    I’m watching this couple again to be accustomed to different dancers. I’m not sure I could do the turns. Am 90 years of age with scoliosis but I won’t give up I enjoy dancing too much. 😊L from Canada.

      Foe boogie woogie you can wear a trainer like addidas, or keds, or if you're able to find blayer shoes they are very good. Bloch shoes are good. People wear anything they can spin in really. As you progress there are lots of dance shoes on the swingdance scene you can try. St savoy are the only ones i can remember now though!

    This clearly Boogie Woogie, a European style of swing dancing. I dance Lindy hop, East Coast swing and West Coast Swing. Would like to dance Boogie Woogie but don't know if I have the energy for that. It's like a high speed West Coast Swing, 6 and 8 count steps with a triple step at the end of the slot. 1&2, 3&4, 5,6 = a 6 count swing, 1&2, 3, 4, 5&6, 7, 8 = a 8 count swing. Boogie Woogie and West Coast Swing can have both 6 and 8 counts, Lindy Hop is most 8 count and East Coast in mostly 6 count.

      It's all based on 2 count, you can dance 2, 4, 10+ counts. Lindy does have a lot of basic 6 count moves, too.

    It is not a rock step.
    The second step from the lead is incorrect. For proper momentum for the fellow, the first two steps from the lead should be step back, step back.
    Not, step back, step across.

      @Stefan_Aumueller Před 5 lety

      In Europe at Boogie or Lindy lessons you're learning the rock step is step back step forward.

      In boogie woogie, the lead can do a kick-ball-change (1&2) or (1-2) backward steps (forward for the follow), or rock steps (like in the video). It's all boogie, just different footwork variations.

      HobtsmiGern This is Triple time Boogie Woogie in Europe, might be called Jive in your country. Lindy, Swing, Boogie, Jive, those are all very similar in their basic steps, cause these dances have the same roots.

    • @soak1709
      @soak1709 Před 4 lety

      You are right! I can count these steps with the jive ones like: 1-2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6...but I suppose it is more complicated when the music is very fast...

    This is not BOOGIE but East Coast Swing. Boogie is only two step, two step and a rock step.

      I don't know about west coast swing but this is Lindy hop for sure, same steps, same moves, same turns...

    • @Stefan_Aumueller
      @Stefan_Aumueller Před 5 lety +3

      This is a normal Boogie in Europe. Boogie has several basic steps. With 4 steps, 6 steps, 8 steps...

    this is not Boogie 6 count :D
    you have 2 triple steps, that's 6, plus the rock step.. you have 8.
    it is boogie. a version that's very similar to West coast swing. just no 6 count...

    • @emilyhops2566
      @emilyhops2566  Před 7 lety +1

      I went to rock that swing. this is what they called the lesson. it was the boogie woogie track and this was their dance recap. perhaps contact them direct to discuss it further?

    • @SvenEugenots
      @SvenEugenots Před 7 lety +10

      A triple step takes 2 counts, just as the rock step does, which makes this 6 count.

    • @ophelierehner7808
      @ophelierehner7808 Před 7 lety +1

      you don't count the beats, but how often your feet touch the ground. boogie 4 count: rock step + 2 steps. the same with rock'n'roll. you have 6 count and you have 9 count, where you count how often your feet touch the ground. (kick, ball change, kick, and, step, kick, and, step).
      maybe it's a wrong translation.. dunno.

    • @neilp2211
      @neilp2211 Před 6 lety +2

      Yes. This isn't 6 count, this is the 8 count.

    • @pierreguezala8074
      @pierreguezala8074 Před 6 lety +5

      Sorry, but this is 6 count. 2 triples steps, that's 4 ! One and two, three and four. Or if you prefer, three and four, five and six. So with the rock step, One, two, three and four, five and six. You must count the beats of the music. And this is true in Rock'n Roll, Lindy Hop, Balboa, Salsa, Boogie Woogie, Acrobatic Rock'n Roll ... etc .... I'm sorry but it's my job since more than 30 years ...
