cool, can also do sunset by the beach, top view of mountain bike trail, there are so many cool thing to do with this thing!
When it comes to the gimbal You have to remember this can you buy a camera with a gimble... Most of the time now yet that buy that separately so you think in yourself without this new feature you have to purchase that separately... So with that being said the go pro hero 7 is making it so you don't have to purchase that... Now the other thing you don't realize or may not a thought of is most stabilizers are not waterproof.. So This is actually a big step... And I believe it's a great step for a great price... Now think about some of the more expensive cameras that may be 7 or 800.. That don't have some of These features... I'm not a person that is into playing sports but I do take this in the water I do use on my car in such and I do like having them features... So for me this would be a Big upgrade because I have the go pro hero 4 silver .
I've never crossed the line to buy a Go Pro forcing myself to work on my DSLR, but if I had to say hello to a Go Pro sooner than later, I'd film the very different cities and landscapes of my island La Réunion, showing the best and specific parts of them all. Well stabilisation is a must for everything, especially hyperlapses.
I had a live volcano in my neighborhood for the last 3 months ( Lelani Estates) on the big island in Hawaii and that would be perfect for this new drone i'm building ... great review!

Nice vlog. I'm an outdoor photo/videographer. I recently started using GoPro4 black on a gimbal. Being able to use the Hypersmooth in the desert and forest would be sooooo much better than lugging around all the equipment I currently use.

I've been doing a lot of research on the different models so I choose the best one for me. I pretty much want to use it for my random and planned adventures, and pictures. Great review Chris! in 4 weeks, I leave my full time job and head off to South East Asia on a one way ticket! The plan is to travel for as long as possible until the funds run out, so don't know where i'll end up or for how long. I'd Loveee to use the new GoPro 7 to capture this adventure, maybe a hyperlapse over Bangkok? Or Singapore? Use the hypersmooth feature surfing in Bali? I have no idea! but i'd love to have the tools to capture some amazing moments whenever/wherever they arise, and treasure the memories.
I really wanted to have a Go Pro Hero 7 because it can capture great videos with tons of details that you can't achieve in a smartphone camera. I love also how it smoothly stabilize the videos. And you can't always bring the gimbal with you (maybe forgot to charge it) or just want to use camera in water

My Canon 200d only allows me to film in 60 fps but this go pro has 240 at 1080p, This feature will push me to the limits! and I always wanted to do a hyperlapse around Taj Mahal (I live in India!)
I'd use it for everything! Climbing, surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, microlight flights, track day racing, mtb all amateur but super smooth might help my sloppy skills!

takaobb I was thinking the same. What a crappy way to compare the hero 6 vs 7. Hypersmooth is not a game changer in my eyes since the gopro hero 6 video stabilisation works pretty good as well. But of course GoPro needs some arguments to sell their new cam and Chris wants to make sure that they also send a gopro hero8 to him next year...
@@ferdiw85 Thank you. There are many youtubes who forget to take balance in between audiences and sponsors. He knows hero 6 black's stabilization is pretty good already but he end up turning it off. I see his decision is manipulative and I think he is hypocriet.
it is such a minor stabilization improvement!go pro could just put it on our go pro hero 6 via firmware update and fix those firmware isssues nad regain consummers trust!such disappointment!
The video is about hypersmooth, he’s showing us the difference between other gopros and the new one, so just because he turns the stabilization off doesn’t mean that it’s a fake review 🤙🏼

Using the time warp and hyper smooth would look insane filming diving and paragliding
For the past few years me and a friend of mine who now serves for the US (stationed in Djibouti) have been building a car to conquer a few major races in America including pikes peak and the silver state classic. I think this would be amazing to film those experiences inside and out with 4k-60 and even showing the car off with slow mo maybe shooting flames from the exhaust in slow motion!
i would really appreciate this go pro 7 as at the moment i have a £30 action camera which if you watch some of my footage on my channel you will see is very shaky and poor quality. it would be a game changer and would really help my channel. i cannot afford a new go pro or a gimbel so i am struggling. i would film with the timewarp in my edits and always you the hypersmooth. please pick me thank you very much.

I definitely would love to use the hypersmooth. As I am traveling a lot, I found out that it is inconvenient to pack yourself with a lot of gears. By just having one small PERFECT gadget, I would need to pack and carry so much stuffs while I am travelling.

I would use the hyper smooth feature to film my climbing, hiking, tree climbing, rope swing, zip lining, biking, videos. Also using the hyper lapse feature to film some of my swimming, running, vacation videos, sunsets, sun rises, waterfalls, and more while I travel. And to film cities that I travel to and capture the scenery.

I do loads of mountain biking and want to start sharing my footage, i would love the hypersmooth capabilities because other GoPro's just cant crack out the same footage as the Hero 7 Black. Would love to record my Hockey training sessions too.

I love to travel the world, so that's why I want to capture 7/8 different countries, using the time warp function and make those timewarp clips into one with many effects! The stabilization is great!

For me as an events host here in the Philippines. I wanna capture every bit of emotions of the people in the event. Seeing them enjoying the celebration in a wedding, birthday, debut, etc. and capturing it using the gopro hero 7, makes me more inspired to do best in my job to create unforgettable video and share it with them. And I think, that is so cool.

That Hypersmooth feature is splendid. It's stabilization a class above and lets us do away with a gimbal most of the times (especially while traveling). Hyperlapse is neat, but probably won't be used all the time.

Great video. I would use Hypersmooth for all my helicopter conserservation work (game capturing, darting of animals, anti-poaching work) and also for the conservation work I do with reptiles like catching black mambas, cobras, monitor lizards ect.

Hypersmooth stabilisation is best of all..... One of the best action camera feature yet go pro 👍
When it comes to the gimbal You have to remember this can you buy a camera with a gimble... Most of the time now yet that buy that separately so you think in yourself without this new feature you have to purchase that separately... So with that being said the go pro hero 7 is making it so you don't have to purchase that... Now the other thing you don't realize or may not a thought of is most stabilizers are not waterproof.. So This is actually a big step... And I believe it's a great step for a great price... Now think about some of the more expensive cameras that may be 7 or 800.. That don't have some of These features... I'm not a person that is into playing sports but I do take this in the water I do use on my car in such and I do like having them features... So for me this would be a Big upgrade because I have the go pro hero 4 silver .

I've never crossed the line to buy a Go Pro forcing myself to work on my DSLR, but if I had to say hello to a Go Pro sooner than later, I'd film the very different cities and landscapes of my island La Réunion, showing the best and specific parts of them all. Well stabilisation is a must for everything, especially hyperlapses.
I had a live volcano in my neighborhood for the last 3 months ( Lelani Estates) on the big island in Hawaii and that would be perfect for this new drone i'm building ... great review!

Nice vlog. I'm an outdoor photo/videographer. I recently started using GoPro4 black on a gimbal. Being able to use the Hypersmooth in the desert and forest would be sooooo much better than lugging around all the equipment I currently use.

What an amazing video! All the information and comparisons were extremely helpful to a first time GoPro user. I've been doing a lot of research on the different models so I choose the best one for me. I pretty much want to use it for my random and planned adventures, and pictures. With the holidays coming up, it would be super cool to use the timewarp to capture all the decorations around the city. I think that'd look so awesome! Thanks for sharing this video with us!
Great review Chris! in 4 weeks, I leave my full time job and head off to South East Asia on a one way ticket! The plan is to travel for as long as possible until the funds run out, so don't know where i'll end up or for how long. I'd Loveee to use the new GoPro 7 to capture this adventure, maybe a hyperlapse over Bangkok? Or Singapore? Use the hypersmooth feature surfing in Bali? I have no idea! but i'd love to have the tools to capture some amazing moments whenever/wherever they arise, and treasure the memories.

I really wanted to have a Go Pro Hero 7 because it can capture great videos with tons of details that you can't achieve in a smartphone camera. I love also how it smoothly stabilize the videos. I am a type of person who loves taking lots of pictures and videos. think this action camera will suit for me.
