I've been a goalie all my life and have suffered in agony every game because no manufacturer ever made skates in my width...9 5E...I know I'm not the only one with this problem but why they never made them wider I'll never know....now I'm going to drop the cash for these

Not sure if I can get excited about having my feet scanned for: width, length (left&right not the same), heel width, heel depth, instep/arch height, volume (ankle&instep)....and then handed a pair off the wall. Is that really custom? I don't want to bore with detail but: hockey skate fit has been pretty well unattainable my entire life in hockey. My problem: flat feet, wide at the ball, narrow at the heel, extremely low instep, narrow ankles..just can't fill a skate, the result of which is having to tighten the skate to where the lateral lace length accross the tongue is short/narrow. The results in restricted forward ankle movement. The best I could ever do was to: buy D width and have my toes jammed into a narrow ball/toe area; bring my foot up off the bottom using foam insoles + the "surefoot arch support insole". I have even gone to the extreme of glueing an extra layer of felt on he inside of the sole. An ounce of physics knowledge will tell you that all these issues can't be rectified by "skate baking"; me and my wallet were sucked into that one. Lastly, I need a skate primarily with less sidewall or upper height. Narrown heel and wide ball would be nice as well. I would pay anything to get that. signed 1BOXTOM

you really would benefit from custom skates. look into how these skates really are made, there is a few videos showing the process and explaining it. for most people they could pick what ever skate they wanted in their lineup no matter the fit as it will always be nearly perfect. with CCMs custom skates, if your foot fits in the shell, they can get it to fit properly.

Have you tried baking your skate?

I have the exact same sizing issues. I went with a $$$ custom skate about ~1 size too large to accommodate the width, but it still didn't solve heel lock issues and toes that are not locked vertically down causing terrible shin splints as my feet have to work harder to attain forward-backward balance. I'm not sure the custom fitting and baking helped at all in that regard. So then I stuffed self-stick gel pads (the ones designed for arch support) inside everywhere its too big. I have three on the top-underside of the toe box to lock my toes down, 1 on the bottom of the arch area for the flat feet (in addition to the extra arch support that the skate came with) and 1/2 gel pad on the inside of the heel to lock the heel from side-to-side. It mostly works but of course the gel pads inevitably come loose after a while, and usually at the worst time. Gorilla double-stick tape helps keep them in place a little longer, but I really wish there was a better solution.

You should get true customs already if you haven’t. Retail skates are better but if you can’t fit into retail go true customs
