Wasn't too familiar with Karl before watching this but man, he seems like the most positive, humble dude ever.
I hope you gave Karl that board. Its just a material thing for you. For him its a heartfelt memory that reminds him of his mother. I'm a collector myself. It is hard to get rid of stuff but when its gone to someone that truly deserves it, it feels good.
goddamn truth, and important to remember. this should be any collectors first rule. peace

i am from manila Philippines,karl is one of my inspiration along with the pier 7 crew and EMB since day one 1995sh their style and how they skate is the most influential for me...profile,chocolate,girl,FTC,...to end this i am listening to soul of mischief Step to My Girl thank SF crew. Right now i own a clothing brand inspired by this people.thank you skateboarding!.respect and peace out!..

Damn, that always bums me out when I hear Karl talk about how he felt about not being in Love Child. That's pretty wack they did him like that. Awesome interview, much respect to Karl for being such a positive influence in the skate scene.
Seriously. It makes zero sense that Rodney Mullen would do that. It’s not like Love Child was full of groundbreaking skating, save for maybe some of Jovontae’s and Jed Walter’s stuff, then Daewon’s part. I can’t see Daniel Castillo’s footage being better than Karl’s at that time. Crazy. From all the interview stories, it sounds like Rodney was pretty harsh and specific about footage of anyone who wasn’t Daewon or Gino.

Yoooo... I went to Roosevelt Middle School in San Francisco,Ca with Karl Watson and I'm Super Happy for Him and All of his Successes!!! Minus the Dreads he looks EXACTLY like he did from 6-8 Grade!!! Humble Still to this Day!!! He showed that thru Hard Work and Dedication You can do and be ANYTHING!!! #SALUTE KARL

FTC Finally. HELL YEAH! I still watch that shit regularly. Had the VHS since it came out and still do. Got the dvd version last year. So fresh that you brought that up. I think it's one of the best skate videos ever.
There’s a DVD version?? Damn. I gotta look for that. I loved that video back in 93/94 and used to watch my copy on the regular; my favorite Mike Carroll part by far. It also had that legendary line, “Fuckin’ A right... tits and clits!” from that homeless man chillin’ on the bump/curb cut. 😂

when madcircle was over in early 1999 i got it for £5 from skateshop.they had loads of unsold copies.i still have the cover with the shrink wrap around it. a dope video but i watched let the horns blow from 94 more times.

Think of it as a hybrid from freestyle decks and the double kick.

I get your point, it's moot. Rodney didn't come up with a popsicle shape, he evolved it. The double kick slimed down over time and evolution. The freestyle deck was popsicle shape with only a single kick.

Mike Vallely n Steve Rocco stole the double kick shape from Vision Skateboards. Vision invented the first double kick and the first ever slick decks
