What it is supposed to mean is when you are texting someone who is blue (i.e another iPhone user) it means you can text them free of charge/ it doesn't use your data to text them.
Atleast that was the original intent of them, i haven't used a Apple device in like 5 years so I don't know what could be different.
@@ramue5749 it does use your data. But it's a small amount since it's text. I get the surface. but what's app is for all phones and OS. So it just doesn't make sense
Americans still use SMS to text each other. When one iPhone user sends a text to a number of an other iPhone user, it shifts gears and instead of sending the SMS it sends the message over data. That's a blue message. These iPhone to iPhone messages may also contain multimedia content and stylization because of compatible proprietary software, so iPhone users get the feeling iMessage is such a great product and that SMS are so modern.
Meanwhile, when an iPhone user sends a text to a non-iPhone user's number, it'll send it as a plain SMS over the carrier's plan. These messages would be as simple as a regular SMS because the other side of the conversation doesn't have the proprietary software to display advances messages. So iMessage shows these messages as green, to inform the iPhone user that they can't use the extra features of the application with this recipient. Because of this association of limited features with the color green, American iPhone users have developed a distaste for texting non-iPhone numbers. It's become a social thing.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world abandoned SMS years and years ago, and uses WhatsApp or Telegram that offer the same uniform feature-rich experience over different devices and operating systems. So iPhone users in other countries might not even be aware of this green/blue bubble nonsense.

The only reason I can't leave the ecosystem is because I've only known Apple and Microsoft, but never Android. Every bit of my digital life is tied to Apple (specifically, my iphone 4s... yes, I still use a 4s in 2020. I'm poor.), and because Apple is SO garbage I can't transfer the most important things to my computer and start over fresh. It's such a stupid problem to have. Apple is so user-friendly that it's hard to get away when the alternative is like a foreign planet.

Well, at this point you guys deserve what's coming to you.
They always used the excuse of being 'locked in' to the Apple ecosystem to be afraid of jumping ship, but everything is via third party streaming services now I doubt they have anything on iTunes worth not bailing on. Putting personal images and videos on to another cloud service would take a day tops. I just want to see one of them with a flagship Android device. (Burnies 2 minutes with a Pixel 3 doesn't count)
They have been apple sheep for over 20 years, they aren't going to switch.

It's so stupid, but once you have it, you don't want another phone. I bought the Note 7 and downgraded to the 5 when they did the recall, and damn I've been missing the convenience of what the 7 had. I'm upgrading to the 9 in a few weeks.
I could never not have a Note at this point. I'll be sad if/when they finally discontinue the product for good.
Not to mention they can just rip all of their MP3s and movies and stuff off of their iPhone and slap it into an SD card, right? I mean, I'm sure there has to be some computer apps and stuff to do that since apple is such a piece of shit about people accessing their own files on their phone.

Sell of your Apple products and buy equally good android products with the money you get. Since companies that sell android don't price gouge your dick off, I'm sure the money you get from selling an iPad would be enough to get you the Android equivalent brand new.

why should i buy a laptop that costs the same as a really high end computer with the specs that barely outshines the rig sitting at your grandparents' house? it feels like you pay 75% for the name alone, and 25% of the actual product, and even then it kinda feels like you're getting ripped.
i get that it's an amazing platform to work on, but if you want to play a video file that was created in Imovie or whatever, you gotta convert the sucker. do the same on a computer running windows and the bastard plays it just fine, no problem for some dumb reason.
you pay the equivalent of a used car to have the privelege of being in the "cool kids" group while having service that just barely makes it acceptable.

I"m trapped in Apple. I only have an iPhone because I have an iPad, and I only have an iPad because I have a heavily biased aunt who convinced my grandfather to buy it for me for high school graduation.
Same with me... Got an iPad for graduation. I'm stuck until I find a way to move game saves and music to Android. I can't wait to be able to buy equally good hardware at half the price and be able to choose between 20 different brands instead of one.

I've always had iphones and I recently got a macbook pro, I have 0 complains. Maybe I'm the exception to the rule.
My only ‘venture’ into the Apple ecosystem is my 7+ (always owned some iOS device for my smartphone, but no PC or watch) and honestly...Kinda want to stick around until the next launch.
They screwed themselves on naming with the whole 8/X thing, and then dug in heels when they did XS/XR, plus I’m hoping the next model isn’t notched and sans Touch ID. If so...7+ indefinitely.
My iPhone 5 had better battery life than my iPhone 7. They’re only a few years apart! When I went to summer camp (a week long), my iPhone 5 went down by just 50% (super infrequent use cause I had to monitor most activities because I was the oldest kid) and the next year my iPhone 7 was minutes away from running out. I just don’t get how that happens.

I recently had to get a new phone because my old iPhone (iPhone SE gen 1) started to conk out, the Bluetooth turned itself off and would not turn on again, the battery started to drain quicker and the charging port wasn’t connecting properly. I checked everything, updated it, backed up and reset it and they didn’t solve the software issues so the last thing I had to do is get the battery replaced. Last time I got my battery replaced I was told to drain the battery completely but it wasn’t done by an apple technician, I made an appointment and I got there 5 mins late, because parking was a nightmare, the appointment cancelled itself and I ended up having to wait in an apple store with a flat phone and they said they couldn’t do anything about my battery. Got my new phone about a week later and the cord that came with it was lightning to USB-C, I ended up having to buy a new brick to use the new charger, thankfully I kept the old charger (which was lightning to USB) to plug it into my laptop to restore all my data on it

I'm using a Huawei Honor 7X, and it also works like a dream. I've never owned an iPhone, so I can't make any comparisons. Although, the whole thing about how China might be able to spy through Huawei seems kind of spooky.

So I like coming back to this video and watching it every now and again. I've switched to a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and it hasnt pissed me off like my goddam iphone used to. I'm green to everyone else but for me everyone is just yellow so I have no issues at all. Gus needs to switch and set the precedent.

As an update in 2019 I am pretty sure they all still use apple across the board, apart from Burnie's laptop. I believe they all use iphones still.

I own a 6 year old sony phone, does its job perfectly. Zero problems, other than space and a little slow on using more modern apps. The amount of pleasure I get gloating about my phone being better, not only cheaper, lasted FAR longer, and has NEVER ONCE CRACKED OR CHIPPED (the casing has a little chip, but the screen isn't), Yet the amount of times Im talking with my friends at work, and notice their phone is cracked. Low-and-behold its an Apple. Just stop buying

If you think Apple's software is bad, you should see their hardware, the last Apple product I used was a pair of Beats headphones, they kept breaking on me
That's probably one of the worst things about Apple. They have no redeeming quality. Their software is a mess and doesn't work, then their hardware is never as good as the competition either. They have nothing going for them except a fashion brand name that people flock to.
