It makes sense with the context. The house is hers, but the person is strange. She probably was used to her people, and couldn't understand why they were gone and a new person was taking her space.

I had a very close friend of sorts as a cat that lived next door to me, when I learned that he been put down due to health reasons, I felt extremely sad because he was a really friendly cat and I was quite fond of him even if he wasn't my cat but I know his owners did care about him as he was a part of their family, whenever they went away we were entrusted to keep an eye on him and their house!
I could hear the lady on the other side of the phone trying not to cry but her voice cracked 😥. So sad that they did not allowed animals. But I am happy that ate the end she warmed up to this young lady. I do really hope if she moves one day , that were she goes , animals are allowed. So she's🐈 not abandoned. Thx you dear for taking her in.🤗🤗

People will say she should have looked harder or done something more but she wasn't really her cat in the first place. Unfortunate that her new place doesn't allow pets. I could feel her heartbreak because I too was in a difficult position, choose my dogs or go homeless in my car. I went homeless with the dogs but that's not a choice I can morally tell anybody in that position to make nor would wish anybody to make. It's horrible all around. I'm glad this kitty got a happy ending.
I would take the cat in and take care of it and tell the lady my contact information. If she ever got to a place that allowed cats and wanted to I would take the cat to her so they could be reunited. T___T
