I've had loads of LS3/5as (and still do) and also had some Tablettes. One thing of note is that LS3/5as tend to sound pretty much the same whatever the amplifier that drives them, perhaps something to do with the complex crossover. However my Tablettes sounded very different with different amplifiers - when driven by a tube amplifier they sounded similar and on a level with the LS3/5as, but with my solid state amplifier the Tablettes sounded very different and inferior.
I remember a friend having these in his bedroom. His gear was a Oracle mk 3 TT with Audionote silver cable through out. The arm was a SME V.. A Marantz CD 94, incredible player, and a Audio Innovations 500 valve integrated. I remember sitting in front of these and feeling I was going to fall into the sound stage it was that ridiculous. That was many years ago many many years ago.. Love this channel 🙂

You should talk more about colouration especially in different acoustic musical instruments between the two loudspeakers sound reproduction and not only limited to highs, mid and bass.
I use my V3 Stirling Broadcast LS3/5as with their AB-2 bass extenders and they handle all types of music well, and notably the combination compares well, and is preferred by many, to Stirling Broadcasts LS3/6 speaker, which is a modern and very well reviewed Spendor-like speaker (the Stirling Broadcast V3 LS3/5a, AB-2 and LS3/6 were all designed by Derek Hughes, son of Spencer and who ran Spendor and whose first speaker design was the gorgeous Spendor SP2/2).
Owned original Tablettes, Tablette III, Tablette 50, Tablette 50 Signature. Each progressively more satisfying. Bought early Rogers 15 ohm LS/5a's.. expensive. Excellant for female voices and imaging.. if you stayed in the nearfield sweet spot. Like to work and move about when listening.. so sold the Rogers and bought Tablette 2000's. Slight loss of crystal clarity, but larger sound field and deeper bass. Small Tabbies have 4 1/2" mid/woofer, LS3/5a 110mm = 4.331"and 2000 has 6 1/2". The 2000 is about 1/3 price of LS3/5a's. Tablette 2000 Sig ($600-$800) would be a good choice.. high quality larger fuller sound for about 1/2 price of the LS. They are All excellant. Amps used : Marantz 8b and Sansui Eight Deluxe. You might consider adding sound absorbant panels, drapes, etc.. along with your mic upgrade. Thanks Kevin, for posting another thought provoking video.

Now I have a MA Monitor One, they have the same speakers with ProAc, but a little less volume, and it seemed to me that their sound is more natural, not as bright as ProAc. I am also interested in your opinion on these two models MA One and Tablette. Share your impressions.
Love your videos. 👍Never heard Ls 35a before but I love my Proac studio 110 awesome speakers but I would admit my bros Spendor Sp1 are sweeter on brass and vocal with more tonal quality off the different instruments. Proacs on the other hand are more powerful dynamic and accurate and can cope better with faster paced music. Proac rated at 33HZ and that's were they start rolling off from and drop down to 23HZ when tested with tone generator. Nothing coming out of the speakers at 22HZ but at 23HZ it was like having a very large wagon park next to the house and vibrating the light fittings you can feel it putting sound pressure waves in the room. Serious grunt.
23 hz...lol...i have both speakers frequency charts on my PC somewhere...the LS3/5A i had & they had almost no bass by 60hz max bud...their tiny brick sized speakers...23hz ?!?!
I have listening experience on both speaker, Pro AC sound tight and punchy, LS3/5 sound soften and gentle... (Unfortunately both powered by different amplifier)
Oh forgot to add there was a similar speaker by Audioplan at that time but twice the price, I think, called the Kontrapunkt. I have vague memories of it being small, thin and very deep. It was the best imaging speaker I ever heard then. Has anyone heard of this???

@@skipklauber1162 the Falcon Acoustics LS3/5a is what I would go for, if you want something amazing in near field or smaller room, vintage and wondrous sound. Harbeth P3esr isn’t as “alive” sounding but will grant you hours of enjoyment. ProAc will be more modern sounding than the Falcons and possibly a better all rounder (I’m taking about new tabletts) but I think the Falcon LS3/5a is phenomenal.. Side note.. All new Falcons are Gold Badge apart from MoFi edition.
@@dittonworks I loved the point you made about certain speakers working best at different times of day/night. Little different than certain music somehow sounding best under the same circumstances. John Martyn, Michael Chapman, Roy Harper all made discs I’ve found “sound” optimal during the hour before and during sunrise.
Have owned the ProAc Tablette Ref 8 Signature and Anniversary's. Great speakers. Have you tried the AVI Neutrons? Recently picked up a pair. Even smaller than the Tablette but in many ways are better than the ProAc's which I was quite surprised.

I’ve owned the Tablette 10 which is the current Proac model and really enjoyed them, this week I took possession of Falcon LS3/5a gold edition. The bass on the Falcons is much better and warmer I find than the Tabs, which are also a closed box. I don’t feel I’m missing any bass on the Falcons. The Falcons win out over imaging over the Proac, superb speakers. Any acoustic instruments are superb on the Falcons, I’ve played everything from Blue Note Jazz to AC/DC and enjoyed it all.
Hello! I’ve been thinking about buying Falcons for a while now. Do you need a subwoofer to fully enjoy variety of music like rock, blues, classical ? What amp do you use to power them ? Thanks
@@sylvio1980 in a small room I don’t feel the need for a sub. Deep bass doesn’t bother me. I’m using a Naim 250 dr power amp, lots of people use valves with the Falcons, I’ve not tried it as I’m happy with Naim. I don’t think these would work well in a large room.

Hi Alex. Not really mate. Ls3/5a are more lively sounding, imaging is impeccable and they sound very “live” love them. The ProAc’s have a warmth to the bass missing from the Ls3/5a and a little extra depth. The soundstage is good but the BBC’s little gems out class the Tab’s in that department. For a small speaker the ProAc’s are incredible.. amazing little things.

why would anyone buy KEF drivers in another speaker - just buy the best speakers LS50's
Interesting you say that as my LS3/5a’s are actually Kef built under license from the BBC.
LS50’s are a great modern sounding speaker.
