They're not making a documentary where there are actual facts that may or may not be all presented. This is a story she made up! Not showing details yet and then have a plot twist later is extremely common in almost all storytelling. Don't get me wrong, I hate everything about Disney/Lucasfilm, but are you honestly complaining about not having all the plot details presented linearly from the get go? It took George a while too before revealing beyond all doubt that Palps is the emperor.

II) 7th-- Revenge (ep.III) ** * 'Rogue One' is first b/c it's a perfect segue into 'A New Hope' and the characters who are all wonderfully written for that storyline die in the end whilst serving their purpose. This fact prevents the viewer becoming attached to the lead characters, and is introduced to the menacing villain, Lord Vader, in an epic & terrifying fashion. And finally, the overall aesthetic of the film has a nice balance between dingy/real, practical visuals and some CGI effects that current audiences are used to. ** Kathleen Kennedy's Disney "Star Wars episodes" are the most expensive fan-made films ever created. Each of them destroy what George Lucas' Lucasfilm made in Star Wars continuity & expanded universe lore, and simultaneously attempt to remake the Star Wars episodes (IV - VI) with poorly written script & screenplay, random new abilities, and blatantly added parallels. For these obvious reasons, the Disney-stamped abominations of films are omitted from the real 'Star Wars' experience.

Dude...seriously? They lay it out in episode 3. It isn't about good and evil. It's about power. These people are crazy. You aren't going to get a conclusion.

It has been established in comic lore that a good villain that believes he or she is on the right side and believes in his goal is more entertaining to the readers. There is nothing wrong with a well written bad guy centric story. If this show is supposed to reveal the origins of the Sith in these "witches" that's all well and good, even though it would appear that their all women creed is going to fall by the wayside sometime over the never 1000 years despite the Lucasfilm women's wishes. But a plotline where the witches think they are good does not make the jedi evil if they aren't. Writing them as evil in this show doesn't make them evil if there is a mountain of filmed evidence that they aren't. It's just cheap propaganda.

It certainly seems like the witches were engaged in some type of male sex trafficking for breeding purposes which has ended leading the to look for unnatural ways to continue their coven resulting in the two children who are the only offspring since they were forced to change their slaverious ways and live as outcasts.

I actually don't like people criticising that it's vague. You clearly aren't supposed to have all the puzzle pieces to the story yet and we should only judge the leadup after the conclusion. There's many negatives with this episode but not that. The weakly format did not do this series any favors.

The prequel Jedi made the classic mythological mistake that George Lucas borrowed from mythical figures like Osiris, that of thinking that evil can be defeated. Evil is never defeated, it only sleeps. Eventually the great king becomes complacent and falls into the trap laid for him. Jung, Campbell, and all that. Modern audiences, unfortunately, are on the side of Set and the wild lands. They want to see the guardians of peace and justice be overthrown. They have been lured and captured and are climbing into their own coffin.

Hey Thor, ...Not really a question, but...I think you're one of the most reasonable and fair SW CZcamsrs out there, but I feel like you're nitpicking things about this show that have so many possible reasonable explanations _that don't need to be explicitly laid out for any storytelling reason!_ I honestly don't think you're being as objective as you think you're being. I think this show is actually pretty exceptional. But that's just my humble opinion.

Thor, what a magnificent review. Without a doubt, your best video yet. Well delivered and well produced. I hate the ideology the writers and staff at Disney have stuff into an already preexisting art. It’s all very sad and it’s very depressing - but I can really appreciate the reflection of our times in it, as a continued form of art. These inserted ideologies are a sign of ignorance in our culture - and ignorance can be resolved with knowledge. And when they are, that’s a really beautiful thing. I guess that’s my hope for Star Wars going forward - that it reflects the human spirit (especially here in the west, where I and the people I love most are) in a positive light. Like it used to. Even a glance at the history of movies through the last half century show many, many women and minorities in popular leading roles in very popular movies and television. We, and I am including normal women, homosexuals and minorities in that we, only started groaning at the casting of women, homosexuals and minorities in movies when it became mandatory under the law that they display their oppression credentials. No matter what else is going on in the movie, no matter what the ostensible plot might be, no matter what their role is or how successful they seem. every one of them is also Drizzt Do'Urden on a lifelong, probably futile journey to escape the Capitalist Patriarchy of Pure Evil that they were born into.

The force is potent and you have to prepared to let go and be conditioned not to give into instincts like anger People are pushing for a “grey Jedi” who doesn’t have these problems which is really moving the goal posts. If such a thing becomes canon that could ruin this era of Jedi for sure as it would confirm that they were repressing other people’s emotions unnecessarily. Indeed people like to push the theory that Anakin didn’t fail the Jedi but the Jedi failed him Of course people also seem to forget that Anakin not only made his choices and gave into anger and selfishness but the Jedi themselves knew this would be a problem and were reluctant to train him I know in real life you can’t ask a child to devote his/her life to this intergalactic monastery but in this universe this mysticism is very real and, again, this conditioning is the only way to avoid personal corruption

The flashbacks may change in future episodes but the jedi will continue to act this way because they are bogus and flawed. I read the interview in Spanish and no the interview is not saying this what you’re basing this whole vid on at all. If you want to see a "The Jedi Aren't Perfect" storyline done well, check out the "Knights of the Old Republic" comics that Dark Horse released about 20 years ago. The main antagonists are a covert group of Jedi Masters within the Order called "The Jedi Covenant", who are obsessed with preventing the return of the Sith at any cost after witnessing the horrors unleashed by Exar Kun. And they really do mean *any* cost- they're willing to kill a group of five Padawans because a vision 'told' them that one would fall to the Dark Side. Only, instead of feeling desperately 'edgy, subversive, stunning, and brave', the story actually works very well as a Star Wars story. 1) The protagonist is still a properly heroic character, a scrappy and clever young Jedi Padawan who has to use his wits and determination to overcome the odds and sticks to doing the right thing even when it would safer to take moral shortcuts (think Jedi Spider-Man). 2) The ultimate 'message' is "Ends don't justify means, don't become so obsessed with preventing any potential of evil that you stoop to evil methods and become the very thing you swore to destroy." A very Jedi-like message in my opinion. 3) As a side bonus, the series completely rejects the idea of "They look like victims so they must be victims (regardless of the full picture of the facts)". The final boss of the main storyline is a character superficially similar the protagonist, but while the villain tries to sway the hero with the whole "The Jedi Order failed both of us" schtick, the hero counters with, "No. You failed the Jedi, and then tried to blame others for your failings. Individuals failed me. And the Jedi Order as an organization hasn't always flawlessly lived up to its ideals. But that doesn't change the fact that *I* am still responsible for my own actions." I don’t know how to explain it, but it just feels like really expensive fan fiction. Andor was leaps and bounds ahead…a great TV show that just happened to be about Star Wars. I wish more shows were like that

I'm beginning to wonder if producers and directors bother to attend film school these days. Unless there is source material ala Tolkien or GRR Martin, today's producers don't know how to craft a story. Viewers are asked to suspend belief and accept an incredible movie plot, a vague premise and trust somehow, everything will make sense at the end, the big denouement. Maybe that's why today's films aren't box office hits.

The problem isnt Star Wars. The problem is our shitty relativistic post modern culture in which values are based on nothing but subjectivity. We live in the dark side.
