    Clarification: Medtronic collaborated with DreaMed Diabetes, a developer of diabetes treatment and management software systems founded by leading academics, on the algorithm development of the MiniMed™ 780G system. Portions of DreaMed’s software was combined with algorithm developed by Medtronic.

    Thank you for the great review! One of the important features of the 780G is the adjustable rate of insulin delivery, 1.5u/min or 15 u/min. I am hoping that the higher rate of delivery will prevent my post prandial highs.
    I am currently in the process of upgrading from a Medtronic Paradigm 723 to a 770G. I live in the USA. Also it should be noted that the 770G is upgradable to the 780G via the internet.

    Tubeless Pump is a must for me so I use Omnipod, Dexcom G5 with Samsung S20+ & S3 Watch with readings that I find great. So not for me here in France. Fell out with Apple years ago after the death of Steve Jobs. Like your videos very much. 💖 Now for some log-splitting ready for the woodburner later, dropping cold here near Bordeaux.

    Hey there, I find your videos very informative, good work! 👍
    Please could you tell me what the best pump option is in your opinion/experience?
    Important factors for me are...
    1. size/mobility
    2. customizability (concerning the app)
    3. all in one option, least hassle
    4. the thing I can’t think of at the moment but you‘ll tell me about 😉
    I‘m in Germany (if it matters)

      Stick to the Tandem. I have had both medtronic and Tandem and Tandem is superior. The pump is smaller and nicer. The CGM is SIGNIFICANTLY better. The CGM is the most important part of the closed loop system and Dexcom is just superior in every way. Currently you need to calibrate the medtronic CGM every 12 hours and it lasts 7 days. The sensor is far more bulky and doesn't stick as well at the Dexcom G6 and is more inaccurate.
      I don't know how I can put it differently but Medtronic is generally trash.

    im so thrilled with this news, specially the guardian 4 info since with my adhd i always forgot to calibrate and therefore this type of sensor didn't do justice for me although the whole closed loop system works tremendously. so with this information i have the best of both worlds, closed loop with a sensor that doesn't need daily calibration two times. do you have any idea what predictions are when they launch it? i can choose a new pump in a few months and in the Netherlands you have it for 4 years so its a huge thing for me to be sure to choose the right one...

      I'm in the same situation here in the US. My Minimed 630g expires in 3 days and I'm due for my new pump. I've leaning towards the tandem tslim x2 because I already have the dexcom G6 sensor and love it. I know guardian 3 stinks because it's less comfortable and you have to calibrate often. I'm wondering when they plan to roll out the guardian 4 because I want the best pump and sensor cus I'm stuck with it for the next 4 years.

    • @YvonneBroeksma
      @YvonneBroeksma Před 3 lety +1

      @@caseywood5064 so frustrating that its 4 years with all those new technologies atm. it feels like a life changing tool and you're stuck with it longer than some people stay on the same job... tandem for me hasn't got enough possibilities so in my situation not an option certainly because my diabetes team is also open for looping

      My 670g expires this October, I've been offered to switch now already to the 780g but the 670g was a total (and dangerous) flop for me so I'm really nervous to just go with it now you know?
      On the other hand, waiting even more months while a new and better pump could help massively in getting me back into stable diabetes is a hell
      Did you go for it? If so, how are you finding it??

    Thanks for the great review. I love the 670G but the sensor is the weakest link. Hopefully the 780G sensor is much more reliable and at least competitive with the upcoming dexcom sensor/tandem system. Last I heard was that the 780 will get FDA approval and roll out in the USA spring of 2022.

    • @Lemonz1989
      @Lemonz1989 Před rokem

      Yeah, the 670G CGM was okay, but ended up being a nightmare for me. I was testing my blood sugar way more while having the sensor on than I did without it, because the numbers were so unreliable, which sort of defeats the purpose of a CGM. Also, ALL THE CALIBRATIONS were terrible.
      I got the 780G this week, and I couldn't be happier. I don't know if you've tried the Guardian 4 by now, but it's an amazing improvement to the Guardian 3. It's precise right from the get go, straight from the "warm up period" of 2 hours. I've only had to "force" it to calibrate twice this week, because it was off by 2 mmol/L (36 mg/dL), and that was only after prolonged inactivity, from having a migraine attack which left me bedridden for an entire day. It becomes more precise when you're active throughout the day, like walking around and doing your daily chores - probably because of the increased blood and fluid circulation under the skin.

    All of this because of our health system which blocks new products to do more tests.
    I have just embarked on the process with my program to have the 'latest' medtronic pump: the 670G.
    And 1 month later they released the 780G in Europe ... In Canada we will have access to it in 3-4 years.

    Had Dexcom, switched to Medtronic, after 4 years and fighting with insurance I am a dexcom lover. The Medtronic was not accurate for me, it was not comfortable, I would wear it closed loop and it would throw my sugars off not by much but saying I was 110 when I was 180 etc. I am five feet 108 pounds. I love my dexcom never will I switch from dexcom again. For those of you that have had a different experience I am glad that you find something that is working well for you. • @dwightl5863
      @dwightl5863 Před 3 lety

      IMHO: If someone told me that they had been diagnosed with type 1 I'd say go directly to a pump. When your Libre says you are going up you can easily give yourself a bolus to cover it. The pump is attached so no need to carry around insulin, syringes, etc or keeping track of a pen. Dosing is fast and discreet. Once your basal rates are set up the need to eat at certain times are far more lenient. Much more freedom in your daily life. I recently stepped up to a closed loop system (Tandem T-slim and Dexcom G6) and that has vastly made management must better.

    I was considering switching to the Tandem, but decided to stay with Medtronic because of their excellent customer service and the upcoming release of Guardian 4. The pump/CGM companies are always playing leapfrog with each other. Each knows what the other is doing and they know what we are looking for in a pump/CGM combination. One thing I did learn from talking with a Medtronic rep is that the FDA was especially tough with Medtronic because they were the first to produce a partial closed-loop system and they had Medtronic make changes (especially with the Alerts) that were more conservative than Medtronic may have envisioned at the beginning.

      Hi. I totally agree with you Sven. I am also wondering when more info is available regarding tidepool, dexcom and Medtronic 780 integration. Currently I’m using Medtronic 554 and Dexcom G6, and a pump upgrade is possible in the near future. T:Slim x2 looks also interesting but there’s no information when it’s available here in Finland. I been diabetic since 1987. Samma på svenska.

    From the US here, is the 780 the same as the 770 over here? Never heard of the 780 and the 770 is advertised as Medtronic’s newest pump out here. I might have it all wrong but looking to get on a pump for the first time. Thanks for the video!

      No, if you get the 770 it will be exchanged by Medtronic when the 780 is approved in the U.S.

    I really want to upgrade from 670G -> 780G and guardian 4 :(.... the 670H drives me up the walls with frustration; constant calibrations, persistent ‘alert before highs’. I can’t wait for the no calibrations and auto correction doses. The 670 will tell you when your approaching high... but it won’t tell you if your remaining high, even if you corrected and it didn’t work effectively. I just hope the 780 will allow more automation while also increasing time in range. Or I could go to the t-slim x2... that pump looks leagues ahead of the 670G!

But hey, this product is super. So much easier life after we got it. After some time (it needs to learn) we dont need to correct manually anymor. It is just so good! And most important, time in range is super duper.

Until they do away with finger pokes and extend the sensors operating lifespan it’s not for me. I still have nightmares over how poorly their previous sensors operated. Thanks
