What a terribly powerful tale of lost potential , and the resultant despairing, vindictive & spiteful role so many women fell into as unhappy wives & widows .
The mother in the story is a type I saw & heard much of growing up in Ireland, the domineering tyrant Mother who stood in the window unsmiling and unspeaking , with cold eyes , watching for her batchelor son returning on time, at the same time, from work or the pub, every evening.
Choosing to martyr themselves in the cause of total control of any ill begotten offspring , rather than in widowhood to regain some freedom and practice some compassion , these women drove themselves and their unhappy family victims insane with misery.
Such anger and hatred!
This is a good story. Fantastic narration.
Thanks!
Who's Norman Douglas? Dunno but HorrorBabble pointed me that direction and I'm gonna find out!
Love the truly chilling character interaction! Thanks for introducing me to another author I'd never have heard about otherwise!
Cheers mate!
Thank you Ian and Jenn for your fabulous narrations of these Forgotten Weird Tales II. I listened to all of them in succession. I guess what I liked they all had a conclusion. Each one was special, different, and eerie. Have a great weekend.
" She knew everything and believed in nothing." What a great discrimination.

I thought my relationship with my mom was bad.....😂🤣
Excellent! This is the sort of storytelling that appeals widely to troubled youth of all stripes.
thanks for introducing me to another great story, Ian
Wow, very eerie and cool!
Awesome! Thank you so very much!!!
Brilliant story! Holds up today in spite of being 111 yrs old.
116 years now! I love this channel!
SUPER DUPER SHOW ! :-)
Very scary interesting! Thank you for your stories, sir !!!☻🖤☠💀👻⚰🦇🕷🕸
I have a creek bordering my farm that is like The Elf Water.
The lovely and talented Ms. Scorpion has impeccable literary tastes. I care for her a great deal , and when I grow weary with the neurosis which robs me of an inner monologue, I fancy her my girlfriend and the clouds part.
Bobby Marcum I would not have a beer with thou
@@maverik736 Indubitably. I dare say this comment should have remained an inner monologue.
Who?
One of us must die....
Holy shit! What a tale 🥰🦵🏻
I LOVE this series from Weird Tales writers!! They are the best at horror no onecan come close. Thank You Very Much!!
That is a really nasty story. Reminds me of Steptoe and Son
This kinda sounds like my mom
Lol that's awful
Oh, gee.
Damn.....
adverts in the middle spoil this channel
Thanks for pointing that out, Richard -- we're trying to tidy them up. I've removed the mid-roll ads for this recording. We're slowly making our way through the entire channel...
I have tried to listen to Morgan Scorpion but can't stand her voice. It's too bad because she has a pretty vast library of narrations. Thankfully I found Horror Babble. 👍
We love MS - she's an inspiration. We hope you give her another shot, Christopher! Thanks as always for your support over here.
I really enjoy Morgans unique voice and choice of content , she has an exceptional taste in authors. I am surprised to hear that anybody finds her difficult to listen to.
Why bring her up? Not reading this tale
🐐
Quite the timely picture of todays coddled youth....😂well done!
Did you remove your tales of fear video you posted a week or so ago?
Hi there! We haven't removed any videos recently. Can you remember the full title of the video in question?
HorrorBabble it was called tales of fear or stories of fear. It had a yellow background image. Was a compilation video
Never mind. User error lol found it
@@realism51 Excellent!
The background drumming is very distracting
Yet this comment is easily ignored
I didn’t even know there were drums
Next time use cable ties and ballast.
Tchoh - amateur !!!
