    Good, repeal the entire act. Like you stated, it was an unjust, undebated, unsupported bill run through at midnight and shoved on the people of NY as a showboat piece for Andrew Coumo. It was wrong then and it's wrong now. Get rid of it and then, if needed, bring it up though the regular channels and see if it passes.

    Born and raised in WNY. Love the people, great hunting and fishing, best food in the country! Taxes are insane!! Pistol Permit system is unconstitutional and should be repealed. You shouldn't have to apply for a permit and wait sometimes almost 2 years to be approved to excersize a constitutional right. But, I tolerated all of that because it was home. In Jan. of 2013 the NY Safe Act was passed and forced upon us literally overnight! This I could not abide. I voted, I demonstrated, I had my state reps on speed dial and called constantly, I attended rallies, I joined S.C.O.P.E., ALL TO NO AVAIL. Finally in Dec. 2016 I relocated my family and my small business to a state that follows the Bill of Rights. Yes, the breaking point, the straw that broke the camels back, was the NY Safe Act. Good luck NYers. No permit required to own a hand held firearm in this state. Walk in, pay the man, pass the NICS check, and walk out with your rifle, shotgun, or pistol and go shooting! I hope it works out for you guys. I am saving $6k a year on property taxes now. Using it to buy tons of ammo and doing a whole lotta shooting!!!!

    Compliance with such a law requires a person to ignore the meaning of the word infringe (to act so as to limit or undermine) thus the person would be ignoring what the Constitution clearly says. You can't change the meaning of the word and so therefore when analyzing our founding documents we can clearly see that our founders as per the Declaration of Independence intended for a person to be governed under their own morality coming to the conclusion they felt people were competent enough to exercise good and limit themselves from doing evil as every human who is not insane possesses. So then they wrote the Bill of Rights within the Constitution the Bill of Rights is a list of natural laws untouchable by man made laws as no man possesses any more power over another. To believe they do is the exact definition of slavery.
    They designed the Constitution and especially the 2nd Amendment in a way that it would be very obvious if someone tried to act as God and get rid of their natural rights through force. The idea was since all of the Bill of Rights were believed to be granted by God no human being possessed any celestial power to remove or edit those rights and any attempt made to do so was and still is an act of treason. No one can force you to do anything against your will when it pertains to a right.
    Natural law has and always was considered the supreme law of the land. Not federal or state law. People believe they have to obey an unjust laws without once ever reading the first portion of the Declaration of Independence which served as a shinning example that a person is only governed to the extent they consent to be governed , however in our country it is acceptable to withdraw that consent and simply not obey a law if it abridges any rights regardless if everyone likes the idea or not. It is simply a structure built that allows Americans to retain freedom under the idea that when it comes to the Bill of Rights a person is morally and ethically in the right disobeying any law that edits, limits, undermines or removes the right in question.
    Here is the just of the whole situation. For some people this act violates 2 amendments to the constitution and depending on religious belief it can violate 3 rights. Here is how. Considering politicians are simply human beings the have no authority any higher than who a person or what a person believes created them. The idea is just that no government breathed life into man. We are free to practice our religion openly without persecution or prosecution as per the first amendment. So if a person believes God created them then by obeying a law that removes a right granted by God (a higher power) you are ignoring God's declaration as the highest authority over mankind thus forcing a person to acknowledge that a mortal man possesses power over them much like a God to edit or remove natural rights. Thats not being free to acknowledge your God as the highest power but instead by complying you are acknowledging gov Cuomo as your God. This is true for everyone even atheist because it removes the freedom to not acknowledge that God does not exist and forcing them to declare a God (in this case Governor Cuomo). Then it violates the 2nd just by sheer meaning of the word infringe. Period there should be no further argument as the statement "shall not be infringed" is clear and concise enough to convey exactly what was intended and that is no law can touch it if the law was thought up by a human being. Since all gun laws are and most certainly "limits or undermines" a persons right to own certain firearms based on looks or certain features of certain firearms then it is completely against the Constitution and is illegal by the laws of our land (this is why people in the UK can have their opinion of guns are bad all they want but because you want every American in the UK visiting to observe and obey the laws of your country then you must obey and observe the laws of our country period and your opinion bears no weight). Finally since it forces people to obey a human and limit their own rights by default it violates the 13th amendment that abolished slavery. You cannot edit or undermine a person's rights in this country and believe that person is free it is the illusion of freedom nothing more.
    Finally Chaos theory is the scientific explanation of why society a complex system is impossible to control. Read it if your a liberal and try to argue with science that tells you that you are wrong. Even our founders believed that the system setup by them would eventually fall to people intent on doing harm to others through legislation or laws and is why people like Thomas Jefferson believed the country would need to fight future wars to continue to retain their freedom and he was speaking in terms of evil people who try to seize power through government and was believed that the people who threatened liberty the most were the people in government that would come to power in the U.S. not foreign invaders.
    According to the Constitution obeying even 1 gun law would violate the Constitution. There is a legal term I am unsure of the name of it but it is a specific law that literally says a person is not obligated to obey a law if the law requires the person to commit another crime just to obey it. Considering the glaring fact that all gun laws violate the Constitution then a person cannot commit the crime of treason to obey the law and obedience to any law that falls out of harmony with the Constitution is most certainly a serious crime against humanity.

    I used to live upstate NY (German Town), and then moved to Brooklyn, biggest mistake I ever made. Currently I am consulting out in Lansing Michigan, and just love the guns laws out there. Lansing has open carry, and CPL, I have joined a few ranges out there we you can rent the firearm with no problem. No ban on AR 15 etc'. I do realize MI is a large hunting state, I am thinking of just moving out there, I am an ex-7th Special Forces combat veteran, and love going to the range. But when I come home every few weeks, I get so disappointed on our gun laws compared to MI.

    Utica New York has had more shootings in the past 2 months then can be counted. The Safe Act is an unsafe Act. This has made things in New York state much worse when it comes to gun crying. The Safe Act does not affect criminals because they do what they want when they want. And the criminals also know the Safe Act makes it safer for them because it makes all the good law-abiding citizens into felons. Repeal the Safe Act. Maybe Utica. Rochester. Syracuse. All the major cities in New York would be a lot safer if more civilians were able to help the police by being armed and saving a life for two. Common sense. And here's another question because they say the Safe Act protects us from terrorists. How many guns were used in 911? How many guns were used every time somebody got ran over in New York City? How many guns were used in Oklahoma City? How many guns were used in the Boston Marathon? The answer is none. So the question now is does the Safe Act protect us from terrorists? People need to wake up and repeal the Safe Act

    As an Upstate NYer who just started paying attention to 2A issues as of late, what is the status of this semi-repeal in 2018? I'm guessing it got shot down since I have to abide by SAFE Act laws here in Upstate. Repeal the Second Amendment and Firearm Eliminations Act! Love the shout-out to Schoharie County in the 8th minute.

  • @rfailing1
    @rfailing1 Před 7 lety +2

    Greg Ball said it the best. Politics in NY is dirty business. Why should the governor's ego be massaged by keeping "part of the bill". If you want part of it, create a bill with those parts and get rid of the unconstitutional parts including registration of semi auto rifles (which basically didn't happen anyway - it's called civil disobedience) and get rid of the 5 year "pistol permit recert" which also saddles constitutional abiding Americans with un-deserved burden. In fact while you are at it repeal the entire program of pistol permits. Period. Criminals don't register their hand guns. They still have them. It's about time all of you smart people got some common sense going and uphold your oath of office. It's about the Constitution and in fact get back to the Declaration of Independence.....that's what applies here. Get off our backs and leave us alone.

Why are, We The People allowing this to happen? I propose, every group, the NRA, GOAL and all the others get a bunch of lawyers and get before the Supreme Court to bring charges against the states for violating LAW!!!!!!!!
