    We were there literally 2 days after you posted this, for a week. We loved it. Other than that dinner buffet like you mentioned. Hurricane Grace hit during our stay, so we were forced to have dinner there the evening before. The only other thing was all the bars closed up at 11:00pm. We wished they would have been open later but we were okay with it.

    Your video gave a great overview of the Riviera . Going there in November and looking forward to it! My only suggestion is that your camera coverage could be a little slower as you pan through the resort . Thanks for the very informative video.

    Hi! Thanks for the video. Is there a snack bar at all for "throughout the day" munching? Or is it strictly breakfast, lunch, dinner?
    Also, I was reading many reviews that said that the buffet closes at 6pm but in your video, you mention that the buffet was open for dinner... just wondering if that's new?

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety +1

      You’re welcome! Although I can’t remember the exact hours of the Miramar buffet, I also don’t ever remember being hungry and NOT being able to get food. The buffet was definitely open for dinner when I was there in May 2021. The a la carte restaurants are reservation only and they can only accommodate so many. We actually ate dinner at the buffet our first night because we arrived to the resort late in the evening. Another thing to keep in mind, you have complete access to the other resorts (provided they are open during COVID), so you will always have lots of food options. Enjoy!

    may I please ask one more question! once I get to airport in Mexico, how do I catch a shuttle that's included with my delta package?
    I really appreciate your time and you should get paid for this advice you have given us, you are so kind!!

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety

      No worries! I had lots of questions too before I went, so I don’t mind helping others :o) When booking thru Delta Vacations (dot) com, most of the packages have roundtrip ground transportation already included. This means you will share a shuttle with several other travelers who also booked thru Delta Vacations and most will be staying at different resorts. The shuttle will already have everyone’s name, itinerary and resort location, so they may make several stops at different resorts to drop off other travelers on the way to your resort (I think we dropped off three travelers before we actually reached mine at Barcelo Maya Riviera). In total, it took about a 1-hour drive. When you arrive to the CUN airport, you will simply need to look for any representative wearing a Delta Vacations shirt and they should be able to point you to the right shuttle. Fair warning, it’ll be a little chaotic outside the airport and you’ll have lots of 3rd party taxi drivers & shuttles trying to haggle you to use their services… but ignore them and just look for a Delta Vacations rep. Again, this service is usually already included in the cost of your Delta Vacation package, so no additional payment or tipping is required. When your driver finally drops you off at your resort, just make sure to ask him what time they will be picking you up on the day of your return flight. The resort sometimes has a Delta rep on-site to also assist with this, but they tend to pick you up 5+ hours before your flight to ensure you don’t miss it. Make sure you get this information in advance and plan properly, so that you don’t miss your pickup (otherwise you’ll have to coordinate and pay for your own). Another thing I should mention is that if you do NOT want to take the complimentary shuttle, you also have the option of upgrading to a roundtrip private car for approx. $59 per person. You can add this as an “a la carte” option when booking your trip on the website. The private car will be for you and your travel party only, it will eliminate the extra stops and they take you right to your resort. Last thing, make sure you have documented COVID tests. You will need to get one 3 days before departing and take one 3 days before returning while in Mexico. I’m not sure where your home country is but the United States (and several other countries) require a negative COVID test to re-enter the country. The good news is most resorts in Cancun offer free on-site Covid tests, you just have to schedule them upon your arrival. However if by chance you forget or the resort you decide to stay it does not offer on site testing, they also have a Covid testing facility inside the Cancun (CUN) airport, for a fee. At least they did in May 2021. I hope this info has been helpful. Enjoy Mexico!!!

    While in the pool do you pay for your drinks at the bar or it’s all included with the stay ?

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety

      It’s an all-inclusive, which means all drinks are included with your stay. And yes, you have to order your own drinks at the pool bar - there is no drink or food service by the pool.

    Hi, I’m headed to this resort in October I was curious if barcelo offered a covid test and if so how much was it

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety

      Yes! At the time of my visit, they did offer Covid tests on-site and they were FREE. You’ll just need to schedule the appointment in advance with the concierge. They also have a place called LabCorp inside Cancun International airport that provide the rapid tests and I believe they are $35.

    did you say you didn’t like the buffet option for dinner?
    What were your favorite restaurant choices for dinner?

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. Miramar is the buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and also dinner meals. However dinner there is optional, unless you are unable to make a reservation at one of the other four on-site à la carte restaurants. Miramar’s breakfast and lunch buffet are fine, but I was not a fan of the dinner service. If possible, I would definitely recommend always having dinner reservations at one of the other on-site restaurants (make them EARLY). My personal favorite was “Sapporo” which was their hibachi style Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant. My least favorite was “La Comedie” which was the French restaurant. They also have “Dolce Vita” (Italian) and “Agave” (Mexican), both great! Keep in mind, there are are also other restaurants available to you on the other five Barcelo properties that make up the entire Barcelo Grand Resort, in case you want to dine off property. Hope this helps. Enjoy your vacation!

    What kind of activities do they have a this resort? I booked it for a solo trip in two weeks. I want to only stay on the resort.

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety +1

      Your solo trip will be amazing!!! The have the usual non-motorized water sports (paddle boarding, kayaking, etc.), but they have tons of other impressive activities everyday - yoga, lessons/classes, aerobics, volleyball, games, etc. And of course, the spa… which comes with an additional charge. The good thing about this resort tho is that you can take a free shuttle to the neighboring sister resorts for other activities - i.e. the bowling alley, shopping, sports bar, theater shows. Six all-in-one properties, lots to do and you don’t even have to leave the resort!

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety +1

      I never had any problems bringing food from the buffet to the pool area to snack on. I mean, it’s always nice to have food service by the pool, so if this resort had to have a flaw… that would be the only one. Still DEFINITELY worth the visit!!!

    • @aprilsreality
      @aprilsreality  Před 2 lety

      Yes, Barcelo Maya Riviera is about a 1-hour drive from Cancun airport. I recommend planning your ground transportation in advance, so you don’t have to haggle with taxis when you get there. Roundtrip shuttles are included with most Delta Vacations packages (which is the company I used to book), but you can also upgrade to a private car for only you and your party. Enjoy!

      You’re welcome! The weather in Mexico is usually nice year-round, hence it being an ideal holiday destination for most people. As of the date of my trip, you did not need a Covid test to visit Mexico. However the United States did/does require a negative test to re-enter the country. Not sure about Canada, but just make sure to check your country’s requirements before you leave. This particular resort (like most in Mexico now) provides complimentary Covid tests onsite and I did not have any issues whatsoever when getting my test. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!
