So, I have done a separate Danner Tachyon review as well as Danner Tanicus review on this channel and whenever it comes to making the choice between these two... it is a tough choice. Here are both of the reviews:
    • Video
    • Video
So, overall, if you are looking for the best combat boots for running, these two are definitely on the top of the list. In fact, if you prefer lightweight military boots in general, both of these are an excellent option, with Danner Tanicus being about 6 oz heavier than Danner Tachyon.
On this channel, I get often asked by guys in service what are the best boots for rucking. Both, this Danner Tachyon coyote and Danner Tanicus boots are an excellent option. But, depending on the load you are carrying, you might like one over the other. With a heavier load, some extra cushioning definitely helps. Danner Tanicus do provide that extra cushioning.
Probably worth mentioning here that these two always end up on best army boots online lists.
At the end of the day, whichever one you choose, this will be one of the most comfortable military boots you tried, so, can't go wrong. But I hope, this video will help you make a perfect decision!

In 2017, I chosen a pair of Tanicus as my first boots from the Danner. Honestly speaking, it did give me a wonderful experience of wearing boots no matter where places I wanna go in life. After that I did buy it’s marine boots for replacement instead……guess what! Today is also a day that my new Elk Hunter boots has arrived….actually, there’s nothing to complain about the boots they made.

I got a pair of USAF Tanicus boots back in 2017 on clearance at the Danner factory store & got about 3 years out of them, I absolutely loved those boots & the were a cool light ODG too. I switched over to tachyons & after about a year I noticed the soles were starting to come apart. The tachyons were more comfortable right out of the box. But once the Tanicus wore in, I thought they were more comfortable. Still have them after 2 years now, but they're due for replacement because the leather on the toe is completely torn. I think I'm gonna go back to the Tanicus, but overall, both boots are great.

It's durable? Or like Lowa Zefir, only one year and send to trash?

Holy sh**, those toe-boxes are NARROW! Gotta find a boot with a wide, squared-off toe. These sh**s are uncomfortable as hell.

Real boots should have some stiffness in the sole unit for stability on uneven terrain.

Im torn between these two. Lol I've wanted the tanicus boots for a couple years now. Then i saw this video and how light the tacions are. Man i can't decide i like the look of the tanicus a bit more. But 15oz that is crazy! I wear a size 12 so they might be a bit heavier. If you could only have one or the other to last you a while which would you prefer?

I know, its a tough choice! I love them both, but I would go with Tanicus. Tachyons are lighter, but Tanicus are just more versatile as a full size boot.

My Tachyons have been amazing. Got my first pair back in 2012-2013 and held up amazing and been the most comfortable anything I have ever put on my feet.

I have the black GTX Tachyon, and 2 pair of the summer Tachyon. The regular cowhide black… the ONLY thing that i kinda do not like about the regular version is the abrasion resistant material on the toe. It just looks weird, the coyote/sage green look great without it, but they don’t make a black version like it. That being said they have become my overall all time favorite boot.

How about the MOUNTAIN LIGHTS and the MOUNTAIN LIGHTS 2 by DANNER'S 😊

    • @UltimateSurvivalGear
      @UltimateSurvivalGear  Před 4 měsíci

Haven't had a chance to test them personally, but looks like a solid old-school mountaineering boot. A bit on the heavier side at around 30 oz per boot, but the GTX and Vibram are a plus. Quite pricey! Are you looking specifically for a mountaineering boots?

Yea, unfortunately I gotta agree with that. Their comfort and the design are awesome, but whenever it comes to the durability and longevity, they are lacking.
