Performance demo starts at 4:25
Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater's Moog fanatic, demonstrates the very cool Moog Sub Phatty 25-key synthesizer. Daniel really shows off the performance potential of the Sub Phatty, thanks to its generous array of dedicated knobs.
Fisher explains the architecture of the Sub Phatty and its connections before demonstrating just some of the sounds you can create with it. First he plays a range of sounds with just the Sub Phatty, then through some the Moog Clusterflux and MF-104M Delay pedals to show even more creative potential.

After you watch, give this video a thumbs up and subscribe! 😎🤘
say please.
you're a great host! like your relationship to the instrument in approaching a synth, and doing it nice and simple to arm the masses with great skills in the addition of great sub-oscillators to their everyday lives, bars and tracks :) shoutout peggy
Got this synth yesterday. I like it so much I listen to demos at work while I can't use it.
Sick
I do that with my subsequent 37
That's a beautiful thing
Haha I watch minilogue videos at work 🤣
Did that with my deco :)
finally a guy who is not just playing keys, but also playing knobs... many talk, many play keys, you show us the sound! thanks
I shed a single man tear .. that sound is so beautiful . I need to buy myself a moog at all cost.
This thing has such an unmistable Moog sound to it. Beautifully warm.
Perfect demo, the use of the delay put this synth in the heaven. Very well done to Daniel Fisher and the audio and video technicians.
Best Sub Phatty video hands down. One of the best synth videos I've seen on CZcams.
Really musical demo/playing. One of the best I've heard in a long time. Good work.
Thanks for awesome demo and explain! I will buy this one! I'm in love with the sound!
I think it's great he presents the first half without effects, gives a good impression of the synth itself.
Best synth demo I've seen. Sr, you made want to buy this. Well played.
Awesome demo of an amazing synth! Still relevant in 2022!
Oh man, I LOVE Moog synths (well synths of all types, really... analog and digital). I do a lot of songwriting and synthwork on my channel, particularly with my Moog Mother-32. Now I'm looking for my next analog synth... the Sub Phatty is in contention for sure. Synthesizers are STILL the sound of the future. Keep pushing the envelope.
Thanks Dan, can always count on you for a thorough walk-thru!!
Truly a unlimited amount of sounds to work with. Very cool and hand-made too.
This guy did a great job with the demo. Definitely made me more seriously interested in obtaining a Sub Phatty.
This is a fantastic instrument with a fantastic demo. Kudos Daniel and Moog both.
All demos from Daniel Fisher - great!
12:00 - 13:20 speechless
wolfmap 100% agreed
He upsets himself!
Reminds me Trent Reznor with his typical cutoff overdrive guitar
Thats insane tone ! RIght at the Edge of Tomorrow .....
Thanks for watching - Moog actually makes the rackmount kit for Moogerfoogers, if you do a search on the Sweetwater site for "moogerfooger rack" it should appear as the first result. You can one rackmount kit to rack three Moogerfoogers, (or up to four CP-251-size units). The rack kit takes up six full rack spaces, so if you want to rack all 6 of your Moogerfoogers in one rack you'll need at least a 12-space rack.
Once you flipped on the effects, I literally began to hurt hearing you play it anymore. So GOOD! I've had pushed this synth off b/c of price and also the sub-menu like controls back when it first released. I got the minibrute for full hands on controls. Went and played this last week at your store. Aside from it's immediate weight, the synth it self is incredibly hot on the output. I turned the monitors to about 2, and the Sub Phatty to a bit more than 1 1/2 2 and I couldn't go any higher without it on the filter open blasting! . I did eventually want patch memory and for a nice price I have decided to get one!
I didn't really have much appeal to the moog just b/c I really couldn't justify cost so I brushed off the "legend" so to speak with it. But I've had about 4yrs to get to know my minibrute, and a few other synths along the way, microkorg, system1, roland mc-09, to the now Make Noise 0-Coast. Coming back full circle finally to moog. I wanted a semi-modular, it was mother 32(likely for the win), MS-20 mini (2 voices is hard to pass up on this monster at a steal), and then I found out about the 0-coast, and since that fills up the 20 and the 32 (it covers Ground!) I think it's a welcome comeback to this future LEGEND!
In person this synth is really unparalleled in it's own rich tone that is needlessly said "Classic". Raw like no other in ways, for bass and such I haven't had full measure in that exploration in the phatty but with the brute and the 0-coast to make 2 voices I really ripped the speakers equally on them as I did on the phatty at the store. So it took 2 synths to come up to meet the Moog in Raw Bass.
Excellent demonstration. Thank you!
So sick. You make me want to get eery synth you play!
I'm going to learn how use a synthesizer one of these days in the near future. Looks awesome and fun.
Peter Apetagon Absolutely the most fun and magical instrument one can play.
How's those days looking?
I went in blind and it was so fun. I hope you follow that course!
Don't worry, it's got 'em - check it out in more detail at the link in the video description, and thanks for watching!
I COULD LISTEN TO THIS ALL DAY
wonderful. That incredibile sound...I dream-thanks for this video, you are the good person and the great musician
Excellent job on the demo. I believe you covered most if not all the effects possible with each control.
I may not be talented, but at least I'm thorough! ;-) Thanks for watching!
Absolutely great Synth! Thanx for this excellent demo!
Great job, this is how you demo a synth. Thanks, I believe this will be my next purchase.
really good demo with all the info i need, thx mate.
From melodic to harsh!
Awesome piece of gear
Big thanks
Like a concert! Great demo.
Looks like an amazing synth.
Finally the Moog synth I've been waiting for!
This synth is very impressive!
13:24 says it all. Thanks Daniel for yet another great video.
Just bought this happy that this is my first Moog
Awesome piece of kit!
Great demo!
great demo Daniel !
best demo i've seen so far
that was so....incredible
Great demo.... well done!
This guys videos are always stellar
thanks for the demo! informative
Great performer !
My next synth for sure
Wow i didn't know it sounded that good...i may have to pick one up
That is the sexiest synth I've ever heard! Great demo, Mr. Fisher!
The delay in those sub octaves sounds so good. I think I might get the 37 key version when I can afford it.
sounds pretty authentic! certainly what i was used to back in the day with a real analogue synthesizer. did these sort of sounds on a VCS3.
Is this a real analogue synth or is it a digital reproduction of analogue?
Hi risvegliato, the Moog Sub Phatty has a 100% Analog audio path, from the oscillators, mixers, filter, and amp, to the final Output Jack. Thanks for watching!
one thing can say about this it is a real piece of kit, proper professional tool
turn on subtitles when he starts playing
Michael J "wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong why queer what world" lol
Wayne Brady the hines crop you!
"Hairy ass 24 steps up a twenty four steps down."
_dead_
Aron care empire care care you do xD
Michael J "Do you care, Rita? huh? no way, me hurl" I'm dying XD
12.20 sounds like it's from the film Forbidden Planet absolutely amazing.
As expected, Daniel hits another demo video home run.
Ok I have had one for a year and I enjoy making all those strange oscillator sounds and I love it electronically. I just haven't approached anything anywhere near Mini Moog sound to my ears.
I suspect it's me not the machine !
I keep telling myself when I get time I'll explore the computer program that comes with it that I believe can extend the versatility of the 16 or so presets that come with the unit stock. Probably another great feature of Moog is that they tend to hold at least three quarters of the initial value so you can only make so much of a mistake and you could probably trade up for not a lot of loss on your initial investment when you feel you need to
Ha! Choked up by his own jamming 13:20. Nice work.
Great demo thank you
My first synth!
Synthesizers are awesome.
7:16 definitely the sound I'm looking for
Sound at 12:41 was amazing!!!!
Thanks _DemonDan_ ! Great demo. Best one so far.
Amazing love it !!!
The best part about this video is:
-No shitty camera mic recording (on a busy showroom floor no less)
-More synth sounds, LESS TALK!
It gets really lame checking out all the diff sub phatty videos from NAMM when they are all the opposite of the above criteria. Just cut the mic, plug in, and play the damn thing!
Thanks Daniel. There's a lot more I'd like to hear but your vids are always among the more useful.
Cool sound!
Thanks Dan. As always, very informative and better sounding than the official Moog vids
Man I could be there for HOURS!
Best thing Ive ever heard in my life!
Genius! i have your "shine on" patch for kurzweil k2000, very realistic! greetings!
Definitely sounds phat! ;) Great demo... Moog is still putting out great gear to this day.
well here I agree ;) ! The base stuff is easier to use and more accessible than ever like you said, but this makes it also easier to produce crap and instantly publish it on the net. Finding the gems and what floats your boat takes some effort !
Sounds amazing
he says "when your ready to go to town, plug this thing into a bigger thing." HECK YES
great job
Around the 8:28 minute mark it sounded like a wind storm or something...Awesome device! Analog all the way!!!
The analogue is good!)
At the very least it cheers me up on dull day or perhaps it "focuses" my brain waves in beat to its Oscillators ! When I get the extra money I feel sure I'll trade up for a sub 37 unless I can come across the Mini Moog at a good price.
They are all very well-built machines.
The Voyager is a beast. I regret buying it from time to time, but then I just turn it on, and get lost in a dream world that reality can't produce. It's magical, and the experience is worth every penny while your enduring it.
Very cool!👍
Sorry, you're absolutely right! We misread the question: no CV outputs, only inputs. As Daniel mentions, many people will choose to use this as a module with a larger rig, and with only 25 keys this likely won't be the master controller in the rig. Hope that helps!
all synthesizer made by moog they have that uniquely special sound, it's like coca cola's special recipe
Really i never knew that. Do yo have this synth?
The Ma5ter Mau5 minus the original cocaine lol 😂
@@analogsynthplayer nope....still has it.....just a super super tiny amount. It is in fact, the only food product still allowed to be made coca leaf in it in contries that ban the coca leaf. They remove most of the cocaine, but some super super tiny amount still exists in Coca-Cola.
I like how the old stuff is coming back
Sounds great
Awesome!
Damn it! I think I like this more than my Little Phatty!! I like the fact there's no screen, and a sub oscillator!!
@7:35 that patch reminded me of the synth sound at the start of the song "Walking In Your Footsteps" by The Police, with some reverb added of course...
Ok i need one of these.
That is f**kin' sick
best demo ever
Wow, thanks, ARBIZA. It's crazy how much powerful sound can come from this synth. Thanks for watching!
Ok looking now where to put it in the studio :)
Is this moog oriented to bass sounds, and not to leads? or is just this demo?
What a sound, amazing for FX´s, also growls ...Really really sounds phatt. Incredible sound.
Amazing!!!
awesome machine
True dat! -_Daniel_
I want it o.o very succesful demonstration haha
Magnético estando ácido 🤩🔥
Cool Thanks !!
This was actually filmed in 1988. Daniel is now 68 years old. Wish I got one of these when they came out, or a sub37. but I didn’t take hardware synths seriously. Now I find myself wanting that moog sound on a physical knob. 😔
Hi Nick. As of this reply, I'm only 60;-)
The Subsequent 25 is exactly this and more:
