Scotland Day Walks | Hiking Ben A'an in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park

- In order to recover from a back injury, I decided to take on a smaller, but popular hill in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park - Ben A'an. With an early start I beat the crows and instead enjoyed stunning views over Loch Katrine and Loch Achray, two other popular destinations in the park itself.

Stay WILD!
Spectacular views. Kind of paradise
Great video Abbie and great to see you enjoying this trail....all the best to you. 👍👍🙏
Hey Abbie, I've just got back from my first visit to Ben Lomond/Rowardennan. After a particularly difficult Winter/Spring, Scotland put everything in perspective. I'll be visiting Ben A'an next time I'm up...thank you!
That pole is useless without you! Great walk Abbie, I really enjoyed Ben A'An, it's just a quick climb and you're there. I've camped at the top a couple of times.
Done it twice and it won't be the last. Love the views from up there.
Glad you are on the mend Abbie. Scotland is always here when you need her..
Thanks for sharing this trip. I will be going up to Loch Lomond in a few weeks' time and will definitely be checking this out.
What a beautiful place!
The early bird catches the worm 🐛.
Nice one Abbie haven't hiked Ben Aan in years glad you enjoyed
Beautiful place!
Size doesn't matter, when it comes to trails. Short can be great if it means being outside! If the weather is good, I even enjoy my own back porch, just watching the birds in the trees. I'm in awe of that trail with all the carefully placed rocks. The trail makers are amazing!
Good content Abbie, love this wee hill, camped there a few times.
Gratitude is followed by Joy. . Or an Endorphin rush.😀😀😀😀.lol, totally agree btw.
Interested in your back belt, we do alot of camping in the wild, and wud love to know.
Thanks for sharing.
Helen.
You know i’m just waiting for the day you turn around saying you’ve been given a new job as a tv presenter with your own show always so poetic with with your words
Honestly TV is dying. CZcams is a better place for finding things you want on demand. People put their heart and soul into making better personal productions like this.
Some people can also make it their job if they do it well and gain a following.
Either way the content available on CZcams is more personal and not determined by budget, time slots and TV restrictions or appeasing bosses and shareholders.
@ysonline calm down
Classic Abbie hike. So good to see you so ebullient and happy. Nothing better. "Find gratitude first, and joy always follows." So true and so profound.
Beautiful morning Beautiful place......
I say to myself on those days....
Glad to be alive 😊
Beautiful. Powerful. Joyful. You just keep getting better. Thankyou. Deep gratitude for all you do. 🥾❤️👍🚶♀️
Hey Abbie. First time I've seen your videos. Fabby.
Can’t really express how much I love your content. Your so real about what nature therapy really does for a person, and you are very honest with your trail challenges. It is so refreshing! Keep it coming and thank you!
You are my mental heath hero and my source of strength 💪 your videos make me get out there and enjoy things again 🤗
done it in january 2023 veiws were amazing in the winter clear day (path up can have ice )
Thanks Abbie I must take up walking I had heart attack 2 years ago double stents fitted have done some mountain biking since but need to get up those mountains walking ✌️❤️
So sorry to hear about your back, but on the plus side it enabled you to make one of your best videos. I was feeling the joy and exuberance with you when you finished your climb. Lovely x
...excellent...well done you👍
Friend and I love these kinds of walks and this is the perfect channel to stumble upon for some inspiration!
I’d hike with her in a heartbeat! Ya gotta love somebody who’s got a sense of humor, especially when she drops the “staff of power”!😜.Well narrated, beautiful videography. Will be very helpful when we visit Scotland in May! Kudos to Abbie for powering through what was undoubtedly was some serious pain. Her PMA (positive mental attitude) is inspiring.👍
Bridges are exciting!!
My favourite little mountain, climbed it many times. Great video as always. The path was improved about 3 years ago as the old path was very boggy in places. Glad you loved this walk ❤️
Staff of Pow...ups. So funny :D Take care of your back so that we can continue to see such beautiful videos from your hikes
Did one of my first wild camps at the top of ben a’an. Great views considering how easy the trek is. Lovely spot and not that far from where I live in South side of Glasgow.
Watching this now and knowing your biking Britain. You heal yourself well abbie!
yeah, I'm off work all this week so I might give this a go. 🙂
Have fun!
I love this little hill. Along Conic Hill at Loch Lomond, those two hills give you most bang for your buck in term of views. They are both great to introduce people to hill walking or in your case to enjoy when your body is not playing as you would like it to.
Man looks great! : )
A short but very satisfying video. Thank you. 🌞
One of the best views in the Trossachs or anywhere, not done this since Sam was about 10 years old🤣🤣👍👍🏴🏴
Great video Abbie and Ben A'an looks a lovely walk. After watching I'm keen to walk it myself in the next couple of weeks. Always enjoy watching your walks on CZcams, particularly the ones in Scotland.
You speak german very well! Incredible, Abbie. Again you show that it can be "mind over matter" sometimes. Well done! Your facial expression changed so much while getting higher. Thanks for sharing. Very good vibe!
Dayum, Abbie, you proved that you don't need the highest peaks for the best views, and you can take a bad back up with you.
Nice one, lovely hike, next time you're in the area another good hike is Ben Venue, straight across from Ben A'an. I just did that a few weeks ago and the views are spectacular too ;-)
wow, i have never seen somewhere so incredible! thank you for sharing and inspiring
Great to see you out and about Abbie. That's one of my favourite wild camp spots. Don't know how many overnights and videos I've made up there. The little hill with the BIG view, great to see someone enjoy it with fresh eyes. All the best. A
The atmosphere is so good! Enjoyed to walking around the area 🌿🍀🌿💚👍
I have covered many of you're amazing walks,. Unfortunately arthritis creeping up on both of my knees. Worrying and frustrating not able to complete walks
Thanks Abbie, wow, the views were amazing and absolutely breathtaking. I really felt I was there. x
Thank you Abbie (& Anna) for each and every video you make. My parents are just about to move to Scotland so it’s lovely to get some inspiration for one I go to stay. Don’t get me wrong, I’m spoilt for choice for walks here in South Somerset, especially along the River Parrett near my home in Langport. I can’t wait to explore Scotland, the walks, the Islands, the Caledonian Canal & the Cairngorms.
Thank you again, keep it real
Rest your back & we all look forward to the start of your upcoming epic bike/hike adventure.
Warm wishes
Earthlyone
Great views, beautiful nature. Just lovely ☺️
Nice hiking trail, beautiful nature, great video, thank you.😀
Yes, this was a managed forest area with fast growing pine trees. They were all chopped down about 6-7 years ago.
Amazing nature!
Great video. Enjoyed watching, taking me back to when I last walked there. If you are ever back or for anyone else, you can walk over and down the other side towards Loch Katrine. It's not so much of a proper path at first but it is an adventure and fairly easy and straight forward. You then walk along Loch Katrine past the visitor centre and through the Ben venue car park back to the Ben A'an car park where you first set off from.
You are one of mine greatest Inspirations😎👍👍👍👍
A very popular hill with a great view , climbed it on a New Year’s Day a few years ago . A few people on the hill then.
Blimey girl, there’s few better views than from the summit of Ben A’n. I climbed it after going up a rather larger Trossach hill or two and found the views far superior. Love your vlogs and aims. Inspirational
Glad to see you were thinking about the East Highland way, would be awesome to see you do that as well
Abbie, love your theme music.
My favourite hill. I've climbed it numerous times. Provides some great views at all times of the year. But... its very steep and the start catches many out. I put a report on WalkHighlands about it. As always, love your Vlogs.
Beautiful area, glad it did you so much good.Quite a few wood warblers singing, magic, they are getting pretty hard to hear and see around Cheshire.
Nice one Abbie. Currently hillwalking with the remains of my last sciatica attack, which leaves my right leg below my knee pretty numb especially my foot. But, like you, it's best to try and push it to the back of your mind and get on with it.
One wee thing. Ben A'an is definitely not a Corbett, just a prominence of Meall Gainmheich, itself a sub 2000, which is seldom visited as despite it greater height, doesn't have the views.
Magic 😁
To the left (South) is Ben Venue, not the Campsie Fells.
Hello that’s my shadow 😂😂
That made me laugh
My very first hill climbed many years ago, looks so different as it was mostly through those trees that are no longer there 😂. Must do it again soon
That was exactly my thoughts, I walked this summit in about 2014.
Woo hoo! First to see your new video! Sorry to hear about your back, Abbie. My wife and I have been loving all your videos from lockdown in Sydney, Australia! Keep them coming, my friend!
nice to see you again Abbie. hope your back gets better
how long did it take to get up and back down again?
A few hours maybe
👍👍👍
i heard midges in scotland summers are bad did you experience any?
Abbie please take it easy hopefully you'll be resting your back as your a hero to people like me who I look to fir inspiration
😁👍
Hi Abbie, sorry to hear about your back- like you I have a problem with my thoracic spine. I have osteoarthritis in my knees, hands, elbows, and neck.
Diet is surely the main cause.... Just eat beans and bacon bits for protein and you should just squeek it out with a decent amount of shine, but no more than 24 eggs a year.
Nessie spotting 🤔 All year round.
Thumbs up for the video, even bigger thumbs up for the views
:-)
Great video Abbie. You always catch the Scottish landscape in all its beauty. You and Anna should move up here.
Martin.
Do you have a favourite munro?
If you need it 👍 What 3 words emergency services app location finder.

Haggis hunting season 😝 November December January February march 👍
Such a great choice...it's a perfect wee walk with great views if the weather's clear! I really recommend Shi Heng Yi Online youtube channel. He's an amazing teacher. Try the six day morning practice. I sorted out a back and hip problem in 4 days. Acupuncture, osteopathy and physio didn't resolve it and now I feel totally confident I have the resources to sort it out myself. Sorted my stress as well! Hope you feel better soon.x
Why is stirling council always out of money and asking for more, but others like Angus can give you public toilets.
