  • It’s official: Boom Supersonic’s first aircraft, the XB-1, had its first flight on March 22nd, 2024. The jet is a test vehicle for building Overture: the first supersonic commercial airliner since Concorde.

    Congratulations to Boom on the first flight of their test bed aircraft.
    Their emphasis on safety is commendable.

      It's hardly proven safety at all except maybe by flying so slow, that could also be because of poor design.
      They need to prove attention to safety, not just in press briefings. After all Boeing have said the same in the past while at the same time cutting quality control and safety checks to effectively zero.

    No need to re-invent the wheel again. Just bring the Concorde back, just add some updates here and there to airframe from composite materials.
