Just wanted to let you know how special this channel is to me. A genuine discussion channel that doesn’t target the negativity in the fandom, while also adding fruitful insight to what could have been. I hope the right people are listening to you, skywalker.
Couldn’t have put it better
this is the way.
Definitely. Good work Thor. More channels should be as yours.
"Fruitful" indeed ;)
I personally felt that even the costume design in this series was off. The Inquisitors looked like people in cosplay and everything just looked frumpy.
i also thought obi looked too young. he has more greys in rots.
@@teleskopossomnium I thought this too; would it have killed them to give him shorter hair, and dye it so that it looked more greying?
So did book of Boba Fett
Frumpy is a good word for it. Exactly! I thought okay he aged about 3 years in a10 year span then he'll have to suddenly age 20 years over the next 10 years. They needed to do a better job of making Ewan McGregor look more like Alec Guinness
Why do inquisitor costumes have lights? It is so stupid. I know they were trying to mimic elements from Vader’s suit, but it was stupid looking.
I say this not because I'm a fan of this channel, but I thoroughly enjoyed this and was more invested in this this story than the Disney series. Great friggen job man.
Same!
Incredible start. The worst thing about your stories is the wait between chapters. Don't rush it though. They are always worth the wait. Thank you Thor.
Yep Quality over quantity.
This is really intriguing so far. Just adding Quinlan and Satine makes things so much more unique and interesting.
This will be better than the other fan fiction we got from Disney
Kenobi wasn’t fanfiction.
@@achaudhari101 it was everything star wars after 2012 is fanfiction
@@Supreme_Jones Except it's not made by the fans, so it's just a fiction...
@@ondrejmaceska6196 Now JJ was a self proclaimed super Fan of the movies when he made TFA and everyone believed it. TFA was the biggest budget a Fan Film ever had. TLJ was not made by a Fan. TRaSH was just bad.
This is the stuff of how we create myths. Oral storytelling, passed down to the next generations; added to to enrich but not overtake the original lore. This is the essence of building a great mythology, not pomp and circumstance with lights. Great job, I'm excited for the next!
We were robbed of a Obi-Wan movie because of TLJ. That film was so divisive that it affected Solo's box office (was a flop) which ultimately changed Kennedy's plans for SW movies going forward. Will always wonder what that Obi Wan film would've been like.
Have you seen the Kai Patterson Kenobi film yet?
You don’t need to wonder. The writer already told his plans and would be pretty much just like the series, but without Reva
That's provided Kennedy even had a plan to begin with. What a mess! What happened to Lucas Film
Reva still would be in it though she would die at the end.
@The Rotten💯 yeah but in the series he had writing credit so the series and his movie were so similar they had to give him credit so it still would have sucked but it would be a bit better like upgrading from a dumpster fire to a Trash bin
Only ten minutes in and the pictures you paint feel so much more authentic already than ANYTHING Disney has given us.
This feels like the Obi-Wan I'd expect to find in this time period.
Fantastic, mate.
Looking forward to the story unfolding.
"A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
My aunt took me to Barnes and Noble and she bought me a really cool box set of novels called Star Wars Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn ( Legends ) which I've heard about, but I've actually never had the chance to read them. so this well be my very first time reading them. In the meantime, I'm still focusing on The Lord Of The Ring's novels by J.R.R Tolkien and I finished reading The Fellowship Of The Ring and The Two Towers, now I'm on the last book The Return Of The King.
She bought you a cool box set and you never read it but then brag about reading LotR novels. Have you seen Clerks 2?
@@joekerr6035 I really wasn't bragging, I was merely expressing myself.

You have a goated bookshelf
You are about to have a memorable summer. :)
I liked it a lot, and definitely want to see this continue. Satine is such a beloved and dearly-missed character for me, I'm really excited to see her again in the Kenobi series we could (and should) have gotten - one created by a true and talented fan.
Im only 13 minutes in and im already more invested in this than I was at any part during the first episode of the actual kenobi show. The writing talent is crazy
This was amazing, as usual. Maintaining the strength that embodies Oni-wan, while making him vulnerable was a balance Disney failed to capture. Can’t wait to see how Obi-wan gets his sabers back and how that ties back to connecting with Quinlan.
Help me Oni-wan! あなたは私のただ一つの希望だ
We all crave this. We are ALL such fans of the lore, everyone who listens to your stories fantasizes about a Lucasfilm that doesn’t dishonor our memories. Thank you Thor. Thank you for giving us back, story by story, what has been taken away these last few years.
Great job man. I was more captivated by this than anything Disney has put out, seriously. I'd love more. It's already far more interesting than Kenobi. Thus far you've managed a great balance between it being character driven as well as large and small scale. It moves around enough and has enough going on to keep the listener engaged while still focusing on Ol' Ben.
Please continue this! I was so taken in by your story that I didn't even notice it was going on for 40 minutes. I throughly enjoyed this and this is something which I couldn't say for any Star Wars media since the prequels. Hats off to you for actually making a Star Wars story with love for the franchise which we can't say about Disney.
And by the way if this gets popular enough you could consider crowdfunding some money to hire actors and animators and making this into an actual thing. (Though I don't know much about the legal implications of this, but I'd guess if you don't monetise it, it should be ok)
The fruit lady trying to figure why Obi Wan is on Tattoine is such a good interaction. I hate being to cynical, but DISNEY TAKE NOTES
I was impressed with this. Seeing Obi-Wan still as the kind man we saw in the films was a nice change of pace.
I absolutely adore how this caters to hard-core fans more than the casual fans. Loved every bit of this first part! Please keep going!! ❤️ (beautiful writing on why jedi deny themselves so much!!!)
It should've been about Anakin and Obi Wan. It should have gone into their past to show what made them brothers and then shown how tragic it was when Obi Wan leaves Anakin in the finale. It shouldve been the ultimate culmination of the Prequels but it failed.
Yeah I agree. It should have been flashback heavy. There is still a lot of their training/relationship we never saw, particularly before AOTC. Hell I would have preferred they never met again before ANH as the new duel was weak. It also made Obi Wan look like a complete arsehole.
@James C So Obi Wan being miserable, despite it making sense, makes him an asshole in a bad way? He wasn’t supposed to be a goofy clown. New duel was good for what it was.
@@achaudhari101 Bad Bunny and MCU has lowered your standards beyond salvation. Order 66 for you, any day.
@@rochristy1401 dont say someones standards have been "lowered" because they enjoy something you dont when you haven't given them a chance to explain what they enjoyed about it.
@@jamesc8968 I honestly wasnt a fan of the fight choreography of the duel Vader and Kenobi had in the finale. The fight should've been much more epic and possibly uninterrupted
My confidence that the next Disney show will be well-written: 0
My confidence that the next Thor Skywalker series will be well written: 10
That pissy?
@@achaudhari101 Pissy? Are you gonna pretend the Disney Star Wars shows have all been well-written? Because it's hit or miss at best, which is why I have no confidence the next one will be good. It could be good, I just have no reasonable expectation that it will be good, let alone that it's likely to be good.
At this point I don’t even bother to look at what Lucasfilm nowadays does with SW. If I had known that the majority of my time in Star Wars would be spent reading Legends and non-official fan stories, I would never have believed it 9 years ago.
@@jakobrenner2230 That's dumb.
Oh no, you're going to make a lot of enemies with this one. Not me, of course. Kenobi sucked. Honestly, it's Star Wars what ifs that's keeping me a fan at this point.
I’ve listened to the Darth Bane trilogy of audiobooks several times and that’s kept my fandom pretty strong.
Wasn't great but not bad either. Like the mandalorian
Preach dude, no clue how these bums can even remotely enjoy this show
Kenobi objectively doesn’t suck except Episode 4.
@@achaudhari101 objectively doesnt suck?? Yet for something to suck or not for someone is purely subjective. Dont get me wrong, it had some fine, even great, moments, but was overall flawed(i think ep 4 was completly unnecessary and a waste of time). You can like something that sucked though thats fine, but dont go around saying your opinion is objective truth lol
Thor's southern accent for the Tatooine woman was awesome and hilarious. Great video series so far.
Good job Thor! 😊
OMG! I love it! At first I was taken that this might be another way of making a series full of action but no. It’s seems that you are really focusing on the character developments, on their past and current struggles and also re-experiencing the same emotions they had long ago. Very nice, NICE storyline! Do please continue and don’t rush! I think you are really transforming one of the beloved characters Star Wars have had in many years into something GREAT!
I’m interested with how much Satine content you’ve put into this first “episode”. I am interested from the start on alternate stories, so I’m down to continue this journey with you
“I’ve been looking forward to this.”-Count Dooku
Same
"My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count."
Don’t worry Thor Skywalker, in that “alternate reality” of which you speak, where I also happen to run Lucasfilm, I definitely hired you (along with many, many other people and nearly endless changes to how it’s been ran so far). And I would have approved you to write and publish this (and many other stories of yours) to the desks of competent directors (who are genuine fans) to bring to the big screen.
This is so beautiful, thanks for writing this, the characters are perfectly in character, so everything with Satine and Qui-Gonn feels like Canon to me.
I've recently seen a TV-production up close and now I think why something like this would never be made. You started with the story based on what we know in the timeline and how the characters would behave. But production companies are based on getting a budget green-lit based on a concept and then patches up the story as they go. So the first thing for them is, who will be in the cast and what will they cost? What sets do we need? What special effects team do we need? and so on. Then they feel, "Oh I think we need a second smaller antagonist that is not Vader", they invent the third sister, casts the role, makes a budget, and then the final screenplay gets made. In edits they decide to change something more, ads or removes something to make the story work, and then they feel the story is ready to be broadcasted. It's a sad methodology for the story, but it is probably like that - the best for the story would be if the story came out in book form, kind of like your reading, and was then filmed. Then we could have beautiful Star Wars-stories in Live Action with events based on story, not on practicalities.
Really? And I thought 🤔 I was the only one to work on establishing a new set of stories in book form before branching out in film and/or television for a start. That way, I'd have a proper story established and ready to pitch to a studio like Universal hopefully since they're in the theme park business.
These stories are my favorite videos! I still go back and listen to the Finn and Ahsoka series all the time!
The Force and lore conversation with Satine is exactly what Star Wars needs, spot on
Currently I'm very, and I mean very, stressed out due to my medicine studies and exams. You know, I've grown to love this channel with you, Thor, as a transparent, intelligent, multidimesional, honest, caring, empathic, eloquent, creative, talented human being and moderator. The force truly is strong with you, my fellow companion.
To make the circle now complete, I just want so highly emphasize that I genuinely enjoy your stories very much. I see a man who deeply shares my love for star wars (or good writing in general respectively) and I just love it. Especially when u take a look at the sandy, desolate dessert of joy Disney can provide.
Writing a book myself, I know how time consuming a well crafted story can be. I simply want to say specifically in these very stressful times I find myself in your input truly gives me some cheerful relief. Like a Jedi who helps others if you will. Who takes sacrifices but at the end of the day generates joy out of the things he did. So yeah, please continue, Master Jedi.
I’m hype for this! I can’t wait. I love you’re stories. Just yesterday I went back to your older stories. I love em
Your intro with Vader breathing switching to Obi-Wan breathing is masterful! Very powerful. I am loving this story and cannot wait for more.
Darth Krayt duel on Tattooine
I literally had no motivation to see the series. But THIS, now this a good story.
Well that’s unfortunate and weird.
40:00 😆😆😆The reference to Qui Gon's girlfriend was exciting. Very heartwarming moment between master and apprentice.❤️❤️
I enjoyed this version of Kenobi much better. Thank you.
I don't care how you do it or how much it costs. But make this an actual episode/series. Fantastic story telling. Made me forget all about my disappointment about the Disney show. Great work!
I like that so far Obi-Wan hasn’t like given up per se. I feel like most stories that try to show someone that’s lost faith or struggling with their religion or way of life give up on it almost, but to me it feels more realistic that it’s more like going through the motions feeling nothing. Like still practicing with his lightsaber, but just that. It’s no more than something to keep his strength, or do it to say he’s doing it.
Truly awesome story so far. This is more what I wanted of the Obi Wan show. Him being conflicted on love and more flashbacks to his pasta on his regrets
This already better than the actual show. Much more intrigue in the slower paced start.
The pacing is amazing. I'm getting grabbed by your storytelling and the more I know the more powerful it gets. I just want to know more.
Thank you
Hope you'll get to do the whole arc.
I love how Obi-Wan is far more reflective here than in the show. The flashbacks add subtext to the current timeline and give the audience an insight to Ben's regrets as a Master and his faith in the force and the Jedi way. The premise of Kenobi trying to regain his confidence and faith in the force through his communication with Qui-Gon, by spiritually speaking to him through the force and physically speaking to him in his memories is a fantastic way to show Kenobi's arc in this story. This would show us how Obi-Wan must reconnect with his past so that he can have hope for the future. He doubts if he and Yoda made the right decision to separate the twins and to not train them yet. I don't think the show really hammered home WHY Luke just needs to be a boy. Kenobi just kind of says it at the end. I love the way you wrote Qui-Gon's line explaining why a Jedi must let go of attachment. "There are those in this galaxy who refuse to give up anything, and because of them. there are those who must give up everything." With great power comes great responsibility. in the Dark Times Kenobi's responsibility is being tested like never before.
I'm really enjoying the story so far! Just like the show, it has a Tatooine-centric start, but I assume it will ramp up more over time. I'm also shipping Obi-Wan with the shop woman now, even though it's not meant to be. Oops, I guess
Very entertaining, loved the part of the Empire working with Jabba only for Bit Fortuna to hold his own in negotiations and not be intimidated by the Empire. You solidify how feared and respected the Hutts were in Tatoiine. Also the early shades of Vader taking down Jedi. Look forward to the next chapter.
I think this was fantastic. Your adoration for the lore shines brightly throughout your narrative. As I listened, I could easily visualize each scene in my mind's eye. Thank you for the effort you put into crafting one of best stories I have heard in a long while.
Continue this please. You get Star Wars like very few people do.
I have really been loving the "gloves off" feeling your channel has given lately
Well I hope it doesn’t become the theme of the channel going forward as I want Thor to still be the more reasonable and wise person who does get excited for a SW anything.
@@achaudhari101 by all means I agree. There is a time to be critical and sometimes it can go too far
@@achaudhari101 no this show was bad he was pretty critical of it i was too
I kept having to go back to certain parts, your explanations on what it means to be a Jedi were just 💚🥹
Beautiful writing and captivating storytelling. Thank you! Looking forward to the continuation.
This seems to have been influenced heavily by the Kenobi book from a few years back, not that THAT is a bad thing, I loved that book. Thank you Thor.
I really hope all the comments and love we will send your way make you continue down this beautiful path. Keep on writing, Thor! It's great!
It's understandable that it can be hard to keep track of everything that happens in Star Wars from the movies, shows, games, and books but I think what most fans would appreciate is just some level of reverence for what came before. Yet over and over again new Star Wars media come out and things seem disjointed and at times don't make sense. What Thor has done here with this video adds a structure to the story that knows and uses what came before but still does its own thing.
Please, Moore! This is light years better than the dumpster fire Disney gave us. Nice job, and thank you. May the force be with you.
One of the arguments that drives me CRAZY with defenders of Sequel Trilogy is the notion that “well, the story just wasn’t the way you expected it to be”.
I really had no idea where this video was going to go but I was-am very invested in the story. There weren’t any huge flashy fights just the seeming desire to tell a great story and treat the characters with true introspection.
Well done. Please keep it going.
Man this felt like OG star wars all over. You still got it thor. I watched Kenobi and liked... a few things about it but it's more clear than a Kyber crystal that the show was about Leia and Reva. Can't wait for part two of this.
Please finish this series through Thor.
Star Wars has been missing thoughtful writers that understand and care for the characters. You’re one of the few writers I have found that not only understands Star Wars and it’s characters, but knows how to write a compelling narrative that satisfies from episode to episode.
Please, see this series through to the end. :)
Really liked the way you had Qui-gon Jinn brake down why there must be Jedi. It makes sense and seems to fit very well.
This is good. I can tell you know the characters well and have read and written alot.
Awesome! Very interesting beginning of the story. I love all of it! And you are telling it in a great easy to follow way. Hearing the story and hearing it from you, is very enjoyable.
I think you are great story writer and story teller. I wish this was the story of first episode of the Kenobi series from disney.
Definitelly keep on writing the story and telling it to us in this format. I want to hear much much more from you!
And if possible, keep this long length of the episodes. It's very immersive when the parts are long like this, it gives it a feeling of watching episode of an TV show.
Keep up the great work! And thank you, thank you so much, on this and all other formats of entertainment!
11 minutes in and it shows you understand the character better than anybody involved in the show
Simply amazing and riveting stuff!! This is the type of tale we all missed out on and am very thankful to you for sharing this and that there are so many of us that still treasure this type of lore and continuity attention to detail - you must continue this fantastic story set up!

12 minutes in, and I get an Expedia ad, voiced by Ewan.
Thought that was a nice little “blessing” of the work.
Thank you! This is wonderful! It’s so gratifying to hear well thought out stories told by someone who’s passionate about Star Wars, and who honors the established lore and characters. I’m really looking forward to the next installment. Maybe you can come out with a “movie” version too, that’ll be awesome!!
OMG!!! The fruit flash back!.. Thor made sense of the Disney+ 'ObiWan Playlist' being 2/3 Satine
I'm loving this version. I really like the opening "nightmare" and how we immediately dive into Obi-Wan's personal life of what could've been or might be.
Great stuff Thor! 🙏
this is amazing! you’ve gotten me more invested in this after one part than everything from the disney era combined. you really have a talent for writing/storytelling, please keep going!
Love this! Great start, I really like how well you weave the old and new together
This is a very good story and more dramatic than the actual Disney sht we got
Well aren’t you a black hole.
As a massive fan of the Kenobi novel, I love how much of a continuation this seems to be. I knew as soon as I heard you call Rue by her name that you were onto something, and you did not disappoint.
I’m genuinely excited to hear what happens next, more so than I ever was with the show, which is unfortunate m, but at the same time good for the video I guess lol. I cannot wait to see more Thor, and I mean it when I say you bring the most meaningful discussions to Star Wars on CZcams, and thank you for that.
SATINEEE!!! thank you this was amazing. there are so many times where i audibly gasped and got excited. cant wait to listen to part 2
That was awesome! Write it down, sell it as an ebook or get it published! It was... Beautiful
Wow... I'm simply amazed! You certainly got my attentioon with this breathtaking story! And it was not necessary to appologize in the beginning for taking things slowly, that was the right pacing. Btw, I've been watching numerous channels on Star Wars, however, I like yours best for the simple reason that you remain balanced in your critique and praise. Pls continue doing so, I really enjoy your content!!!
The piece of fruit in your story has more character than Disney's Kenobi Series. Good Job. Keep up the good work.
This is great! Similar to what Preston is doing by just writing Winds of Winter with the fans based on insider knowledge. We need people like you helping guide the story.
This is an awesome start, thank the Force I'm listening to the Kenobi story we all should've gotten
The story is Amazing!!!
Exceptional at every level!!!
Thank You for keeping Star Wars Alive!!!
Definitely looking forward to hearing the rest of this story! I appreciated that Obi-wan is still a Jedi, still keeping his chops up through training, and is still trying to maintain the monk lifestyle of a Jedi while struggling with doubt as to whether it is worth it. Loved the flashbacks too. Keep it coming please!
Wow! This is the authentic story of the characters we love and universe we miss. A very enjoyable Part One. I hope to hear more. Thank you for creating and sharing this story.
It is not the first story of you i enjoyed. And i have to say it is one of the rare occasions i still enjoy star wars. Thank you.
WOW!! this was AWESOME!! As someone who was originally disappointed by Kenobi, I really think this is SO MUCH BETTER!!! I found myself genuinely interested in this "fake" story, when I had failed to be interested in the ACTUAL show. I love this SO much, and am sitting on pins and needles for the next episode! P.S. I would also really love to see a version of this for the Book of Boba Fett, I think that would be super cool as well.
This actually feels like a story worth telling, not like what we got from Disney. Keep up the amazing work Thor.
Thor, are Disney hiring? This is their chance to get someone in the writing staff who actually gives a damn about the universe and its consistency. This already sounds so much better than what we actually got. Can't wait for part 2!
Great opening Thor. As always, you do a much better job writing star wars than the people they have writing star wars. I put you right there with Filoni and Favarou.
Uuuuuugh so good!!! I’m groaning because this opportunity was SO wasted! What do we know about Obi from the Disney show that we didn’t already know? Frigging nothing! No character in it at all. No heart. The closest we got - and my favourite moment - was him discussing his family with leia and it was so fleeting. Sad.
This was honestly excellent. Pretty much nailed what I was hoping for when I first heard about the Obi Wan series. Please continue!
Have been waiting for Thor fan "fiction" to return. This is my favorite content on the channel, by far. Please go on.
This was actually really good and is moreso what I expected for the Kenobi series and or movie
39:54 Man, it's at moments like these that my cult sense really goes off. Not any fault of yours Thor though, it's been a common theme throughout the saga.
Maybe this is why the Jedi are flawed. They basically kidnap children at the earliest opportunity, indoctrinate them in their ways, never let them have attachments or relationships outside of the order. And if you try to leave the order, you are shunned and heavily criticized by basically your family at that point. No wonder Anakin was so emotionally vulnerable growing up. I wonder if things would of been different if they let people choose to train in the Jedi ways after they grow up and live a normal life. Then that way it's not so forced on them.
Not sure if Lucas envisioned them to be this way but it sure shows off as such. Btw thanks for your vision on this show. It seems interesting and would love to hear more!
The problem is that there are few options in the star wars galaxy. Not choosing the cult you risk more and more fallen jedi. While the jedi are horrible they are the best option
Fantastic novelization - I'm 13 minutes in and I'm already captivated. Following along the lines of the Kenobi novel (which is how the series should have been imo).
I like what you're doing with it so far. I GM the Star Wars RPG and it's become a mantra of mine that if you want to see a good Star Wars story these days, you have to tell it yourself. Glad to see others taking the same approach.
What I would give to have a room full of people like you while scripts are written. Your love for the lore shines so bright in these! Well done!
As per the usual with your stories, I enjoyed listening to your take on a story that could've been and look forward to hearing more installments/episodes/chapters or whatever you are going to call this series.
100% needed some Satine relevance! Thank you, Thor!
Only 12 minutes in and the writing is already on another level! Really great job and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest.
Edit:
Just finished it and oh my god. This is what I was hoping for when Deborah Chow promised (and arguably lied) that Kenobi is going to be more of a character focused story rather than an action one. Seriously, I'm blown away by the quality of this writing, it just shows how much you know about those characters, how much you respect them, and how much you love them. Really, really amazing job, and I can't wait for the next episode!
I loved the last re-write you did, and look forward eagerly to this one as well. Great job on the first installment!
That was exceptional! It was engaging, well thought out, and adds more depth to Obi-wan. Yes, by all means, please continue.
Fabulous job on this story told. It kept my interest from beginning to end. Looking forward to the next episode!!
Most enjoyable. I sat and listened to this like an audio book, and let the pictures paint themselves. I agree with other commenters that it's already a vast improvement over what we have from Disney. I like the 'lost romance' angle, and how that personal relationship, and its effect, is explained to tie in with Obi-wan's connection with the force. Kenobi doesn't yet have a true mission, but we can see he's already somewhat compromised and desperate, and this cues things up nicely for the yet-to-be-revealed true plot. The personal spin on things is what was really missing from the Disney version, and the tug of war between his longing for romantic love and his duty as a jedi is a great device to bring motivation and conflict later on.
Some might argue that having Obi-wan deal in anything romantic (even to be shown to be thinking about it) is too fan-ficky, but I think you've handled it skillfully and credibly - he is, after all, only human.
If you'll permit me to provide any kind of gentle feedback, I'd offer that one or two lines of dialogue could be a little more in-character. Qui-gon tends to speak more formally, and instead of saying "...and for a similar reason, I figure", he might say "...and I suspect, for similar reason". Instead of "You came to care a great deal for Satine during our time protecting her", it would sound more Qui-gon to say "You came to care a great deal for Satine while she was under our protection". Somewhat the other way, though, "Something similar happened to me while I was an apprentice of Dooku" might sound better as "Something similar happened to me during my time as Dooku's apprentice".
Amazing work, though - please continue - I'm fascinated to find out what happens next!
Really like this story so far! Love having young Obi-Wan flashbacks with Satine, their relationship never got much coverage outside of CW so it's sweet to get that here. This being Obi-Wan's series, I think it's important to focus a bit on what she meant to him. Also loving the increased role it looks like Quinlan will have in this version. All in all, can't wait for part 2!
