    For what it's worth. As I understand it, in the lore, the dragon claw puzzles aren't meant to be a clever puzzle to keep people locked out. It's meant to keep any draugr who might have happened to have picked up the claw key from getting through the door. Mindless undead creatures aren't especially good at solving puzzles, after all.

    Regarding the greybeards: it's not so much they have a vow of silence, it's just they can't speak without tearing people apart. Argneir is the youngest of the crew so he can still speak normally. That's also why he immediately obeys Einarth when he tells him to stop being a gonk.

    As someone who's been Skyrim for a little less than a year, seeing everything you were doing within the beginning from not picking the Breton to get the Conjure Familiar spell as a set spell, actually walking with Raloff and Hadvar and standing there when they cross paths to selling everything from Helgen Keep, even the Mage Hood that would've gave you the MP you needed to use the Summon Flame Atronach spell, I couldn't help but feel a hint of superiority.
    I've invested too much time into that game. And I found Willow only two times in the first round. Two in the second round.

      It is actually worse then you think. There is nothing keeping you from exploring the whole world at the start of the game after leaving the keep at the start. So once he got to whiterun he could have taken the carriage to the mage college and got free casting gear, a free place to sleep, food and drink, as well as a cheap start spell which can sometimes be the summon flame he bought in whiterun. ROFL.

    • @XDarkStrikerX

      @@Magziesfuntime One of my first few steps on legendary difficulty is to buy an orichalum ingot and a greater soul gem, steal some void salt from Whiterun alchemist then go straight to the Atronach forge. There's a broom there already, put the 4 items in the bin and craft a Storm Atronach staff right at level 1. You could just stay at that level and slay underleveled enemies for your atronach from there.
      That thing can also easily kill any encounters up until you get to level 14, by that point I already have the horse Frost and do the ''Night to Remember'' quest for the Sanguine rose to conjure a Dremora Lord. Then you're good for the entire game.
      Also not sure why he never went with Dremora Lords at all, which also work with Twin Souls. They're way more aggressive and damaging than Atronach from my experience. There's a very few encounter that can get through two of them at once.

LITERALLY NOT ANY KIND OF PUZZLE!
      According to the lore, the reason IS to keep the Draugr in. Without the claw it's impossible to get in (unless you rob a Daedric Prince) and with the claw you can then open the door containing undead even more powerful than what you fought to get there. You know, the smart thing to do.
      Keep in mind the Dragonborn is STUPID powerful. The vast majority of normal people who may attempt to delve these ruins would be DESTROYED by those stronger undead. It's basically an idiot filter.

    1. Bretons start with conjure familiar
    2. You should get Spellbreaker, as it has a ward that protects against spells
    3. You definitely should use the conjure dremora (?) lords
    4. If you didn't want to level smithing and enchantment, you really should boost alteration, at least to combo it with your armor. You were dying too often

    Liked the video but I have 2 small criticisms
    1: you said you won’t use glitches or exploits but the soul trap on a dead body is definitely an exploit/ glitch and it enabled you to speed run the conjuration skill making you stronger then you should have been kinda ruining the spirit of the challenge
    2: technically at the end alduin has to be killed by a source of damage directly from the player this isn’t a glitch it’s a feature, while I agree this shouldn’t invalidate the whole run it could have been a fun mention because this feature “failed” many other peoples challenge runs

    • @WillowPlaysGames
      @WillowPlaysGames  Před rokem +3

      I don't see it as a glitch or exploit personally. It's programmed into the game to work that way. A glitch or exploit in my opinion is something the devs didn't intend.

    • @norbertfinta8329
      @norbertfinta8329 Před rokem +5

      @@WillowPlaysGames an exploit is something that is possible in the game but (programmed into it) but gives an unfair advantage and I doubt the devs intended for you to be able to reach max conjuration by just standing over a dead body for an hr or two as that’s obviously not what conjuration is about

    • @WillowPlaysGames
      @WillowPlaysGames  Před rokem +4

      I'd consider the dawnstar chest to be an exploit, that's kind of my bar. sitting somewhere for hours doing something tedious isn't really an exploit imo. If it were then making 1000 iron daggers to level up blacksmithing is pretty much an exploit as well.

    • @norbertfinta8329
      @norbertfinta8329 Před rokem +4

      @@WillowPlaysGames Yeah 100% dawnstar chest is definitely an exploit. it’s literally just missing collision and it’s out of bounds. making 1000 dangers should level up your blacksmith skill since you are smithing something but the issue is how is “trapping” the soul of a dead corpse that shouldn’t have a soul inside it anymore considered conjuration as you are not conjuring anything? Soul trap shouldn’t canonically work on corpses since with the spell you are trying to capture the soul before it leaves to whichever after life it’s going to and once it’s left there shouldn’t be anything to capture, the only reason it does give XP is because the devs don’t distinguish between using it on a living or a dead NPC in the code making it an exploit in my opinion.

    I'm only a couple minutes in so if you figure this out later in the video, I apologize. From my understanding of how Skyrim's difficulty system works, it only affects damage DIRECTLY ON OR CAUSED BY the player. I know it doesn't affect followers and I would assume it doesn't affect summons. So a summons only run would effectively be the same on any difficulty as far as damage dealing goes. So I suppose that makes the real challenge here not getting one-shot yourself while the summon does her thing and dealing with managing survival mode. I look forward to seeing how you fare.

    There’s also a player home added in the Annivesary Edition called Gallow’s Hall that’s perfect for role-playing as a necromancer. It even has its own bone forge and you get the Staff of Worms which allows you reanimate a dead body to fight for you *permanently* (until they get killed). I used it on a Draugr Deathlord. Can confirm it works on pretty high level enemies.

    Something that can help with a run like this is you can get a staff of summon Storm Atronachs at lvl 1. Just get a broom, greater soul gem (empty or filled), orichalcum (ingot or ore), and void salt. Then go to the atronach forge under the college of winterhold and combine them. Just like that, you have one of the most powerful summons in the game at level one that you can use for no magica. Also, the summoning range on the staff is insanely high, you can put it really far away.

So they keep quiet so they don't literally Shout apart the mountain. (The Thu'um is *much* stronger in the lore than it is in the game.)

  • @samhall5096

    Mage robes increase mana regen and decrease cost of spells.
    Legendary difficulty is 3x damage taken.
    Magic damage is only decreased by magic resistance or negated by magic absorbtion. So you were raw dogging those spells, which is why you get one/two shot.
    Falmer and chaurus have poison attacks. This damage is...by far...the most lethal thing without poision resistance. You CAN get full immunity though, which makes them significantly more manageable.
    Ebonyflesh with perks will give you 300 armor on vanilla, which should give you like 40-50% resist to physical attacks and should make arrow damage manageable. You could do the alteration master quest if you wanted the full 80% resist. It is likely to have been better than your armor at that level, especially since i doubt you smithed.

    39:36 it's funny you call the Falmer inbred, because they probably are. They used to be snow elves, but were betrayed by the dwemer. They were forced to eat toxic fungi that made them go blind, were kept as slaves, and when the dwemer zero-summed themselves out of existence, the blind snow elves were trapped in their abandoned caves and cities. Eventually they devolved into the form you see now. Their history is pretty tragic.

    • @haku8135
      @haku8135 Před rokem

      Whether or not they're inbred depends greatly on how many of them there are. Or rather how many they started with. Considering there's quite a lot of them around now and they seem to actually even be getting SMARTER according to some parts of the game, they're probably not inbred actually.
      The reason they look so horrifying is because they live underground in the dark. Things that evolve in the dark generally look like nightmare fuel.

    • @samvimes9510
      @samvimes9510 Před rokem

      @@haku8135 hmm, that's true. And I forgot that they are known to come out of their caves at night and steal children, and a lot of dwarven ruins are connected to Black Reach, so they likely wouldn't be living in small isolated pockets.
      Funnily enough, since I wrote that comment, I've been watching some of TheEpicNate's lore videos on them. In-game historians think the falmer were used as slaves, but it seems more likely that the dwemer were actually experimenting on them, which makes a lot more sense. After all, why bother with slaves when you already have a bunch of automatons that can do all your labor for you?

    for your necromancer run since you don't use enchantment you should solve the murder case at Windhelm to get the necromancer amulet. Buying some good conjuration robes and hoodes at the college of winterhold might help too if you lack magicka. The quest of the dwemer museum in Markath also provide you with early dwarven armor.
    The quest boethia's calling that you get at boethia's statue provide you with the ebony mail, a free set of heavy armor.
    Also even if you don't use block having a shield in your hand give you +100 armor+the shield's armor rate. Dual casting summoning spells is not super useful so you may as well carry one.
    If you have the dragonborn DLC going to solstheim and doing nelioth's quest give you access to his staff enchanter. With it you can make a staff of summon dremora lord. Very good if you lack the magicka.
    You should regularly check vandors see if they have good stuff.
