That loan deal was crazy out of nowhere, gave United some much needed kick during that period, what a legend

his contribution is more than just on the field, when he was in the club, he inspired Rooney and CR7 to step up their level when he was there, I hope Cavani will be able to do that to Rashford and Greenwood.

He should have been a united player earlier in his career, he would have done so well. Fantastic player that always scored goals.

I have to say I enjoyed Larssons stay at the club more than his fellow countryman Zlatan a decade later. I was actually present when he made his debut goal.

Henrik larsson was a true legend. I'm a Celtic supporter and had many years of watching Henrick play. I was so happy he went on loan to Man Utd as I like man utd also. But what a lot of people forget is that Arsenal would probably have won a Champions league Trophy as Arsenal was winning 1-0 until Henrik came of the bench and set 2 goals up. Larsson deserved that Champions league medal. Not many players leave Celtic and sign for Barcelona. Then go into semi retirement and then go out on loan at 35 yrs old to Man Utd.
Sir Alex tried to sign him when he was at Celtic.
      A joy to watch

It annoys me that it says he played in 13 games with ManUtd with 10 appearences more than goals he scored (3) when he had a goal wrongly disallowed in the FAcup vs Portsmouth (so did Vidic in the same game) and the goals he did get credited for were all valid so he scored 4 in 13 as a 35year old loaned in player who didn't take any freekicks or pens, had next to no service from Cristiano who just tried to pass to himself unless there was simply no other option and Larsson contributed in other ways he had good performances that's why ManUtd nearly won every game he played for the club.

I always said sir Alex should have poached Larsson from Feyenoord before Celtic got him.

Weird because larssons career was a bit stop start at the time. He wasn't playing much at feyenoord and he really only came to celtic because our manager was wim jansen.
Larsson himself credits his Time at celtic for making him into a work class player (bare in mind we had a really good team and could somewhat complete with the bigger English clubs with wages as it was mental money wise yet 1998).
So if United did sign him from Holland you might not have got the same larsson but United did try to sign him in 99/00, the year he scored over 50 goals for celtic. He surprisingly (even at the time) said no. Like celtic is a massive club big United is United, just the same as Liverpool is Liverpool, simply doesn't get any bigger or better than United under Alex Ferguson. As a Celtic fan I'm glad he said no and gave us another 4 years before leaving for Barca but would have been really interesting seeing prime larsson in that United team. The year after they won the champions league. Scary thought tbh.

The man was 35 at the time and he got a standing ovation by the whole United dressing room when he left and have you seen thiery Henry's interview of larsson after the 2006 champions league final? Which larsson turned around by providing 2 assists tp win the game 2-1. Talking out your ars.
