Endovascular occlusion of patent foramen ovale as antiarrhythmic treatment of atrial fibrillation

In recent years, there has been evidence that foramen ovale patent may be a pathogenetic factor contributing to the progression of arrhythmic syndrome. In the population it is detected in 17-57% of cases and can cause paradoxical embolism. In this regard, it is relevant to think about the need for correction of this risk factor in the treatment program for patients with AF. Let me present to your attention a report with a clinical case of staged treatment of patent foramen ovale with persistent AF, heart failure with a moderately reduced left ventricular ejection.
