My first car out of high school was a 1969 Ford Galaxie XL 2-DR. Fastback. I worked very hard to earn the money to pay cash up front for it. It was to this day the most beautiful car I have ever owned. It had the 390 with a 4 Barrel carb and dual exhaust. Maroon/white vinyl top and white interior. Because of that car I had more girl friends than I could count. LOL That car was built like a tank.

I had a friend in High School back in the mid-70's that had a 1969 Ford XL with a 390. He did close to the same thing done with your 69 XL...he went to a junk yard, and found a 427 out of a Ford station wagon, and put that in. His was Gold with Black vinal roof, and black interior with bucket seats center console auto shift.

My parents had a yellow XL, factory 429 4V. First and only time I drove over 120 mph. A beauty, and if not for OPEC 1973 sending gasoline to the sky high price of 45-50 cents, I probably would have bought it as my first car. In my zeal for economy, I bought a 72 Pinto Runabout (hatchback). Live and learn...

Cool car. My grandfather had a ’69 XL Sportsroof, Bright Blue Metallic with white vinyl top and interior with buckets and console with "U-bar" shifter. I always loved that car, especially the wrap-around "Flight-Cockpit Instrument Panel."
FYI this car is not a Galaxie. It is an XL. It was a separate model 1968-1970. The calling cards of the XL were bucket seats and console, but in later years the bench became standard and the XL's signature bucket seats with console became an option.

svisek....I had a 1966 Galaxie 500 XL with the console and automatic shifter with bucket seats.
The badging was on the car Galaxie 500 XL.

@@gtpcruiser02 Great ride! Yep, in '66 the XL was a Galaxie. It would not be a separate model until the 1968 model year.

I had a 71 galaxy with the fastback, should nave kept it! It was a nice one. It had the 390ci and a three speed standard on the column. It’d run like a raped ape! Lol. I had it about 30 YEARS ago...haha. But, it would leave Mustangs in the dust.. That “3 on the tree” was awesome...

Thirty years down the road and you are “mis-remembering”. The 1971 Galaxie did not have a fastback body option; that ended with the 1970 model. Technically, the 1969 and 1970 models were “Sportsroofs”; the side profile looked like a fastback, the the rear window was closer to vertical.

$14,000 for this the door is bad there is rust on the roof the seats are bad the quarter panel needs redone if the body was that bad you will find a lot of rust under the car. Cracked windshield I wouldn't give you $5,000 for it.

@@josephwatson2711considering I just bought a completely functional and complete, one owner, 69 XL convertible just in need of paint and with very little rust for $3K, $14k for this is astronomically high. I even got the original window sticker and a maintenance log running from 1969 to 1994.
