Danner Tachyon 8 inch GTX Tactical Boot - amzn.to/2Tmy22X
First of all, I love these Danner boots! They are extremely light, extremely comfortable. These boots would be amazing for warm temperatures and are great for sandy and shiny surfaces.
Here are some specs:

Imported
Rubber sole
Shaft measures approximately 9" from arch
Durable, waterproof, full-grain leather and 500 Denier nylon upper
Polishable toe
100% waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX liner is engineered to keep your feet dry and comfortable
Speed lace fastening system and durable brass hardware for secure fit.Danner Tachyon slip-resistant, rubber outsole features pentagonal lugs for superior surface contact
Weight: 35 oz per pair
The design of these Danner GTX boots is a very lightweight design with no restriction in movement.
The test that I have performed was the 3 mile run and a 5 mile walk... So, total, I have spent about 3-4 hours wearing these boots. If you want my vote on whether these boots are the best combat boots for running, then you have it! It is very easy to run in these boots. I think this is very important to have in a good survival pair of boots.
Whenever it comes to being the best waterproof tactical boots, yes these get my vote too!
So, if you are looking for a great pair of tactical boots, these Danner waterproof boots are definitely a great buy! As Ultimate Survival Boots, definitely a great buy too, but you definitely need to keep in mind the conditions, because these might not be great for cold weather.

Coming from law enforcement, I’ve worn the tachyons for about 3 years and they’ve been the best! Very comfortable and have held up very well.
I heard that a cop got into a foot pursuit in rain and they couldn't get traction. How is the grip on different surfaces?
I’ve personally used these on concrete (textured and smooth), asphalt, wood, pretty much all surfaces you’d come into contact with and I’ve never noticed any slipping.
@@austinm9687 Thanks for your input! Do they make a lot of noise on hard surfaces? Like, do they squeak alot, or are they kind of stealthy?
@@Lenky01 I’m a doormen at a local nightclub. I’ve owned these boots for 1.5 years and they’re awful on that “pebbly”/“Fancy” sidewalk pavement in the rain. You’ll slip. Regular concrete, asphalt, etc I haven’t noticed a difference in the wet/dry. They also tend to squeak once you wear the sole down, noticed it after about a year of full time use.
Overall though I’d give them a 9/10. Comfort, fit, weight, and quality are all amazing. They’d be a 10/10 if it weren’t for the slipping on certain types of pavement.
So i have had these now for about a month in ALASKA btw.
They are GTX lined but not Insulated… that being said they are currently my favorite boot. I have spent upwards of 20min to 2 hours outside in Snow at -14 degrees with no problem at all… wear with Moisture Wicking socks and good to go, they do get a little wet inside from sweating… get another pair to switch out
Great review!
Had the Danner lookouts. Wore them for about 6 months. Hated them, feet hurt terribly, left my feet pruned after an 8 hour shift, even worse with a 16 hour day. Swore off Danner after that. Decided to give these a try and they are, in my opinion, the best duty boot you could possibly buy.
Bro I got the Lookouts rn and stand all day. My knees and feet been killing me. Now Im between these and UA Valsetz cause idk if I trust Danner now lol
@@VauTVeXiiK I have those UA boots as well. Only wore them for a couple of weeks before I bought the tachyons on clearance. They’re a good boot too, but the tachyons are way better. I was in the same boat you’re in, didn’t trust Danner at all. Glad I gave them another chance. Also, Danner seems to run a little narrow, might try some wides on.
Thank you for the review.
Now I know it's just for fashion.
I went half a size down with the normal tachyon I wear a 11.5 wide shoe got a 11 tachyon wide to much heel slip
Can you review the danner acadias please?
Would be awesome if you could review Tactical Research Mini Mil boot and Nike SFB Gen 2 boot. Great job on this one.
Thank you! I'll add these to my to-do list!
**Nike SFB Field 2. Sorry for the mix-up. You can do both I guess lol.
So in my military experience with boots…
1. Nike SFB ( the original ) at first before they were banned from service they were great… only garrison boot not a field boot.
2. Nike SFB 2 better than the original but they get uncomfortable around the forefoot, and slippery in wet surfaces.
3. For the light weight Nike SFB like boot
Go with C4T instead, expanded upon what Nike was going for.
4. Rocky, Oakley SI Assault not Lite assault, Danner, make better boots
How much do they weigh?
How is the toe box on these?
Do you have any problem with the heel cups rubbing your heel? I just got mine and the left shoe already seems to be agitating my heel.
What happened? Fixed itself or...
@@Lenky01 I had to upgrade to a size 8.5 in mens. I wear a 9 in womens for comparison. They honestly are the best boots I have ever purchased. Extremely good quality, laces are thick and have never come undone and grommets are very secure. They are cushioned well. They can get hot at times but personally not enough to make me not wear them (only happens in the summer).
Do these boots provide a good level of resistance to rolling your ankle if on unstable ground?
Nope
@@sprinkleddonuts6094 yes they do better then cowboy boots 🤣
What makes them boots rather than really high sneakers?
You want a boot as close as sneakers as possible. You can’t wear sneaker in police/military etc
Mine rub my ankles from the strap on the outside idk if they’re to big or small but I tried tightening them and it didn’t help
Just a suggestion. When I buy a new pair of boots I rub neatsfoot oil on them. Seems to help penetrate & gently soften up during break in period.
@@Pineoilheavan Great advice. I bought Oakley Field Assaults on sale and they were great, but the laces around my ankle area pinched the shit out of me when I squatted or drove a car. Put some obenaufs on the whole boot and especially on that area and the pinching is totally gone.
👍
What type of pants are you wearing they look cool?
These are Columbia Omni hiking pants. Unfortunately, Columbia doesn't make these particular ones anymore, but they do have new models.
Awesome boots, I'm gonna buy one to China.
I seem to be the only one that hated the tachyon. My feet always hurt so bad.
What was the issue? Thinking about getting a pair
@@Lenky01 mine just hurt my feet terribly with extended standing. They may be great boots but they weren’t for me whatsoever. They were, however, very waterproof and looked great.
Is the toe reinforced? …composite/steel toe??
No
Sellout.
Nope, no one cares about your opinion here either.
