Unboxing PETKIT PuraX Auto Self-cleaning cat litter box

- We decided to invest a self-cleaning cat litter box to make our life easier.
PETKIT has recently launched their really minimal looking auto litter box and without second thought, we got it from their 11.11 sales in Taobao China.
The only risk is the warranty, because they did not officially launch in our country Malaysia. In case anything happen, the international shipping is too costly to ship back and fourth.
We will be reviewing our experience at our instagram account often, so please follow to learn more about it, or ask us questions there.
Cleaning cat litter is an everyday job for more than 10 years, so I personally thinks its a great investment to have in your cat parenting life.

Can you tell me your opinion on the petkit tofu litter?
In the US , we only have one option to buy with a manufactures warranty. It is much more expensive than other automatic litter boxes, but it comes with 1 year free petkit tofu litter. Thank you!
the machine itself works perfectly until now, im not sure about the US warranty, but I'm from Malaysia, although it have a warranty, but I won't be shipping it back to china if something goes wrong because it's too pricey, this is a risk I'm willing to take

Probably need a pet staircase version so it can hold more cat stuff. Longer time between emptying.
better clean out the bin regularly, as the waste might have bacteria from leaving too long

Hi, I have a 6 month cat and I just bought this machine. He won’t use it. I’ve tried putting treats inside the machine but he only goes inside for the treats and then goes back into his 10$ crate litter box. He also enjoys watching its cleaning cycle but still only goes in his old litter box. Any suggestions/help? He’s a big cat but he seems to move around well when getting the treat and circling around to get out.
Try putting some of their used litter in there and use a book or brick for step at first, thats what I would try.

yes, but it won't does the same effect on litter box that made for wood pellet litter, because the sand will still be in it

How it's happen when totally change the litter all about every 2 weeks ? the litter come in totality in the garbage box ?
there's a function/mode for you to empty the litter box completely into the bin.

yup, you can still use without the liquid, the app will show when the liquid is empty, but doesnt affect anything
Hi, been looking at these, but am wondering what happens if you put something in it while it is turning? Does it have a safety stop? What if a cat jumped in while it was turning? Concerned that there is a hole there. I can imagine one of the cats trying to check it out. Thanks so much.
Hi, the machine can detect weight, so it won't turn If there are activities in it which detected by weight. Also if it's turning, the machine will stops when their infrared detector senses movement outside the litterbox incase a cats jumps in.

Thank you for the review. Do you have any issues with cat's poop not get scoop out? Since the scoop has bigger holes than other litter box in the market, I think it might have issue scooping smaller pieces. Sorry for TMI. 😅 My cat is pretty small so I'm worried it would not work for her.
Smaller sized poop might stayed in , but those poop don’t really affect the smell much, and it happens really rare. So I will use normal scoop to check during I clean up the litter waste drawer once a week.

Anyone try litter like "yesterdays news" pellets? If so how does it clean the urine out as it goes to dust.
the pellet litter still works by cleaning the poos ,but the remain sand/dust won't be cleared out.

So far it work perfectly , the only flaw is have to use their brand’s odour spray liquid, so I had to order from taobao once in a while or just stock up a big batch.

not recommended, as pine wood palette litter need a 2 layer litter box to separate the sand

@@tofufamily5782 wow.. this is great.. i bought similar one (different brand) and all instructions are in Chinese. Every time I need to set up the wifi I'm having problems and it took a lot of time to understand.
the first issue I see is that the holes are too big, so only really big clumps would go to the bin
Because we're using Tofu Litter, they clump up very nice and firm, so far we hasn't had the issue yet
Mine broke after 14 months. Out if warranty and cant use it- unless keep it and still have to scoop from now on. Common issue is the weight sensor that it erroneously identify cat is inside, even if it’s not. So it will not cycle/clean. Support is no help, no tutorials or parts replacement whatever if you want to repair it etc. well at least i have a very convenient life for 14months- $600 worth of convenience.

its the deodoriser for the poop collected in the drawer , its very effective
can we use other deodorizer besides using the petkit brand?
Not recommended, because we don't know will it be compatible with their nozzle, after few week of using it, we realise the deodoriser is not a necessary thing.
@@tofufamily5782 you mean there's no need to use the deodorizer? i tried using the spray deodorizer from other brand and it seem working but at the beginning its not. so am not sure if its possible to use other brand deodorizer
@@emmamarsha8952 did you pour the other brand's deodoriser into the slot? or just spray manually? I tried skipping using the deodoriser for 2 weeks, and it seems fine, no smelly odour despite I only change the plastic once a week
@@tofufamily5782 yes i poured the deodorizer into the slot. but at the beginning it didn't spray out. next i found out that the notification sent me message that i need to fill in the deodorizer because its empty. which actually it wasn't. after that i mix a bit of the leftovers from petkit with the other brand and it seems working fine after that. despite the spray did come out , i am still skeptical about it so i decided to use the petkit brand instead. by comparison, i still can smell the odour a bit from the other brand one but can't smell anything from its own brand. i think you are right. it's only compatible with its own brand of deodorizer liquid. 👍😉

Good luck getting a refund if you ever need it. My unit broke in 5 days (two weeks ago) and they still will not send me the return label. They tell you that the unit can be returned within 30 days...mine still has all the stickers on it...we are actually hiring an attorney tomorrow to force them to do what they say. My advice it to find another product.

my 2c - works exactly as litter robot - same identical principle (including the rubber liner)
cost probably the same. Litter robot has been on the market for 20 yrs - plenty of spare parts always available.
why should you gamble for an un-known Chinese copy - that might disappear when you need service and/or spare parts?
I live in Malaysia and Litter robot is hard to get here, also the shipping from US is really expensive despite the weight, while shipping from china only cost a bit.
Btw PETKIT is actually a well known pet brand in China, prolly the largest and its parents company is by Xiaomi (if you don't know this brand, I have nothing to say) so yah, we totally trust it.
@@tofufamily5782 did not know that. But I keep seeing copycats (ahah) of little robots on kickstarter and I do not really see the reason why. As owner of LR I think it is close to perfection (apart from the design that could look less of a washingmachine!)

@@fabparks I really considered getting an LR but my cats like to climb on top of their litter boxes so I felt this was a safer option and I like the design of this a little better. LR has the customer service and reliability so I definitely agree this is a gamble but I'm psyched anyway
Be careful with Petkit, I have a Pura X, bought 15 months ago and it is broken, keeps on rotating. The customer service says since it is out of warranty (1 year) the entire Pura X has to be thrown away to rubbish and buy a new one, if it is in warranty a piece can be changed. So much respect the environment sustainability from this company? Because a broken piece eveyrthing has to be thrown away?
Absolute junk, I purchased it in October 29 2021, worked fine until Jan 7 2022, In just 3 months!!!! First problem was the machine wasn't leveling the litter evenly, I cleaned it, hit the reset button, nothing. Next problem it turned and turned and didn't stop until the litter emptied into the bin. I reset it, unplugged it, nothing it turned and turned and emptied litter again. This machine is very expensive, $600.00!!! I purchased it on Amazon, it went right back, never again
Dont buy this, I bought this item and it broke in 6 months!
