I loved how Ben was "the dumb one" during the whole movie and when he was alone in the last room he was suddenly an analytical mastermind who knows after one glance what he has to do to crack the code

@Kause Draws Things That actually kind of fits with how he got the cube open in the beginning. He ended up solving it by breaking it, and that's basically what happened with the final escape room.

The movie is terrifying as hell because there’s so much of our greatest fears in it. getting trapped under Ice? Abandonment? Hights? Panic attack heaven.

In Greek mythology Minos is the name of one of the judges of the underworld. And is said to be quite sadistic.
They obviously allude to Minos - the king of Crete, the one from Minotaur and Dedalus&Icarus (two heroes even board a plane to FLY at the end) myths. The escape room is his labyrinth.

My theory is that the Minos game was yes a game for show but not for the rich but for Gods to be entertained by human intelligence and death . It seems like something Hades or Zeus would put the three judges of hell up to as a way to judge humans for the afterlife or to just downright fuck with them. Gods are just plain cruel in Greek mythology and usually find enjoyment from human beings or their suffering.
And it would explain why the entire building was cleared out so quickly with only one clue left.
@@ocandro Also Theseas kills Minotaur with the help of Ariadne I believe Minos daughter. Theseas was son of Aegeas some boss back in Athens (Aegean sea named after him) and the reason was that Minos demanded 7 boys and 7 girls each year from Athens to feed the Minotaur. Also Dedalus designed the maze and I believe Minos imprisoned him and his son Icarus they managed to escape by creating wings from wax and Icarus flew high near the sun that caused the wings to melt and him to die (Icaria the Greek island named after him). The story goes on and on

Good one. I was thinking they could have used the coat to help it melt. If it was me I would have used the coat and sat on the coat as it laid on the block of ice to make it melt faster. LOL! Plus they had the fishing rod. They could have pulled it apart and used the metal pieces to chip away at it. But that's just me. LOL!

The phone call wire didn't break, when they tried to save Amanda, Amanda let go, and then she fell.Thats why she said to Zoey while Zoey was trying to grab her, Amanda said "it's okay, it's okay" and then she let go.

The phone cord didn’t break. Amanda intentionally let go so the others could move on to the next room. She sacrificed herself, and it greatly effected Zoey. That sacrifice was the driving force behind Zoey’s determination to beat the game masters.
Every now and again you’ll get little details wrong in your reviews. I think it’s because you’re taking a lot of notes while watching the movies, so you might miss things sometimes.

Just a side note: In the Fahrenheit room in the beginning of the movie there was a news paper article stating that four teen girls were killed with in a real life game of escape room. The room caught on fire due to carbon monoxide leaking into the room while a fire broke out within the room causing a fire to start. This took place in Poland I think not sure but the news paper article is real

Honestly I think this movie was good, dumb fun. The ending was kind of dumb and so were certain other things involved. But beyond that, it was a decent movie if you just want to see some deaths and ‘splosions

Because defibrillators DON'T resurrect people (like movies and tv make you believe) doesn't fix cardiac arrest, only irregular heart. It's not a car jumper.

@@brittanyr9471 I'm no doctor but the fear, adrenaline and "shock" of being electrocuted do jump your heartbeat. Combine that with overweight then you have a recipe cardiac arrest.
The movie is surprisingly accurate in those parts.

I actually liked it. It was something different. It didn't score point with gore and blood, it was genuinely tense and exciting, and by the end it was something bigger in scope than I originally thought. I could enjoy this series more than that of Hostel or Saw. My only issue is that this Escape Room premise can't go much further. With the end though it could make for some interesting situations to escape!

Like the group of people funding the escape room games is actually the audience watching the movies in theaters. And it's not that each individual viewer is wealthy, but the combined amounts of money spent on tickets amounts to a hefty sum, so the viewers are essentially wealthy in numbers. I got the idea from what the FoundFlix guy said towards the end of the video about how we're just going to watch the movie to see who survives, who dies and how it happens. As for the organization maybe that could be the movie industry- specifically the part involved in the horror genre. And the head honcho of the organization having the name Yu could maybe be a nod to the fact that the viewers/audience (aka You) is the actual head honcho because the amount of people who actually go and see the movie are a good sized chunk in the decisions concerning continuing the series or not.
That was all probably a bit of a reach, but I thought it was a good enough bit of food for thought for people to chew on if they want. I'm not terribly good at going in depth on things I'm not heavily involved in (i.e. things who's fandoms I'm not a part of), but I thought I'd give this a shot

I have a theory. Danny is the real gamemaster. As he said hes been in a lot of escape rooms, and maybe he began to develop a sort of sick, psychotic obsession with them and created this horrifying game. Firstly, if you have watched the movie, you'd notice how when Amanda entered the elevator, Danny just came right in. He didn't even sign in with the front desk or anything. He even turned to exchange a look with the front desk guy, It would also explain why Danny was so keen on saying it is just a game, even after they were nearly burned to death. Also,he was the one who triggered the extra cold mist turbine thing in the second room because he just HAD to go far enough in that room to find where it ends. He made everything a whole lot more sufferable. His death, too seemed quite odd. Everyone else died because of a specific thing, but Danny just...fell. The ice just randomly broke underneath him. Not to mention, the most obvious part is that the lighter Danny carried when falling was THE EXACT SAME ONE that the guy at the finishing room gave ben to use. What does that mean? Hmmm.... I'm convinced.

That's why in the first room when zoey was reading the magazine said "five burned" see the deleted scenes and you will understand
in the nd the game master said "good to see Zoey overcoming her trauma" or something in the lines of that, that made me think that the prof was the master cuz remember at the opening scene he said you should overcome ur fears

This is only a summary, it doesn't substitute the experience of watching a movie. This is basically a glorified trailer with narration.

Also forget every other person who I've seen that leaves comments like this on every video that has anything remotely to do with movies. Dead meat, cinema sins, any journalistic "nerdwriter" analysis of movies has waves of people that just watch those videos, and think they've seen all that a movie has to offer. Most of the time the way these videos portray a movie is how *they* interpreted it as an individual, personally to them. So not only are you watching a snippet of a movie, but it's not even the movie itself you're seeing a glimpse of. It's like your watching a snippet of somone else's *perception* of that movie. Which is fine, but that should really be done after you've watched a movie yourself, sometimes two people can watch a movie and both of them could feel like they'd watched entirely different movies afterwards.
If you don't really care and you're just gonna comment something like "it's a joke dude chill" then save it lol. I'm just trying to let some of those people know that these videos are no substitute for watching a movie, movies have no substitute. They're a unique art form, and I just happen to appreciate that authenticity for what it is to me personally. Others interpretations are interesting to me, don't get me wrong. But like I said, that comes after. Listening to someone else describe a movie before you see it will affect how you perceive it, and that's important to realize.
Also I know I picked a bad video to do this on because escape room isn't the best example of artistic integrity in cinema lol. But it's really seeing this exact comment for the 1000th time that led me to say this all here.

Minos = The king of Crete in Ancient Greek mythology, who had the OG Labyrinth built to contain the man-eating Minotaur.
However, since the Minotaur was his step-son (gross story there) he didn’t kill it, but sacrificed young men and women to appease it... much like the Minos company does to appease their clients.
When the professor told Zoey to reach out to others over thanksgiving break, I hope he didn't have taking part in a dangerous Escape Room in mind unless he was part of Minos. That last part is because Minos must have people near each character to be able to have the puzzle box successfully delivered to them.

I would prefer it as a prequel, or interquel. After all, "Cabin in the Woods" ends with eldritch elder-gods destroying the entire damn world.

my opinion: honestly, i did enjoy the film at face value. even if they did intend for it to have a crazy twist and deeper meaning, i simply found it fun and entertaining. but just fun and entertaining, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re looking for that kind of film. it did it’s job well there, however i think the puzzles could have been much more elaborate with their solutions, and the ending felt VERY rushed and forced. as if they were trying to make the film much deeper than it really came across. i’ve done a couple escape rooms myself, and the puzzles were much more complex than those in the film. it makes up for it though with the dangerous elements i suppose. the “plot twist” is pretty easily guessed by most audiences, but again- for what it was, the movie is entertaining for a one time viewing.

Now hold on a second. The movie wasnt some saw and cube run off. It was based off the idea of actual escape rooms. People have build puzzle rooms to escape out of. This movie just made the concept deadly. I wasn't about to let you just say this was some Saw spin off because Saw was about paying for Sins of some kind(ish)
the idea of being placed in a room due to your background and forced to escape or you die can be used to describe saw, escape room, cube, and belko experiment. this movie was good, but far from original.

I don’t get Saw vibes from this movie & I’m a big Saw fan. It’s not original but I feel like the concept of using escape rooms- things people actually participate in- adds an extra concept. Plus in Poland the day before or after the movie was released 5 people died in a fire in an escape room.

i think danny is the mastermind behind it all, from his strange entrance into the elevator, to his floating away "death".who knows the water could've been fine temp no one felt it. his death was the only one that was possible to survive from everyone else's was confirmed. and they said his whole family died meaning he would have plenty of money to fund these rooms he is so obsessed with.

I was for the most part on the movie's side till it became "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" and ended three times back to back to back. It lost a lot of good will at that point.
I liked the movie personally, I didn’t get Saw vibes like everyone is. Saw was people who didn’t sign up for this, they were being punished. In Escape Room these people were Sole Survivors, and the ones that died were made to seem like accidents. The cops knew Jigsaw was killing people

Flaws and other stupid things I found in the movie
1. The cold room still had trees, you know, trees with wood you could've burned to create fire, with the lighter before it was lost.
2. The third room needed a doorknob, which would've been a great callback to the doorknob that fell off in the first room
3. Didn't they have a screwdriver? Even if they didn't, they could've picked at the ice with literally anything else.

The first is a strech since they couldnt cut the wood and needed way more fire than a lighter and it was snowing so very cold kill the fire and wet wood doesnt lit up but if they broke branchs and lit them up after drying them yeah thats a good one

Well.. its a movie.
I do like how it was possible for everyone to survive the first 3 rooms (even though, yes, someone died in 2 and 3, it wasnt necessary). So it's not like "oh haha, btw, to escape a room you have to sacrifice someone". Despite the fact that there was supposed to be one winner, only two people really had to die. The hospital room(and even then they weren't absolutely sure they had to kill the guy to escape that room) and the acid trip room. Since only 2 were needed to open the hatch, you'd only have to decide between 2 people to give the antidote.
