What’s great to me about this is Trixie’s “ugly makeup” is iconic enough that she’s the second richest drag queen under Ru herself.

+Lana Del Knowles I don't think that is accurate, Betty is very talented and extremely intelligent with a lot of points. The difference is, Trixie went from a humorous pre-planned stick-poking sort of humor trying to get a rise out of her.
Betty on the other hand didn't have time to plan and try and be cute, so she responded with the first digs that came to her mind to shut Trixie up. Acid doesn't do funny, it was more of a " Fuck with me and we'll go there, go before this gets dark. " thing.
I'm not on either side, Acid shouldn't have went in on Trixie to the length she did in Untucked though she was absolutely correct. By Trixie's own words, numerously - she evolved her style of make-up from being unable to do make-up. It was legit, " I suck at make-up, let's make it a thing. " and it's what makes Trixie different, while Acid had to actually work on her entire aesthetic a lot more. I mean, compare. Who do you think takes longer to put an outfit together?
Betty's make-up is always very difficult and multi-colored with different prints - textures - flourishes - tones - color blocking that goes into the hair and often androgynous sculptured pieces selected individually for a popping peacocking eyeful. --- Trixie paints big and overdrawn with a muddy nose and slaps on pink nightgowns and four Dolly Parton sized wigs.
Betty looks like walking art and being a towering intimidatingly creative figure and that is her aesthetic, Trixie looks like a meth addicted brandless fashion beauty doll and sounds like 9/10 guys you call for tech support and that is her aesthetic. It's very much like ... Sharon and Alaska, Sharon is just as talented but despite winning doesn't get as much recognition for it because she isn't as y'know ... safe is a bad way to put it but it's true. Betty intimidates people, Trixie and her talent is in no way intimidating - cool and people can appreciate it but ... y'know.

+iTeacupPanda Yes Acid is amazingly talented, but in this circumstance she didn't deal with a little bit of a joke from Trixie. I know Trixie had time for preparation, but Acid saw her walking up to the mic and so really should have known that the queen she came for was going to make a joke about those comments. She seemed to take the comment a little too personally from my perspective and that was a bit awkward.
I feel it comes across that she has a bit of a chip on her shoulder, there is being harsh and blunt, and then there is the barrier she puts up. I think Acid is a great person and in a few of the moments in Untucked you got to see the odd moment where she took those barriers down.. I just wish that she would let the barriers down a little more often so that people could actually appreciate her talent more.
In terms of safeness, the two artists are just completely different styles of drag and so I wouldn't say either is safe as a result. Yes Trixie has long run with the joke that it's because she couldn't do makeup, but doing that crazy over the top makeup so well still takes time and effort, and I wouldn't call it safe.. She relies on personality more yes, but you can also say 'well Acid Betty relies on looks too much'.. Both of them focus in on different areas and that is what makes drag race amazing, there are queens for everyone and everyone will enjoy different queens based on what they prioritise.. :)
Jessica Tyers To be honest, I wouldn't say that Trixie relies on personality at all. Her look is her statement and iconic part of her drag, it's the only thing that REALLY informs you that she is a comedy Queen because you certainly didn't see it outside of 2 or 3 jokes maybe her entire stay on Drag Race? And maybe one story on Unh?
To be honest, many " LOOK " Queens had a better history of humor. I'd say Violet was funnier and I don't even like her or believe she should have won. I'd also say that Tatianna for example who NO ONE cares about and was known for relying on pretty was much more humorous.
If it weren't for Trixie's face, her funny moments wouldn't stand out as much. She is about as funny as many of the Look Queens who aren't known for being funny, the difference is she makes a cute marketing package with Katya.
Acid does rely on her looks, but her " Bitch " persona is also something that has built a character statement for her. Trixie definitely relies on her look just as much.

Trixie on the other hand took time to plan her doing that more than likely since she saw that episode, can't really plan retaliation for a comeback that may or may not happen.

Blake Gill I'm not a Betty superfan, she is far from my favorite Queen though I like her, but she isn't even in my top ten. I do however respect what she does and understand what she does as well as understand a person with that personality type.

Trixie nor Katya are quick on their feet, their humor is long - drawn out stories that just go for an " ew " factor - giggly shit that my friends and I would say when we were twelve and we were dorks, but honestly I'm nineteen now and don't find it funny. I don't understand how people older than myself are finding it so massively hilarious when Trixie sounds like 9/10 guys you get from tech support and Katya ...you can get a few laughs with but I don't find her HILARIOUS.
