I suggest you add the water first and then the seeds will spread more evenly. I also grow mine in a window. They are green and beautiful. No need to put them in a dark place. Green is good.
Actually I put seeds in a water bottle and they grow sprouts, interestingly, they were all connected via the sprouts, I wonder why? Not one was apart. Some chia seeds didn't sprout but they were connected to the other sprouts so I ate them too. Yummy, awesome for digestion too
maybe because chia seeds expand and absorb water but this is just a guess

What material is your plate ? Does it germinate on glass and paper towels?
If higher temperature can be a problem with spoilage making the seeds not grow healthy and smelling foul, then can I ask you what temperature range are you growing at?...

I did this but I think I added a little more chia

Be careful using tin, it rusts easily and you will end up swallowing rusty metal. Better to use glass, ceramic or porcelain, it is also more hygienic.

Sprouted seeds are many times more nutritious as the veggies and beans that they can grow into.
When I tried this, after a few days, the water turned red, it smelled foul and there was white fuzzy mold on it. :( how do I prevent this from happening?
What steps did you do your chia seed growth process in?
Containers, Plates,Bottles must be clean! If not mold will grow (fuzz)

@@dreamcatcher-sd1jj you first grow them at around 60 degrees Fahrenheit or about 15 Celsius in a dark place for 7 days each day spray it with a spray bottle then when its about 8 days old you can transfer it to a bigger container and then put it outside if its 70-90 degrees Fahrenheit

@@parsin63 worked for me today im going to eat them! I got a glass bowl and put paper towel at the bottom. Wet it with the seeds on it. Then i put that Glass bowels inside a Giant ziplock bag and poked holes the size of my finger poking into it. Worked well!

They could be sprayed or treated with chemicals to prevent sprouting always buy (certified organic).
Where do you get your seeds?
They are just normal chia seeds you buy from supermarket or online

@@plantcept5455 有哦，我先杯子放水和奇亚籽搅拌均匀吸收水份，然后再另外有细小镂空的盘子里铺打湿的纸巾、铺奇亚籽，然后放橱柜里，每天我都有喷水，今天应该5天了😅形状完好无损，也没有气味

I tried 2 times... And after 2 days it became smelly... Could not sprout.. why?
Maybe the room temperature is too high, or too much water, try soaking the seeds for a day, and put them on a damp kitchen paper after
I soaked mine over night but next morning still looked the same

Try to put it in a dark and cool place ( like kitchen cupboard) for the first few days, not under the sun
