    Just a bit of constructive criticism you used a fire proof sheet of gyproc yet you never fully dabbed a continuous line of adhesive along the top of the wall to prevent a fire spreading behind the board and upwards 👍

      Should be a full line around the back boxes as well.

      @george9710 Před 2 lety

      Building regs specify a continuous line of adhesive but a much better and safer application technique is to use a can of intumbesent adhesive. It costs more but it's substantially better in case of a fire and is much faster to install especially around back boxes

    You've just failed building regs, it's supposed to have a full line of adhesive across the top to stop flames from travelling up the wall behind the board.

    • @robybling
      @robybling Před 3 lety +3

      Have you actually had or seen a situation where the fire actually stops because of the full line of adhesive across the top?
      Tbf the properties in this country are so damp that even if you want to start a fire you won't be able to

    Has any one experienced “shrinking” of the drywall adhesive once set? I dot and dab a big wall it was perfect used a 3 m straight edge the next day every board had bowed in slightly?? No idea why

      Drakey what back ground was it on possible it sucked the moisture out too quick.

    • @craigmorris3941
      @craigmorris3941 Před 5 lety +1

      Chances are you had too much water in the mix and the board and wall sucked it all out making the dabs smaller

    Can u make a video to show how you use double plasterboard for soundproofing party walls.
    Thanks

    • @george9710
      @george9710 Před 2 lety +1

      You do not dot and dab is you want sound insulation. Dot and dab has very poor sound performance and should absolutely be avoided if that's what you are after. Double plaster board for soundproofing goes on resilient bars which are metal semi suspended bars screwed into the wall. If you are trying to cut costs you can use timber battens but the performance will be significantly worst. Also remember that sound proofing is adding mass to the wall so you need to fill air voids with denser material and one that vibrates as little as possible. Rockwool is often used as a cost effective solution but there are better ones at a significant price premium. A very important and often forgotten part is flanking tape (which is not really tape). Don't skip it it costs very little for what it does.

    Can that material be used for big holes like where a plug socket was fitted in the wall

    Good video how come you never used a hawk and trowl ? Continuesly bending down to get adhesive out from the bucket can't be doing your back any good.

    • @george9710
      @george9710 Před 2 lety

      A hawk won't do much for dot and dab and also he is applying with a brush not trowel with is much faster. That said, you are correct he should be using a table but it's one wall so I'm sure his back is fine.

    • @how2d223

      This adhesive sticks to anything but don't glue it on no cavity exterior wall. Treat bricks with PVA. Hope it helps.

    Love the channel. But kill the music. Cannot be bothered turning it up and down when you talk. Young head bangers on drugs don't watch your stuff. Handy men and women do. We come to learn from the master. Just sayin.
