IGN 8.4- "Enough water"
👌
420/69-Ign "like Skyrim with dolphins"
too much fish
(sigh)
"Not Spiderman 2"
It's an interactive piece of art. That can either be a good thing or a bad thing for whomever picks up the game. I for one love it and games like it.
Agreed, everybody should try it imo it's such a unique experience !
Beautifully said my friend. It's always important to have this mindset going into games like this - and thus you can have an utmost fulfilling and enriching experience - one which is therapeutic and beautiful.
If this game had a race it would a lot worse in my opinion. this game keeps to its atmosphere with the music, the visuals and the gameplay
worth playing? Abzulutely
ha ha ha
Really a pun I love it
Beyond Blue’s out it’s basically Abzu, with better Graphics and a Shorter story I think
Hahahahahaha
@@cj_curles0671 nah I played beyond blue but abzu art style is so much better
I finished the game, and now I use the meditate mode as a background for when I do my homework. I'm really glad relaxing games like this exist to give us a break from all of the competitiveness in modern gaming.
This comment means everything to me. Beautifully said my friend, beautifully said ;)
Not enough gameplay- 8.4
Why do you base your score on what you want a game to be like and not on what it is?
Yet they give journey a goty.
@@shubhamdwivedi5150 Journey is my favorite game, but it definitely shouldn't have been chosen by them as goty
Because IGN
@@shubhamdwivedi5150 they're one of my favourite bands
Depends on liking my friend is like saying Gris is a horrible game because is not super fast pased
Just finished Abzu and damn did I love it! Gorgeous visuals, lovely music, and great controls. Its not challenging but that's not the point. Exploring this world was one of the best experiences I've had as a gamer.
1:21 wtf is wrong with that orca's spine
hahahahaha physics happened
Pollution
the tail its 30 fps, the head 60 fps
blame BP
hahahahahahhaahahhahaahha
It great to see a good game without violence, shooting or killing.
Stuart's travel videos than play racing games
So much agree my dear.. What is the World without violence?
But yet this game does have a little bit of dark side..it's not straight up violence but i'll avoid spoilers on that one
The point of playing shooters isn’t so you can kill people, they require technical skill and have a competitive aspect to them. No one picks up a video game for violence and murdering and even if a game has violence it has no affect on the person playing it. If anything violent video games let you relive stress and anger rather than releasing it in the real world
@@colbyjackcheeser you nailed it.
By FAR one of the most beautiful games I've ever played...
Ryu Piano similar but better lol
Play sky
It’s literally free
More of an interactive experience than a game
Endless Ocean is one to experience too. Beautiful game with a stunning soundtrack and a decent story too.
IGN 8.4 - 'Not enough underwater races'
I don't know why he expected conventional "races through the environments" this company has never created games that challenge our skills. They make games for you to zen out to and enjoy. Flower and journey never had anything like that either. Not complaining about the score just don't understand why he expected the exact opposite of what this dev creates
And I'm really high
This game company doesn't make games.
@@ainegray7880 if its not a game then what is it
@@Handonforehead they didn't just make games. Those were beautiful, gorgeous arts.
oh ign... not everything has to be Uber stimulating. can ye not just enjoy the simplicity of it's amazing colors and flow. like a painting... paintings don't need to tell you a story nor challenge you, sometimes like a painting.. a game can be something that's just meant to evoke emotion and feeling.
Oh shut up
anthonygamer damn buzz kill
You're not describing a game
Holy diver you have been down too long in the midnight sea..
Jump on the tiger, you can feel his heart but you know hes mean.
+Timothy_Candel Gotta get away!
cousin ed always dives for the hole
didn't think i'd met a metalhead here
Another one here
Try to play it while your high best time ever
Who's here after play at home lol
Meeee XD
me
Meeee. Finally played after downloading
Can't wait to play this game with a VR headset on.
Excited to play this! I'm totally fine with a more ambient gameplay experience, not everything has to have challenge or combat.
Just finished this beautiful and memorizing piece of art. While only 3 hours long and fairly simplistic, it's truly breathtaking, enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing.
I haven't finished the game but I have to tell you, this is amazing. Literally, I was gasping everytime I saw a new species and specially when I learned I could ride them. Oh what a joy of a game this Abzû is!
Abzu is at least a 9 its a type of game which can help you recover from your depression
IGN 8.4- "too much fish"
POV: You are here after its free on epic.
yes true
my brother is gonna download it and i can play it, this game looks incredibly relaxing and fun
Most def
bvhjfdsghbsd IS IT STILL FREE
@@michaelsuppnick2326 no it costs 2.39 dollars now
looks like a mix between flower and journey
made by the art director of journey!
It's made by a lot of the people who made both games.
Charles Kuhn I played some of abzu, (it was free on ps+) but I found it extremely boring. should I even try journey, or do you think I will have a similar experience?
Spencer Lorrigan you will probably have the same experience but if it's free try it and if you don't like it delete it
what happend to pros and cons?
they hated the pros and con being turned into memes
LOL
They took it away because people skip to the end
+A disappointment to everyone I met really? Did they say so?
Pros: No more flamewars over pros/cons in the comments.
Con: You now have to watch the whole video instead of skipping to the end of the review :(
I hope the future has more creative games like this. So bored with the search/kill/story/loot formula in games... Or search/kill/loot/story...
Or story/search/story/search/kill/loot/search/story/loot/loot/kill/story/search/story/kill
That last one would be a game of the year contender. So edgy. So unique.
But Abzu is just go from point A to point B. Maybe push a lewer. Maybe find a yellow robot. This game is like playing demo, all you do is watch locations there is NOTHING of substance to it. I really though that it could be exploration game but how is it an exploration if you're very carefully railroaded through whole thing and not able to even go into any direction without game grabing you by the ear and pulling back on the pre determined path?
HellGrimo this game is meant to be explored, as in seeing everything it has in it. It’s so you can enjoy the world they made, and creatures along they way. It’s not for everyone, but it is great for some.
like a pizza cutter.... all edge and NO POINT!
People are passionate about games. Wasn’t trying to step on toes. Just stating my own opinions. I’m in my 40’s and I’ve played a LOT of games... This one was just unique to me. But in retrospect the replay factor ended up being pretty non existent for me after I beat the game. Was a memorable fun experience, but like some great movies...Once was enough! My point was that I was and still am sick of the same old repetitive formula in games ... And I stand by that 100 percent. I love companies that think outside the formula like w this one. That’s all I was trying to say.
Short but great experience! The music and graphics made everything so nice
I've been thoroughly enjoying this game, it's beautiful, relaxing, surprising & my BiffaBoys (my two boys as I call them on my YT channel) love it too. Swimming with dolphins, whales and sharks, discovering & unlocking new fish...what's not to love! :-)
LOVE this game and it plays great on the Xbox One X. The beautiful underwater locations reminds me of Ecco the Dolphin for the Sega Dreamcast and Endless Ocean on the Nintendo Wii. This game was part of Xbox's 2018 Spring Sale and I am glad I picked it up. Simple beautiful!
If you liked Journey, you'll love this as well. Stay tuned for Bound!
Whose here after knowing Abžu will be free as part of Play at Home Initiative. Coming this spring, starting March 25- 10 games will drop as free, so you may wanna check that out.
Only 4 days left!!!
wohooo
2 more days yaaaaaaaaaay
Journey but underwater.
*NOICE*
I WANT THIS ON SWITCH, PLEASEE
Why do people complain about frame rates so much? As long as it doesn't run like a potato you should be good to go
i dont quite agree, a game that runs at a solid framerate (30+) feels more fluid and is, to me, more fun to play. I recently played the Jak and Daxter trilogy and even there the framerate dipped around the 25 region and it was so noticeable that it definitely harmed my enjoyment of the game.
I don't need 60 fps to enjoy my game, but once it dips below 30, it becomes visibly noticeable to the human eye. The only times I noticed dips in this game was when I would swim in a giant school of fish, and even then it just kind of highlighted the blurry beauty of it.
Kodo Elder-Groebe I agree with you about the FPS, though I would argue that even though you cant really distinguish the frames once you go above 30, things do start to "feel" smoother.
metroid2 Yeah it does totally feel smoother (Ratchet and Clank's frame rate on PS4 is to die for) I just don't have very high standards.
i'm fine with 30fps, but ONLY if it never dips below. while i much prefer to play games at 60fps, if a game really can't run at a steady 60 i will actively lock a game down to 30fps. 60 is best, but 30 is better than a frerate that jumps around between 35 and 50.
So this is pretty much the underwater version of "Journey" ? Sounds good
Any recommendations for similar games... 420 friendly as this game was?
I love an exploration game and ever since Tomb Raider: Underworld I had a craving for an underwater experience. This one flew under my radar.
IGN 8.4/10 ' Where's the bigger boat"
thats a good joke never heard that before
1:50 "By grabbing onto fish I could move faster"
*grabs dolphin*
Dolphin is a fish xD
@@misterdude6694 Mammal. [Edit] But I see what you mean.
Looks great Journey goes underwater.
Music sounds great!
Is it 60fps on Series X? Can't be that fluid if it's stuck at 30
What an exceptional piece of art. Must play.
This and Bound seem worth checking out. I will wait for this one to be on sale though. Bound is preorder worthy,
0:50 "mysterious shunken shrines"
I'm only here because it's free on Epic Games store :)
Even free it's not worth it. You can get exactly the same experience from watching someone's else gameplay. You don't have anything to do or control here.
@@HellGrimo ty imma uninstall😂
is this playable on PC? thanks
You dear sir deserve my thumbs up just for the Dio reference :")
Who is here after it's free at playstation?
Is the game digital or can i buy it on disc and what is its price plzzz
Ps Plus NA May 2017
My one dream is a sequel in space called ‘Aero’ or something. I need.
Can’t wait to play this game on the switch this month
Verdict : 8.4, 'great'
8 and above is great
5-7 is average
1-4 is poor
+DEADtoRISE08 7 is actually "good".
+DEADtoRISE08 Actually 10 is masterpiece, 9 is amazing, 8 is great, 7 is good, 6 is ok and anything less is trash
Cahan McLaughlin 8 is "great", 7 is "good" dood.
Strange game. Beautiful. Haunting. Ahhhh an underwater swimming simulator? Ya but very mysterious and captivating. Very short but worth a playthrough . A true visual dream in the sea.
As a huge Journey fan I really wanted to love this.
It's gorgeous and Austin Wintory is fantastic but it really is Journey 1.5 but without the emotional depth
You could almost do a screen vs screen comparison of all the same story beats. I was hoping they'd bring something more unique and innovative to the table. Some more gameplay elements would have been great. I would've liked to been able to catalogue all the fish, giving you motivation to explore and find all the fish types. An experience like this would be perfect for VR actually
You can explore the wildlife more in depth than is explained here. As usual, a barebones review from IGN.
Go watch 'Easy Allies' (the ex Game Trailer guys) review instead. They explain it, whilst IGN just either didn't find it, or just failed to mention it.
That, or watch 'ACG's very in depth review.
This is after just one playthrough, and I did do some exploring...maybe I wasn't in the mood! Ok i'll check that out :)
Arien Van Stralen I apologise. I didn't realise you'd played it. I misread your OP - shouldn't read comments before my morning coffee. :)
The only thing you seem to like in your games is no gameplay, man.
do u gotta buy it?
It’s one of the most relaxing games I’ve played.
Reminds me of that diving game for the Wii
WTF are you saying!!!! This game isnt locked to 30fps! Its even 60fps on Ps4!
Reminds me of Endless Ocean.
4 years later
ive been on the hunt for hidden gem games and it brought me here!!! 👏🏾👏🏾💯 been collecting a lot of classick games lately
fun fact, holy diver is a song as old as medieval age.
Honestly should've been cheaper. I'd wait for a sale if you haven't bought it yet. I'd rate it a 8 out of 10 though. So beautiful.
20$
its 15 with ps plus
I realize that, I just don't think it has the same replayability or meaningful story to be on par with some of the indie games in its price range. It's a beautiful game, both visual and musical compositions, but that's all it is. I'll play it twice and never touch it again. The company deserves the money, but I think they'd reach a wider variety of players at a cheaper price point considering the brief playtime.
+Nirodimos “Nidoking” NeedAKing subnautica and stranded deep do it better
bought it 3 days ago...i've been replaying the chapters everyday and its never the same.......this is art
Consistant 30 frames per second with only a hand full slow downs......sweet as
its 60fps
idk how you even get thumbs up with the wrong information cuz its 60fps
idk, If you actually watch the video you will realise that i'm simply repeating what the reviewer has said, my comment wasn't my personal opinion.
+esperCELL frame time...right..
looks like a great tech demo for a new Ecco the Dolphin game. Please make that happen!
This reminded me of Journey, one of the most captivated game I've ever played.
it was created by the same studio, and even the composer is the same!
Ps plus squad!
unitedcamos they lied its not even on there....
unitedcamos I was able to download it.
Darth Plagueis how tho? doesent come up for me on ps4 and i have ps plus
Darth Plagueis is it just on ps3 or something?
trevchanz mum I have it on PS4. Downloaded it last night.
THIS is what gaming should be about. not stoking anxiety
journey: under the sea edition
This game got to me I really wanted it to be longer
Why did they removed the pros and cons section? o.O
wonder if this will be even better on VR .
I can't wait to see what this looks like on my PC.
Hopefully not a slideshow. I know some people don't notice the frame rate but I think 30 is just ugly.
Abzu is just so beautiful. Hoping they remaster this game.
HDR and raytracing will make it far prettier.
I felt sorry for those who have "thallasophobia" that they have fear to play this game.
And that is...?
Fear of the sea.
+TheClassicHuggles oh ok
I have thallasophobia and although I got nervous at times I loved this game.
Always face your biggest fear
the best fish ai since cod ghosts
if there was ever a Aquaman game made i would want it to take a few notes from ABZU.
1:15 Grassy Plateau from Subnautica
Abzulutely breathtaking visuals...
its free on ps4 for april 2021, if u get it now you can keep it for free :D
Who’s here when the game is going to be free
👍👍👍👍
I can't figure out the controls of this game, its so frustrating
If on PS, use R2 to dive
This feels more immersive art experience or relaxation therapy than gaming. My speed, which means it might convince me to try this form of gaming at my age LOL.
It doesn't really look like it's underwater. they're missing water lense effects ,and distortion.
hard to find a better experience in games this year.....ABZU is a dream simulator
I see a Nights into Dreams influence...
Will be free on PSN March 25th
these creators need to be the ones that make a Superman game, its about time he got one.
Lol what?
masterpiece of a game, had me in tears. IGN, sorry but you are ABZUlutely wrong about the score.
is this dwnload only
I couldn't find a physical copy of the game , so I bought it digitally .
I’ve been thinking about getting this game to help fight my fear of large open waters
I mean grounded helped fight my arachnophobia so surely this can help anyone know if it does?
Well it's free now so you might as well do so
Beautiful colors!
Free on epic games next week
Between the velvet lies
There's a truth that's hard as steel
