Caaaaw! I have always been curious about Brownstones so I watched your segment. I HAD NO IDEA they were so magnificent inside! OMG So very interesting!
Who wouldn’t want the servants quarters to stay the same!? I would keep the servants quarters and exact layout but updated it with modern kitchen appliances. The dumb waiter is a plus! Keep it and put it to use. Why would anyone want to change the original floor plan. I hope someone bought it and kept it to its original with a touch of updates. I want to see more of this beautiful gem. Thank you for sharing.
This is BEAUTIFULLY done ! I LOVE that they didnt paint over the wood. Someone really did a wonderful job restoring it!
Aww this was great. You don't often see that original woodwork in the brownstones shown on real estate channels. Nor those unique features like the little food elevator.That was great!

The Brownstown I was raised in from 1959 to 1965 had been subdivided into multiple apartments, as had many others on the 89th Street block and in the adjacent neighborhoods between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
After my family moved into the newly constructed Wise Towers, from 1965 to 1972 I watched from my 18th floor bedroom window as many of the area's Brownstones succumbed to the Demolition crews, making room for high rise apartments or a row of new single-family town houses.

Idk why, but that original wood and fireplace in the parlor reminds of sitting on the couch with cup of cocoa during a cold December night, probably watching a Christmas movie

Would have loved to see bedrooms but this is really good. I’ve worked and one brown stone that was converted into a home facility. They had an elevator.

I have seen many of these channels with tours of houses for rent or sale and have never had anyone explain the history of WHY or HOW they were built. I am super impressed. You did such a beautiful job! I will never live in NY, but it is such a treat to get to see these places. So thank you ! I would have really loved to see the whole place

I think we need a come back of the brownstone like architecture. I've been to many cities in the west coast of America and many would benefit from the architecture and atmosphere. This is a wonderful video. Thank you for posting.

@@andrewchapman2024 nice im also studying architecture but most are learning to design modern architecture in my class, which sucks becuase you have to design that way to pass the class, but i'm optimistic that i will design architecture like the brownstones one day, especially in my city where there are many of them.

Why didn't you do a longer video of the whole house before a designer ripped the heart out of it. I don't mind remodeled, some are gorgeous, but once In a while I would like to see a traditional interior. I will admit to having new plumbing, electrics and up to date kitchen appliances but have discreetly hidden. Love old movies and tv series that feature them, my favourite being The Nero Wolfe Mysteries starring Timothy Hutton and Maury Chayfin, the house is my dream house.
We only had access to the house one it was in that transitional state. We would love to have a time machine and show what it once looked like. We can only ask the viewer to use their imagination. Thank you so much for watching!

New York City is the blueprint for every city that sprang up after. It is also the blueprint of all of our financial institutions, museums, our parks. New York holds the title of many "firsts" of everything! Even though I wasn't born in New York, I still say "I love New York"! Especially the Brownstones! I love seeing inside one that hasn't been changed too much. I'm all for preserving the original! Why do people want to completely erase the original interior of a Brownstone, I will never understand? People, it's called preservation!
i would try to keep as close to original as possible i love wood work and the look of past generations, so many have been gutted to be more modern which i thinks looses it's character
I always thought brownstones had several steps up, not because of filth in the street, but because no one wants pedestrians to be able to look directly into your residence. Maybe both reasons?
I watched the entire video. I only saw a small portion it didnt go from room to room. Maybe I dudnt see the right video. It showed part of a staircase rail and a corner of a wall. And 2 or 3 small items.

Geez...I now know what you mean. Didn't start showing interior until 5:15! Less than a minute showing the inside which was pretty impressive from the little I saw. If i didn't love brownstones so much, I'd have probably signed off too
