You should watch/listen to these three song lyric videos in the order they are on the album: A.I., Singularity and The Mask Slips Away (all available on this channel) and then see if it makes more sense. Like many good songs and almost all Red songs, there are several layers of or possible meanings, depending on your personal experiences but I think the overall theme here is about their concern over the literal loss of humanity due to runaway technology, A.I. and the coming singularity, where humans and machines merge into one collectively conscious entity with obviously catastrophically negative consequences. The mask in this song is the mask of humanity that will slip away as we merge with machines. "I tried to hold you, tried to keep you. Love you, save you, but you're gone." Humanity will be gone and humans, as God imagers with all our frailty, vulnerability and beauty, and ability to be reconciled to God through the blood of Christ, will be gone. Scary thought. For more info, do research regarding Trans-humanism, Humanity Plus, The Singularity, etc.. It's a bit old (2015), but a good introduction to the subject is "Inhuman: The Next and Final Phase of Man is Here" from Skywatch TV. It is a documentary where they interview leading trans-humanists and experts on the subject about trans-humanism and our future. It comes from a Christian standpoint, but several of the interviewees are not Christians. Red band members are all Christians, but I would not call them a "Christian Band".

@@ericneilson3817 I didnt notice you made this comment until now, but what you said is very interesting. I always saw Red's songs as Christian, though. I understand the concept of the singularity, but because of the "these are the final hours" part of Singularity, it makes me think of Revelation, same thing with Falling Sky. I understand humanity is falling apart, technology is, in a way, taking us over. I know that the Singularity won't be our downfall, our end is what the Bible says our end is. One last thing is I thought Red is a Christian band. Wouldn't you say that a song is subjective but the meaning behind it isn't?
