  • Ready to take your nap game to the next level?! Follow these simple tips to make sure you wake up feeling refreshed after every power nap!
    1. Find a comfy spot - If you need a nap, do it right! You deserve to feel comfortable. A nap in your bed is always ideal when possible.
    2. Keep it short - Aim for a 10 to 20 minute nap. Why? This provides restorative sleep without drowsiness after waking!
    3. No naps after 2 or 3pm - Napping after 3 p.m. can interfere with nighttime sleep. Individual factors, such as your need for sleep, your sleeping schedule, your age and your medication use, also can play a role in determining the best time of day to nap.
    4. Cool, dark, and quiet environment - It turns out that rooms with temperatures in the range of 60 to 68 degrees stimulate the production of melatonin, which encourages sleep.
    5. Skip if you have insomnia - Avoiding naps creates a sleep debt, which is helpful in falling asleep at night. That, of course, is every insomniac's main goal.
    6. Designate time to "wake up" after - After napping, give yourself time to wake up before resuming activities - particularly those that require a quick or sharp response.
