- Millions of people in the U.S. don't have enough food or access to healthy food.
Feeding America says more than 44 million people, including 1 in 5 children, face hunger.
In 2022 alone, 49 million people turned to food assistance for extra help.
The House Farm Bill's $30 billion cuts may affect SNAP benefits. Those cuts could affect the costs of a healthy, realistic diet and weaken SNAP's effectiveness in reducing food insecurity and poverty.
Ty Jones Cox, the Vice President for Food Assistance at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities spoke with Roland Martin about the egregious cuts that Republicans have proposed to SNAP.

Closing tax loopholes, tax havens, and ensuring the wealthy paid their fair share in taxes would have a stronger impact on the deficit than cutting benefits from poor folks who can barely afford food.

Wrong. Biden even admitted that his wealth tax would increase tax revenue by $50billion/year. Our deficit is $3.5trillion/year. That’s almost a 2% increase in tax revenue (aka 2% increase in the amount snap benefits you get). Not to mention that the top 1% already pay about 30-40% of all taxes. Tax them even more and they’ll find more loopholes. The true problem is government. Govt has to stop spending. They can’t take care of everyone. This entire system is built on capitalism and competition. That means there are winners and losers. If everyone wins that means everyone loses and that’s basically communism.
The reason the economy is so terrible right now is because the government has taken on too much debt. And debt must always be paid back. Society goes through these cycles of debt and credit. The USA had a large credit and the world owed our country a lot but now the tables have turned and now we are in debt to the world. We have gotten too fat and happy. No more “take care of me Uncle Sam”. It’s time to go to work. We have trillions of $$$ to pay off

I am a senior citizen, and still work part time, my snap benefits only last me for about 9 days, I have to spend the rest of my money for food. My social security payment is very low, so I am the low income person that is not on the books, this is terrible
Sign up for Meals on Wheels and tap into your local food shelf. If you need help accessing those services talk with the SNAP office and they should be able to get you set up with a caseworker/social worker to help get those food needs addressed.
Folks grow as much as u can, even if it’s on a small patio. Shop local farmers-3 to 4 families come together to purchase meat & eggs.
People need to eat. Children need food everyday! Just because you have enough food doesnt mean everyone does.

I'm a Didabled Vet on SNAP. $222 a month. I eat once a day, 64 yes old, 100 lbs at 20lbs lower than I should be, and live in Hawaii. $200 is 3..yes 3 bags of foid. My Dr. Says I'm malnutrition AND I have Lupus. They're trying to starve us just like 3rd world countries. Trying to eat healthy, that's 2 bags of food.
Are you working with anyone through the VA? I'd give them a ring and explain your situation and the need for a caseworker/social worker to help set up food deliveries from a food shelf and meals on wheels. Or if you have the number for the SNAP office you're working with you can give them a call and request an assessment for in home services which would also set you up with a social worker to help with getting you food. There is help out there but it does take some work on our end.
My sister is disabled, she lives in Indiana and she gets 20 dollars a month for snap.

I am a senior I receive around $900 per month for disability and receive $90 dollars on snap I still have to submit my snap with around $200 per month and the food don't last all month because things are so expensive now
As a military family, we were on food stamps, and that really confused me growing up. I didn't realize until i became an adult with kids, just how much military families struggle to feed their family, and that should never be when you are serving a country that has BILLIONS to give away to other countries. Make it make sense.
