As a huge fan of beast wars II,galvatron was always one of my favourite designs from that series,especially his design and the idea of him being a triple changer from a drill to a dragon
That IDW Barbarian Warlord version...just damn. So cool.
IDW were always great at drawing good designs for the Transformers, sad that their license is expiring after 2022.
I'm hoping someone can make an upgrade kit for both Kingdom/Legacy and Gen Selects Galvatron that turns him into that design.
My favorite is the one at 19:23.
I also like IDW main design, IDW earth mode, unused GI Joe crossover, G1 movie, G1 cartoon, Galvatron Second, Robots in Disguise, Cybertron, Age of Extinction, Animated style, Forged to Fight, Earth Wars, Tiny Titans, War for Cybertron toy, and Reanimated.
I LOVED what IDW did for the character. I thought Unique Toys Maniaking, from the old days of '3rd party' toys was a good stand-in for it's time.
Maketoys had a Galvatron that was more stylised, but pretty close to the first IDW version shown. They haven't produced a design in ages, so let's hope they come through.
Personally Galvatron had always been one of my favorite transformers, and I know it’s gonna sound really basic but I definitely think my favorite Galvatron design has to be the first animated movie Galvatron. I dunno it just hits all the right points for me.
To be absolutely fair with the Energon design, in the original Japanese version Super Link, he STARTED the show as Galvatron, Micron Legend never had him change names.

Galvatron were one of the best g1 designs in my opinion,and one of my favourite transformers characters after triggerhappy and scavenger etc....,and I really liked his design,and he's probably insane in the g1 cartoon because of kiss players

Shattered Glass has to be my favourite. It just works so well and I am a sucker for helicopter blades on arms.
The GI Joe design got me thinking of Rhino Galvatron design; Rhino feet for well feet, his hands coming out the bottom of the front feet, and either the horns being the spikes on the crown or shoulder spikes.
Fun fact! In Japan, there is another Grand Galvatron who's a Combiner (Unite Warriors) that consists of Cyclonus, Ghost Starscream, Armada Thrust, Prime Breakdown, and IDW Roller. Cyclonus has the head of Galvatron in his torso.
i wanna see galvatron looking like his g1 version in a future trrransformers series, i hope he transforms into a cybertronian tank in a future transformers series, and i hope rik thomas voices him in a future transformers series
Great video. Although it is technically not a version of Galvatron, despite practically being him, I'm surprised you didn't include Unicron-possessed Megatron from the Transformers Prime movie.

My favourite Galvatron is the one from IDW. He's just a Galvs you don't want to mess with.

I grew up with AOE Galvatron I really love it despite it not respecting the original Galvatron but I still respect the original G1 Galvatron I also like the BW II Galvatron he looks awesome
So, no one's gonna mention Megatron from Transformers Predacons Rising? The don't call him galvatron at all in that movie calling him megs or unicron. It's basically megs resurrected and possessed by unicron . But I mean come on, it's totally Galvatron, like unicorn says megs can't join the allspark because of the dark emerging in his veins, so he wasn't dead, he was in a coma, just like in the first season of tf prime. Meaning he was reformatted,not resurrected/brought back from the dead. Like, if inicron wanted too, he would just make megs a mind controlled zombie,cause megs snorted too much purple meth back in the day...I mean injected himseld with dark energon. But he didn't make him an rc zombie or a terrorcon, cause megs was too badly damaged, and couldn't fly or fight as a zombie. Also megs spents 90%of the time being unicrons servant or rather a slave, just like in th 1986s movie. I know it's a different view on things but I just like that movie and this megs design so much. Like I just love the big spiky shoulder pads. that a nice callback tobthe 1986 unicron. They resemble those two big claw things which he used to shove planets in his mouth. And the spiky hand, big spiky shells overlaing each other like Roman armor or dragon's skin. Not the exact copy of unicrons hands of 1986 movie, but a cool redesign. And the horns, god I love it. Like the redesigned th whole helmet, and even face, new face skars new eyebrow. He got the plastic surgery aling with the new powerful body lol. I dunno, th e whole body gets redesigned and it feels fresh and new. He doesn't even has his fusion cannon or a sword, he just makes weapons out of dark energon. He just says I want a big hammer, boom a big hammer. It Like liquid terminator but way more powerful. Like magneto who bends metal with the power of his will is a child next to this guy. I know it's all unicrons doing, he is a a literal god, of course he can do that, but it's so cool. The jet mode is really awesome, and I love the overall gilded/rusty look. I know its rust, hes been at the botto of the oven after all, but it just looks like gold to me I dunno.
I really like how megs just disbanded the deseptocon at the end. Like learner the error of his ways and just flied away somewhere. Maybe to find peace within himself, flying intI the unknown regions of the galaxy. Being unicrons bslave for 1 day really helped himunderstand,oppression and tyranny is not the way. Like maybe he really though his way of ruling through tyranny was the best,

Because he isn't galvatron they are two different characters in that continuity
Fun fact: Here in Brazil who voiced hin in the 86 movie also voiced Shredder in the original cartoon, Secret of the Ooze and Next Mutation, two big villains in purple from the 80's.
I think the highlight of this video is hearing the occasional Discord notification faintly in the background.
Fun fact: In the original version Japanese of Energon (or Superlink), Megatron *is* Galvatron. He doesn't have the name change in Armada and just starts the new series *as* Galvatron. Then Cybertron happens and screws up the continuity as it always does.
I think my favorite Galvatron design is Energon. (Especially in 2D animation) It's very different but still feels familiar and that's what I love about it.
Personally my favorite Galavatron design is from Transformers Energon, because I can see Galavatron as a jet, and it has thr inspiration of G1 Galavatron
If you redo this list, please include the version of G1 Galvatron from Dreamwave's Armada comics (who was a herald of their dimension hopping Unicron)

i was expecting to see the transformers prime predacons rising megatron! i know they don’t call him galvatron, but he fits the story best of a “unicron upgraded megatron” type deal, and he has the crown we’re used to seeing

Actually when you upgrade Galvatron pig, his fusion cannon turns orange and like a small version of the G1 cannon, also you can buy or earn accesories for him, like his chest vortex or his sword

Ngl I love Bayverse Galvatron too and really wish they stuck to him in Last Knight but then again in exchange we got best Bayverse Megatron design so I guess it’s a fair trade it’s just a shame movieverse Galvatron was ultimately wasted.

14:06 it may not work as a Galvatron design but this is the one I remember fondly the most as a kid because it was one of the ones I used to play alot as a kid to be the "bad guy"

G1 cartoon Galvatron, by a mile. Took the Megatron design and made him a crazed samurai version, and a Triple Changer, at least the toy version did, he could become a pistol as well as a self propelled gun.
The G1 comic version made him completely insane.
And IDW's original universe (penned by the same guy who did Marvel G1) made him a separate character who was from a zombie universe

galvatron has a lot of solid desings, deformed ones aside
the baseline is iconic in all of his decos, with the kingdom(s) version being the ultimate retail toy version. dare I say even the battle-damage from the original deco make sense, which i firmly believe happens only one single other time (crosshairs and not his moldmates, only him)
on a side note, I blame the weird deco thing with the fembots. between arcee adn tyrannocon, a galvatron basically going commando under the armor make far too much sense to be healthy (and it raises even more considering cyclonus and scourge bare midriff)
AoE feels more like "supermegatron" rather than galvatron (and his veicle is motormaster). the transformation may be evocative og the GB comic
TR has a BIG weackness, it's an half-n-half between the classic and IDW. you can see it the most in FtF, as that's the same design pushed beyond the limits of physical engieneering, AND the exact reverse in HW. also, I can't help but see the that oversized crown from the development one as the one on the hasbro toy

Cybertron Galvatron fixed the one issue I had with Cybertron Megatron and that was the overly busy looking color scheme.

Honestly if the first one in the bad comedy category had colors it'd outmatch G1 for me tbh.
G1 has easily the best design of Galvatron. The Unicron trilogy are my least favorite Galvatron since their just repaint of Megatron that's it. Lazy.

I love WFC galvatron. Voice acting and everything. It’s been the first actual attempt to make them G1 and I understand the modernization of him and I dig it.
I kinda like how Prime Galvatron's design is sorta ironic considering that the word "galvanize" means to coat metal to prevent rusting, yet Megatron basically becomes covered in rust after Unicron resurrects him.

For all the things i don't like about movie Galvatron, I'll say one thing in high regard, he indeed looks like a mutated and evolved version of Megatron, or this version of him. And to me that's what makes Galvatron. The fallen angel. Even in g1, Megatron is defeated before becoming Galvatron, and Galvatron is so powerful he's certain that this time of course he'll finally succeed on a holy mission from Unicron, but ultimately falls to Rodimus Prime, having cannibalized his own troops. And thus the Gen 1 evolution happens and Galvatron is the new antagonist, but he's not a holy warrior, but a fallen angel, mad and starved. To me that's Galvatron, and i felt the movie version did capture that. But yes he should transform.

The Age od Extionction Galvatron would have work better as Motormaster with the rest of the Stunticons than a such a horrible incarnation of Galvatron, I mean the dude was a super powerful space cannon and in this incarnation he is a truck that dissolve and reatacched as dust

Shouldn’t the Energon Megatron design be counted because in Superlink, Megatron always used the name Galvatron and Superlink is the Japanese version of Energon.

I'll be honest, after seeing the anime version of Galvatron in Beast Wars, I'm convinced that Transmetal 2 Megatron in actual Beast Wars and Optimal Megatron in Beast Machines is that series version of Galvatron

I think there's really only 8 Galvatron designs. You keep including things that are really the same design in a different style repeating G1 multiple times over.
You also didn't even include one of the actual Galvatron designs.
G1 Galvatron: I like it more than Megatron. It is a canon though so it's still one of the worst Galvatron designs just cause he's not really mobile in alt mode which severly limits how useful the alt mode is.
BWII I really like this design and really wish we had gotten this series or at least the toys in the U.S.
RID2001 Galvatron, would like to point out that Megatron and Galvatron are in fact the same mold. It's not a retool. The Japanese versions Gigatron and Devil Gigatron was retooled however the American toy line used the Devil Gigatron mold for both versions so Megatron has all 10 modes while Gigatron only has 6. Anyway, I don't like that it started the trend of just repainting Megatron but I do prefer the Galvatron colors over Megatron and they at least intended to give him 4 extra modes even if Megatron can unoffically also transform into those modes anyway.
Armada: I really don't like this Galvatron. Of all the repaints this is the one where I actually prefer the original Megatron colors hands down over Galvatron. He's a pink and white tank, he looks like if they made a tank for Millitary Barbie.
Energon: first off let me just say that I don't even think he ever should have been called Megatron. And in Japan both versions are called Galvatron. "Megatron" is based on Galvatron's original toy colors while Galvatron is based on the Animation model colors. This represents the first time since G1 that a Galvatron has actually felt like Galvatron and I love this design. Even when it's not called Galvatron it's still the best Galvatron.
Cybertron Galvatron is actually the hardest figure for me to make up my mind which color scheme I like more. I naturally prefer the darker colors of Galvatron but he's also designed to look like parts of his armor were made from Unicron's remains and the original Megatron color scheme reflects that, a lot of the molding detail gets lost in the Galvatron colors.
AoE Galvatron, I hate it... it doesn't look like it even can transform, and the way it's animated makes it look like it's not even really there. On the plus side it did break the trend of Galvatron just being a Megatron repaint and was the first original mold we'd seen since G1 even if it wasn't a good design.
RID2015 gave us Galvatronus as a combiner which Combiner Wars technically did first with different limbs but I'm going to just lump them all together and say I actually really like Galvatron as a combiner. It's something new and different from just a Megatron upgrade.
Honorable mentions: Classics Galvatron which was suppose to be G1 but since the alt mode isn't his G1 canon mode I have no problem calling him A Galvatron but I can't accept him as a representation of the G1 design without his proper alt mode.
Prime Unicron Megatron I also feel should have been called Galvatron since Unicron is originally how he decomes Galvatron and Unicron did possess Megatron upgrading his body and bringing him back from the dead that this form really should be called Galvatron but isn't.
