J’s rap is phenomenal, but we can’t overlook Eli’s “This is war!!” and Geoff’s sustained B0 during that section either! Pure insanity!
Until this dropped, I thought Eli was absolutely the tops at portraying a crazed Viking. But Cesar's giving him a run for his money now, in a relatively calm homicidal way.
Meanwhile Geoff is a personified war horn. haha

Just when you think they've reached their best. Words fail on this one but the goosebumps are still there. I made a bet you'd wreck your headphones and need new ones. Layne killing it on vo-perc, Eli worshipping a dark god, Geoff being the dark god, Cesar as an angry warrior and J being J......perfection. Gotta love Norse mythology and the Marvel franchise. I am so sick of them not winning awards. This is so much better than anything PTX has ever done and it's time they got recognized for it. Eli put in a TON of work on this one but they filmed this at Vu instead of PattyCake this time.
Those huge screens in the back were amazing. I think they should give us a tour of that studio in the Patreon pages. I’m intrigued at how they were able to do all that.
I personally don't like comparing VP with PTX regarding the music but VP truly has the best production and visuals (especially the makeup and costumes)

Fierce Cesar broke me. This is my dream vp line up. I played this in my car and people were looking at me with amazement and asked who was singing.
Layne is the arranger of this epic arrangement. I have no words. I watched it shortly after they released it. I’m still speechless.

Minding my own business, going about my day, expecting nothing special...then that happened. Eli and his backgrounds and effects, Layne and his vocal effects, Cesar getting absolutely fierce, Jnon...and then Geoff...Then Eli came in and went super high. Every talent on full display.
Miracle of Sound is an indie artist who makes songs inspired by video games, movies, and some TV series. He'll also throw in some Irish folk-related songs, which are pretty damned awesome. Anything related to the God of War franchise of his is pretty epic, too. He's worth reacting to, too.

I think the MOST surprising thing for me was how FIERCE Cesar got a few times! Of course Geoff with the Earthquakes... and J helping us realize that Viking music is an appropriate RAP forum!!?? WHAT?? Ellie never fails to amaze me... SO versatile. Finally (not last), Layne's insanely SICK arrangement powers. A gift from Odin, perhaps? Stunning. Great reaction!

That's definitely one of those songs that leaves you feeling pumped and like you can take on the world.
My prediction is that QoFy’s facial expressions are going to be legendary, Mortius will be left stuttering, Kaz will pause a billion times, and Peter will TRY to keep his video under an hour. 😏

This was filmed on a giant LED screen vs a green screen. It turned out amazing

One slight correction for you: this was shot in a volume studio, much like The Mandalorian, called Vu Studio (pronounced view). The LED volume screen is 155 ft wide and 26 ft high. It's not green screen at PattyCake, though they did provide some costume and prop pieces (Cesar is wearing Jose's robe from My Mother Told Me). Yeah. Pretty much. No words. Reactor DJ__410 fell out of his chair at least twice. Yeah. This is the most epic video/singing I have seen from our guys yet. They are the absolute drama/theatrical singers ever! Song is from Assassin's Creed I have been told. Yeah. 😮😮
Your reaction is the first one I've viewed for this amazing video, and I just had to share some info I have about the making of it: Not sure if you are a patreon of VP, but their behind the scenes video was pretty interesting: They filmed this song at a larger studio, (probably for the more elaborate set than Patty Cake has), on a hot Fla. day. Kathy (Jeff's wife and helper around the entire effort) was supposed to pick up J.None at the airport from his long flight from the West coast, at 8 a.m. of that day...And sure enuff, the flight was about 3 hours late! So they went on and started up on the recording...and almost instantly, the air conditioning failed...and them in heavy furs and makeup! Aarrrrggggh! When J.None finally arrived, (I'm not sure, but I suspect) it's why they added him in as the one who entered their Viking hall after the song had begun...it's certainly reasonable. (And that RAP he laid on us is full compensation for his tardiness!) Also, in their patreon video, released a LOOOONNG two weeks ago, there were a couple of suggestions for improvement from some people in the business, who know about such things, that they obviously took the time to correct...and it improved the entire video enormously...it's almost just perfect...well...really perfect, now. But I realized after watching all this melodrama, just how HARD they all work and struggle with their seemingly effortless offerings...and how they made this one as good as it is, in spite of all the setbacks, just makes it that much more amazing and special for me...So glad you threw the earphones! That B-0 from Geoff is like so spine-tingling! J.None's rap was astounding, and his expression were chilling!!! The harmonies were sublime. The beatboxing, freakin phenomenal, Eli's soaring full-voiced SOPRANOS!!! Ceasar was amazing, the WHOLE thing was amazing! Love your channel, man!
I love Miracle of Sound. He created this song based off Assassins Creed Valhalla video game. As far as I know it is most popular song to date and a bunch of covers have been done from heavy metal to now acapella. Voiceplay did hit this out of the park. Absolutely love this version!
The more I listen to this song the more I’m convinced that Geoff could give bass guitars some lessons on how to be played.
They’re still saying they’re a quintet in the description, so it seems like THEY feel like J.None is still a member as well. Two years. Aaagh.
Everybody seriously gets their rock god on for this one-who knew Cesar had so much fierceness in him. And J. with the EYES during that rap session-if he looked at me like that I’d beg for mercy. Eli-we knew he had it in him but holy crap! Geoff’s voice alone could clear a battle field. And Layne-GENIUS arrangement yet again, love his creativity, and we get to hear him sing-and then he hits us with more crazy beatbox sounds. Yet again they top themselves. Makes me want to go fight someone-and I’d lose BIG! LOL.
If you haven’t heard the original, you should. These guys changed it up enough it’s futile to compare but the original is also genius. @MiracleofSound featuring Peyton Parrish. Definitely check it out.

J None’s flight was three hours late so he was at the studio three hours past the start time; the AC was on the fritz at the studio (Vu, not Pattycake this time), Eli got no sleep the night before - look at his credits - and he and Cathy, the insomniac duo, were messaging in the middle of the night - you get the drift. The behind the scenes was amazing. And sweaty.
I have to agree with you. They keep raising the bar to dizzying heights with each new production.

Look up a guy who goes by the name Miracle of Sound; I believe he wrote the song. He did a duet of this with Peyton Parrish. Then about 4 or 5 months ago they remade it with another man who has an extremely deep bass voice. I would suggest you listen to both videos. Even if you don't do a reaction to them both, check out the duet and the trio.

I absolutely loved what you said about trying to do better one day at a time. Before Voiceplay I’ve been trying to have the energy to do the things I want to do…I noticed how they seemed to always 1up themselves and it inspired me to start digging my heels in the dirt and take whatever comes my way. I gained the courage to do hard things. In the week that I’ve been binging everything of theirs in sight I’ve been able to finish my business logo in that week where before that it laid unfinished for about 3-4 years.
It’s almost like music (especially their’s) is the key to unlocking all the things I was struggling with in my life. Thank you so much for this reaction video.

Somehow, they managed to make MMTM seem tame. Every time I watch it I feel like taking a nap because I’m so exhausted . I think the biggest surprise for me was seeing Cesar so fierce. We already knew Eli was crazy, Layne was demented and Geoff could look threatening. J as always was epic. And then they rolled it all up and turned it in to fierce Cesar. I do really like the end where he sounds sort of plaintive before the final ending. It reassured me that he had not gotten around the bend for good.
Although I am not a fan of rap this was, like in Superstition, very well done. A little long for my personal taste but they did it really well. The lyrics were spot on.
Everyone I watch it, I want to leap up, grab a sword and find someone to run through, lol.
It has so much attitude that it’s contagious.

I'd heard this song a lot recently (found the original whilst lost down the CZcams rabbit hole, also a metal version by Jonathan Young) and had thought that VP could do a great version. When VP put out their "short" for this I could hardly wait for the full thing. This morning an audio only version popped up on my feed and I was just the teensiest bit disappointed because there didn't seem to be any of the grit and gravel from Eli that I'd expected but when the actual premiere happened it seemed so much more EPIC. I've played it over and over in the couple of hours since it's release. Geoff's bass turns me to mush every time, Eli and Cesar's rock god grit is perfect.... the whole thing is amazing! It was added straight to my Vikings playlist, to join the 4 other versions that I have saved there.
I think J's rap must have been written especially by them for it because I've never heard anything like it in any other version that I've heard. Never would have thought of rap being included in this song but it works!

The song was produced by Miracle of Sound. Miracle of Sound is an artist that specializes in composing songs and music based off of video games. He is a musical genius. This particular song was inspired by the Assassin's Creed Valhalla set in the Viking era.
In the VP video comments there's a compliment from Miracle of Sound (the original artists - who wrote the song for Assassin's Creed).
You should definitely check out the original artist. There are 3 different versions released by Miracle of Sound: a solo, a duet with Payton Perrish, and a trio with Payton and Eric Holloway. (probably misspelled some names)

Firstly… re “Layne what was that?!”. It wasn’t Layne. That was the creaking door opening that J came in through. Don’t feel bad. You’re the third reactor I’ve seen blame Layne for that. 😆
Secondly: my fave moment was something I’ve been wanting them to do for a while. After the rap, Geoff and Eli do a duet, each pushing their limit with no one in between. And it sounds SO GOOD to me. If they’ve ever done that before, I missed it.
I loved Cesar getting snarly. Haven’t heard that from him before. I knew he had more in the tank than we’ve seen. I feel he still has more. VP wouldn’t have wanted him if he had common limits. 😉
Lastly, I have seen them live. I caught their last show before the pandemic. (Well, last on land. They had a cruise.) It made me a patreon. I signed up on intermission.
You know how a bass guitar can make your ribs vibrate? Yeah. So can Geoff. And the place I was didn’t even have it that loud. But it’s not just ribs…he did a slide that I swear slid right down my spine. I was like…dude. I don’t know you this well. Get out if my pants already. 😳. But yeah. You listen to that man with your whole skeleton.

Valhalla Calling Me is a song by Miracle of Sound. He's an independent artist, he's been making music for years. This song in particular seems to have gone viral on him. :) i literally squealed like a little girl when I saw the notification from VP and realized they'd done a cover of this song! I'm still giddy about it! LOL.
Gavin is AMAZING at what he does, too! You should go give his original a listen. I love what VoicePlay has done with their cover, but Miracle of Sound's original is outstanding, too. He has lots of other music on his channel. You might enjoy a trip through his catalogue. He's very worth reacting to as well!
VP's production on this one was amazing. It really was very cinematic, and I absolutely LOVE that about them. They pull off the theatrical side of their work beautifully! Loved the reaction! The guys really were warriors on the day of the shoot, they battled hard to bring this to us. The A/C went out in the blistering heat of Florida in those hot, heavy leathers/furs. There's nothing these guys won't do.
Love your reactions to VP. These guys are beyond amazing and should be the biggest group in the world to me they are and I don't say that lightly. They deserve so much more recognition then they get. Always great and will continue to be really hope to see them live someday.
