- Most Dangerous Ways To School - Colombia
In northern Colombia, in the region Bajo Cauca, more than 180 miles north of Medellín, the landscape is marked by water and seemingly endless expanses. Every day, the children who live there face this rough, unpredictable wilderness - with just one goal in mind: making it to school. Because this is their chance to break out of poverty and create a better life. Like the ten year old Kendys and the other schoolchildren.
For this, they subject themselves to a daily dose of danger. Some of them must cross a ramshackle bridge that could collapse at any moment. Like the ten year old Kendys and some other schoolchildren. One false step and they could drown or break their legs.
Ten-year-old Juan does not have to cross the bridge, but first he has to cross a river in an extremely wobbly canoe, and then walk through deep mud full of stingrays. Although his way is dangerous, he’s glad that he can go to school at all. It brings him a little closer to his dream of moving to a big city.
The children face all this under tough conditions. The temperature is already 34 degrees Celsius in the morning, with humidity at 97 percent. In order to get closer to their wishes and dreams, each day these children carry not only a backpack, but also the fear - on one of the world’s most dangerous ways to school.

They pray before starting class 🥺 Lord forgive me if I ever complain about anything 😔

Well in the Caribbean we pray everyday starting of school and the ending
Back in my home country El Salvador we would also pray before starting the day or eat and at the end we would help clean

It’s Vero’s life in my school we pray before class everyday and I live in Australia
Nobody talks about how amazing their teacher is?
She travels 7 hours to go there, she encourages them to do what they're good in and where they're interests are and teaches several grades at the same time.
Mad respect!
Agree!
I fear once she wants to have her own family, or to gain some wealth and security for herself, she will leave teaching.
She deserves compensation for the job she does, so she is able to stay and share her amazing gift and tender heart.
Girl yes! She almost made me shed a tear. Alot of the educator's in America have a bad reputation for not truly caring about the well being of the children. Some do it for a measly paycheck. She's a blessing. 🌹💐
She's from Medellin also. If you've ever been to Medellin you will see a cosmopolitan city that rivals any city. To go from there to living in the backwoods must have been one hell of a shock.
One-room schools are still used today, with only one teacher, teaching all grades in America.
Very rural areas and even the Amish teach that way.
It used to be that way everywhere.
And, when our grandparents told us those stories about how they made it to school, believe them. Yeah, it's a joke everyone tells these days, but as you can see in these videos, it's common in places around the world.
she also spends her OWN money to get the kids the supplies they need. Hats off, what an amazing lady
Watching Juan find so much happiness on his trying route makes my heart explode 😭 he's so tired but still finds a reason to play. What an amazing pure hearted boy
Honestly who are the camera people who do these type of documentaries ? The way they film in dangerous situation & making it look so smooth is impressive. It’s as if we’re looking from the eyes of the kids having to travel to school
I appreciate that too
isn't that the point?
They are exposing a reality
Yes I have to send love to everyone involved took work to find a family, travel with equipment, to edit, and ect.

Buen documental, gracias.

God bless those teachers and children.

I was literally crying about my “problems” then God called me to get on CZcams and watch an uplifting video… I was looking for a sermon or motivational speaker but instead I found this video and I’m so grateful I did. These young children want so much out of life that they are risking their life to do it… so inspiring !!!! I dried up my tears then wanted to cry more tears FOR THEM …
What a lovely teacher. Government should sponsor her. She does a great job. Bless her
@Cindy Lawrence Seriously? the govt. should sponsor those kids so they can atleast get something, as basic as education! without having to think about DYING in the process!!
It’s really not that easy trust me. (Before you say anything, im Colombian so I know)

I really need to show this to my son. These children are so privileged nowadays, that it makes no sense. The children in this video just inspire me so much. I hope they receive all blessings that life has to give 🙏🏿
This is a real teacher. She truly enjoys her job.
Simone Lemmie Yeah, that’s rare nowadays.
Poor Baby girl that's scared of heights. That just shows you her tenacity!
It broke my heart. I feel for her. I too am afraid of heights. And the heat!! Omg. Those poor children.
@i love wood and axes get off of CZcams 8 year old
I have a lot of respect for different cultures that have to endure such harsh means and still push to better themselves! Mad respect ✊
This teachers dedication and love for these kids! There are other episodes where the children got corporal punishment for being late despite their dire circumstances. Where the teachers openly derided the kids for being “the poor ones” that “they just can’t learn well because of where they come from” and the classes seemed cold and lacking joy. This woman uses her meager paycheck to buy supplies, smiles and laughs with the children, engages them, and understands what they go through to be there and in life in general and makes class everyday engaging, educational( for 3 different levels) and fun. Absolutely amazing. I wish there was a link for donating supplies.
The fact that these kids travel like this everyday, but still get to school and laugh and enjoy the day,is amazing. They don’t even get a nap time but they don’t complain
Rima SINGLEinNY omg I know when I seen poor Juan in the mud in the am waist deep in water I said to myself that I wouldn’t be able to deal with that everyday for school. I’d quit .
I was wishing the teacher would squeeze a naptime into their day. Too bad they didn't have an hour during the day for sleep and could have comfy sleeping bags or yoga mats left at the school to lay on during a nap time.
Kids in America, need to watch this document.
Because is love nature and happy with nature not like country people have many problem stressed and only focus to make perfect

I am 15 and I live in Bogotá, Colombia, and I am lucky to have been born in a middle class family, and fortunately I have not lacked anything in life, I have had a great education, and I am very grateful to God and to life to be able to have everything I have, because I could have been like any of these children, who can hardly be educated, unlike I who have always been able to. I have always had hope, this new generation will change the history of Colombia, I keep waiting for the day when narcos who govern us will go to hell, and that Colombia can finally have what we deserves: Peace and equality.
The teacher is very admirable for using her personal funds, find fun ways and means in teaching, and become a parent to different children in school. Keep it up teacher!
I know & also since she is the only teacher she has to stay there at night there all by herself, that’d be scary for me!
Just as so many teachers do in America.
Their teacher's commitment to her class is incredible. She's wonderul. She deserves the world. Those kids are so lucky to have her teaching them 🧡
All i can see is love
hope the Colombian government saw this and make a bridge for these children so they easily go to school safe.

As an educator, I have mixed feelings after watching this! I feel inspired and happy for these kids buy also sad at the struggles that they go through in search of education. UNICEF, Colombian government, other NGOs and interested parties can make a difference!
You can also make a difference. Those who see a problem but think others should help, are the reason many problems never get solved

Seek out a charity that helps school children in Colombia. And help them. It’s in your power to do so.

This teacher is adorable, she is considerate towards the kids.
You can see that she being the way she is alone, that is encouraging enough to the kids to attend classes.
Enough respect to their teacher, she is going through a lot (from her sleeping room and the fact that she sacrifices some of her salary on the learning materials for children) to ensure that the children's dream come true. She is a hero.
I am amazed at the lengths these children go to for an education. The ambition!! And the teachers! I tip my hat to them. There is definitely a place in heaven for them all!

@maniac9565 first of all you don’t call him a bastard because that is a insult to God, and you’ve really offended me. Second of all it’s not Gods fault it’s the leaders, God made human beings to help with the world and also to teach their children what to do and not. Even if you don’t believe in him you can help these types of children in the future to have better and safer life. So don’t blame God, blame the leaders, even if you don’t believe in him.
@maniac9565 Look how am I a dangerous worshipper you name me something which I have texted for me to say That, “I’m a dangerous worshipper”, I’m a Christian thank you very much, you just said that God is a Bastard for not helping those people. God gave humans brains for a reason to make them smart to help everything in the world and teach their children the goods and the bad but obviously some of them are not doing that I even said do not blame God and Jesus blame the people who are the leaders of the country all they want is money they don’t help the kids they just want the money so that their family can be rich so don’t tell me to open my eyes if you don’t agree my opinion fine, all I’m saying is that you are blaming someone higher than you for not helping those kids why don’t you as a human being who’s got brains even me as well and everyone else who is having a better life than these kids can HELP! And I never mentioned that God was a religion I know that he’s a spirit, but you’re a human being so you can do incredible things that will please everyone and almighty God.
@maniac9565 Look if you don’t believe In God them don’t. As I said you’ve got brains just like me and everyone else so USE THEM!!
@maniac9565 why should I fear God everyone is a sinner but he will forgive you. Just because you do one mistake doesn’t mean you will go to hell all you need to do is to learn from them. So how on earth are you afraid of people like me? We haven’t done anything wrong for people to fear us, a lot of people are Christians including celebrities. And obviously I know the facts you’re saying I read the bible when I was young and watched stories. Everyone has opinions about everything, you shared your opinion I shared mine and that’s fine I’m done with this conversation I hope you have a good day and I’m done with your rudeness.
@maniac9565 O MY!! I KNOW THAT HE’S A SPIRITUAL LEADER SO DON’T KEEP COMMENTING ABOUT YOU CANT GO WITH HIM THROUGH RELIGION, I NEVER MENTIONED THAT YOU’RE REALLY PISSING ME OFF!

36:59 Huge respect to the teacher, it took a big heart and a lot of dedication to teach the way like her, and those little kisses from the students are probably mean the world to her. (Even though here in US could possibly get you arrested, lol~) Ps: The girl at the beginning is stunning, almost like a model. Best wishes to them all. This is no doubt one of my favorite document series. :)
Magnificent!!!! Another beauuuuuuuutiful story!!! May God keep these children safe! Thank you for this story!
the boy will grow up to be a hardworking young man.God bless his heeart
I like these documentaries but please how can we help these kids
My heart is breaking seriously
@God's Baby Girl same! but I seriously don't know how we can help??😓
We can initiate a project and NGO aiming to help these and other kids in need of help.
It's not hard... I've seen these types of comments so many times in this doc series....I don't understand how people don't think about just contacting the people that made these documentary? Wouldn't that be a good place to at least start? The name is right at the end of every single one of these documentary. All you have to do from there is look them up online!!!!
I'd be so curious to know from all the comments I've seen from people saying they want to do this and that for the kids...how many have actually done anything!!!????
I agree. First of all is the look at the location. Secondly see how much would it be to get an structure built with the proper judgement for the area and possible water issues and thirdly pay a company to do so by raising some funds.
@@Ms_Tania and what have you done? If you haven't done anything then shut the hell up bitch!
This brakes my heart to see young kids walking miles just to get to school. New Zealanders are taking advantage. We need to help these kids make it to school easier.
I will never complain walking a couple of blocks walking to school as a kid. To all of these kids, may you all continue to learn and prosper. Hope you all make your dreams come true. ❤
