I agree some comments about couldn't sing was not called for. He started the group. He must be doing something right to have lived this long, faith, clean living. God had blessed him. We forget years have passed this man don't look his age. He could teach all of us something. We are blessed to still have him among us. What happened to Melvin was sad car jacking. Being shot. I'm sure Melvin would gave that guy the car .Melvin's died from his injuries... I have nothing but love and respect for Dr Otis..hope he's with us many more years keep sharing stories with us. Y'all just thank God that he didn't succumb to substance abuse, a tragic ego, illness, etc....or else The Tempts would have ended back in the 1968, or 1972 or at whatever other time they had to endure changes. In Jacksonville FL after a concert with the Four Tops I was LUCKY enough to find out Otis is an AMAZING MAN bc he was on his way and almost off stage on the other end from me and after calling his name 2x he started walking toward me. I held up my hand and he shook it. Otis I can't begin to express to you how VERY VERY much that means and meant to me. Thank you doesn't even begin to cover it. I'm not asking for this bc I got to shake your hand but I would love to dance with you bc I can do so pretty well. Thank you for caring enough and being such a good person that you showed a fan effort when you could have walked backstage instead of coming back to shake my hand.
How can anyone complain about these men who still get out there and perform, bringing back memories of all the former singers we fell in love with. All these men are giving their best. Remember--the ones you love so much are no longer with us. Be happy Otis is still willing

Have some respect, without Otis there would not been no temptations. Plus we was told there was no one lead singer. Paul sung before David. Came along, as well as Eddie and others. Together all of them made it the group they was.David was a great singer and he had that dramatic flare. yes I remember all the original ones those who stepped in. But Otis the. Only surviving member. I'll say it again without Dr Otis the group would not have existed. Say what you will he did a good job choosing the members who became the temptations. Can't nobody sing them jams but Ruff, E. K., Denn Denn, and Paul, with Blue and Otis rounding out those angelic harmonies...sounding as if they were divinely lifted straight outta the Book of Psalms! These guys are more or less an "Oldies Act", channeling through Otis, which is fine. But time passes and all things must change. 1968 has come and gone. The Temptations as they were classically known and the time in which they created the magic will not, cannot, be duplicated only imitated; even though one of the five is still active. Temptation will always be my favorite group
Some of these comments. . .Hey, everyone has their opinion. Here’s mine. It shouldn’t be ‘only about the lead singer(s).’ Even when a lead singer leave a group to sing solo they still need have background singers or they sing their own background. A group is union of singers together. A group member shouldn’t be looked down upon if they don’t lead a song. When you hear and love a song from the Temptations, it the harmonies that is pleasing to the ears as well as the person singing lead. At least for me it is.
Thank God for the Temptations they came at the right time when we needed him the most they inspired our souls and lifted our hearts for so many years God bless all the members

I am a huge music lover and love all kinds of music including the Temptations. My only problem with the Temptations today is I understand Otis wants to sing and wants to carry on The Temptations a group he was instrumental in starting and founding, but there comes a time with everything when you have to say it's over. Before Dennis left and started the Temptations Revue there were still enough Temptations alive that most every song they would sing during a concert at least 3 of the five on stage sang on the original version. Now, they do mostly classic Temptation songs in concert and Otis is the only one that was around when any of them were recorded and it just doesn't sound anywheres near the same. I as a music lover am a purist and when I go to see a classic group that I grew up with I want to see or here what I grew up with and The Temptations do not sound like that anymore. There will never be another Melvin Franklin and no bass singer Otis could ever get will sound anything close to Melvin and will not do justice to the classic Melvin Franklin bass parts in 99% of the Temptations classics. I think we will all agree Otis did a wonderful job getting the original four members he got to sing with him when the Temptations started, and did a great job over the years replacing members as members passed away or left the group but since Dennis left in the 80s that has not been the case. We will all Miss Dennis Edwards and the other members of The Temptations that passed before but in my opinion long live Otis Williams but The Temptations need to consider calling a stellar career done.

" Treat her like a Lady" ,(written by Mr.Woodson and Mr.Williams) " My Lady Soul"( Ollie , was the lead in that song and many others) No disrespect to the late Dennis Edwards, he lead in many of their Classic hits, however, Mr.Woodson' s vocals, were amazing, as well !!!!! The raspy vocals, as well as those high hitting notes he would hit( like at the beginning of, " Treat her like a lady." the , " For Lover' s Only Album, which includes. a classic song, " Some Enchanted Evening" sounds phenomenal !! I love the fact that inorder to get into this group you have to be someone of good morals and values - a strong spiritual person and a true christian. Well not many if any are true Christians but at least exhibit some type of good beliefs.

Temptations are the best entertaining soul group of all time! All the lead singers were great. Dennis was my personal favorite. Each had their own personality/style that always fit The Temptations as an amazing Group!

Pity David could not get off the drugs and get his act together...............Pau was disenchanted............The Tempts started out as a group with five lead singers. They would write their songs but their songs were not accepted by Motown, who told them to concentrate on their singing and leave the song writing to Motown writers. But Motown soon push PAUL TO THE BACK and write songs mostly for David and Eddi as leads.......You all wondered why Paul ended up drinking. Otis did not mind doing harmony neither did Melvin, but Paul had a great rustic baritone voice, and he was underutilized.......So sad

Linda Hines Well he started with Otis and Melvin when they were called ‘the Distants’. By the time they named themselves the Temptations Richard was around but was singing with another group. They stopped, Richard stayed with Motown in the background learning sound and production, then replaced Paul Williams. According to what I heard.

For the folks who dont know, but all the Temptations could sing lead. Know who said this, Smokey Robinson. Only reason why Otis didn't sing lead on a lot of the Temptations songs, is because of Berry Gordy. I am guessing it had something do with, when Otis was younger he sound like another legendary R&B singer that was still performing back in the 1960s. Go look up Otis Williams lead Temptation songs. He had a smooth sound that is a cross between Clyde McPhatter and Johnny Mathis

Otis has a nice voice and his work in the background is outstanding. Especially in the classic 5 era when you could really hear Otis in the background. He did first tenor when Eddie was leading and he did second tenor when Eddie was in the background and he could do baritone. He was versatile and he was the glue that held the back together. I think it’s VERY stupid to watch this incarnation of the Temptations and beef bout Otis. Otis KNOWS this version of the Temps doesn’t come close to their glory days. He also knows hes not and never will be the powerhouse frontman David, Eddie, Dennis, Ali Woodson etc were hence why he gave them props in this clip! I will admit I’m amazed hes still keeping it goin after all this time. I hope hes doin it for fun and not necessity. Nonetheless, I’ll stick with clips of the Temps from '64-'71. IMO their peak years.

First of all he is the creator, the founder of the Temptations, he is also the reason that this group still to this days. It doesn’t matter if he can’t sing or not, to be there have to. Look at the history of the group, where are the others????? They were selfish and arrogants, believing themselves that they were the group, they were part of the group. Let me tell you something, he manage greatly the group and for that reason they still performing. The Temptations exist and still cause Otis Williams.

It's funny on every temptation video I see comments bashing Otis lack of talent. What y'all don't know, or maybe some do but refuse to acknowledge it, is this.
Those sweet harmonies you heard in their prime??? Otis was the glue. His voice was not lead worthy. He acknowledged that even in their prime. However, he had the best range, and best ear for harmony. Otis was the one that replaced each lead singers harmony part; from Melvin (bass) to Eddie (falsetto).
And example for those who truly didn't/don't pay attention is "The way you do the things you". Eddie sang lead the whole time. Listen to the top harmony, both recording and live version. Another example is listen to the live version of "swanee" when Melvin is singing leas on the first verse. The bottom harmony is Otis.
I agree with you, Otis is the glue that`s held this group together from conception. He is the one that saw to all of them getting to rehearsals and shows on time. he is the one that found replacement lead singers every time one left. Sure he was the least musically talented of the original Temptations, but he brought so much more to the table. he is the glue that`s held this group together all these years. As the last living member of the original Temptations, Otis is finally getting his time in the sun. Thank you Otis.

Not true. The one who sang on Silent Night is Glen Leonard who replaced Damon Harris. He was replaced by the current tenor, Ron Tyson.
