I don't think Ramsdale, Viera, Nelson and some others thought it was an insignificant game, as they don't know when next they will be playing. The big question is what on earth is Havertz giving us, i really want him to succeed but he is testing the patience of most fans.

The Kai Havertz of Germany is better than the one at Chelsea. The Kai of Chelsea is better than the one of Arsenal. Something is not right in this guy's mind or physical development.

Hey Tom, with regards to Havertz, can you remember how long (number of matches) it took other players to get up to speed in this team? Odegaard was getting criticized for quite a while after he arrived for not showing up or being good enough. Maybe his story is what we should use as a measuring stick to determine if Havertz has been a waste of money (and patience) or not?

Feel it was a missed opportunity to try Havertz at CF again. The 8 isn’t working. Jesus is injured. So benching Eddie for him would’ve been a good test of his abilities there and then Eddie would be rested for Newcastle. Have to agree the risk on Havertz wasn’t worth it. Would’ve rather Douglas Luiz (depth in 8/6) or Kudus who can play across the front 3.

I think he would be a great link-up player with a top class No 9. I am sure he would be an important cog in the wheel going forward ....we would get the pieces necessary to make him tick coz his ceiling is very high.

Just talking about the midfield options. What about Mohammed Elneny He’s a very solid option defensive Midfielder he done it before

Thought havertz was one of our better players against westham tbh but i would prefer to see him in the CF role or the right 8 rather then the left 8 I feel it would make our playing out from the back better would also allow us to replicate Raya to Toney that was so effective with having havertz up there (not that that should be our only option but it’s a good option)

I'm very impressed of Arteta and his young Arsenal team, and I'm not at all on your level in football knowledge, but I'm interested and think that it's possible that Havertz have been a part of Artetas, in my opinion a little too hasty decision to make the team more unpredictable. There Arteta among others maybe had thoughts of Havertz in Ødegaards role, with the captain in a more offensive role longer foreward like he should try in the games he struggled with a hip injury. But Ødegaards great strength is playing in a little deaper midfield position where he has the field in front of him with the creative ability to make key passes that in cooperation with his great team-mates can decide close matches. Overall I think maybe the changes to make the team more unpredictable instead can make the players unsure, and that this young players should be allowed to play on their strength from last season to increase confidence and mental strenght that was under pressure at the end of last season. I wish Havertz all the best, he has showed some progress but need some more time. In my opinion it's important that Arteta doesn't change too much in this young team that played so fantastic last season. Of course Arteta has probebly control over all these things we are so interersted in, and that he also will prioritize how his young team shall gain the highly needed strength when things are boiling in the last tight games of the season. I wish all of you great luck with the Newcastle match, fingers cross.

The loss was less about rotation and more about balance and cohesion. That midfield of Jorginho, Havertz and Vieira was akin to a chocolate teapot: not fit for the incoming duels they would face, or the added transitions once West Ham scored. Everyone with eyes, including Tom with his preview team, knew that Elneny was needed alongside Jorginho if Rice was to be rested.
I am also done with Zinchenko. His failure to track Bowen in the play that led to the corner for the first goal, but is also identical to his role in Havertz’s CL final goal. In a defence of giants he is an obvious weakness that is targeted. He is only in right now because of Timber’s injury.

out of the team that started Havertz started the brightest. How ever he dint stand out at all. And I can't think of a game we're his come close to deserving a place in the team. I even question if his good enough to be in the squad. At this stage I'd rather see a youth player on the bench. Or play Zinny as the number 8 and Tommy left back.

Will defend arsenal a bit here with this performance and the rotation, I think it was just one of those games where we weren't quite on it and everything that could go wrong did, first goal was an OG and a foul on ramsdale anyway, weren't west ham 1-0 up at half time and hadn't had a shot? The 2nd goal wasn't a bad goal but the first touch from kudus if you look wasn't what he was intending and the ball then goes straight through Gabriels legs, 9 out of 10 times that miss control doesn't fall perfectly and the shot is blocked, the 3rd is obviously a deflection and if it's not deflected it's going straight down the middle and ramsdale just catches it, we had nearly 80% possession, better XG, better field tilt etc so I don't think it was a horrible performance considering we mad so many changes and west ham played at near full strength. We didn't play any of our 1st choice midfield or attack, I think we have been a bit unfortunate with the teams we have had to play as well, 2 strong EPL teams.

Ben White own goal: apparently defending the near post has gone out of fashion, even though there is no upside to abandon it. If you have a defender at the post, there’s no way a corner kick is directed to the near post unless you have a runner that has to get there before the man at the post. This goal wouldn’t have happened with good old fashioned defending nous.

The question is what do you guys want from Kai ,are we looking at Kai as the same way we viewed granit role last year ?? If we are then ask are we playing the same way which I don't think we are. Now i would suggest looking at the tifo football video it seems that arsenal is trying to be harder to beat this is probably where Kai comes in better off the ball but we lose ball progression that's where our issue even the directness we lost combination of no partey and xhaka

Other then Trossard there ain't a great deal to bring on up front. Jesus, saka, martenelli. Are far better then anyone coming on to replace them. With exception of Trossard. Still need a good window of getting players out and better players in the squad.

Tom, you talk so much about how long it took Ødegaard to show his best form at arsenal. I wonder if your opinion has been shaped by the dark cloud that surrounded his sign. And i think you question arteta's ability to transform a player. If you trust arteta like i do, you'd be very hopeful that havertz will come good like Ødegaard did.

We've invested in depth, numerically fine, quality is still an issue. I simply don't believe Havertz was part of "the plan" because we needed a centre midfielder and he simply is not that. The only games where he has been half decent have been when he's been used as a quasi target man.

Kai has been poor for Chelsea for years and the transfer was 65 mil, it is such a risk to take and the belief that he will become a great player for us because of what happened to Xhaka is wishful thinking. That could happen but if it doesn't, it begs the question as to why Arteta took such a risk for so much money and a guy who has failed to impress for years at Chelsaa
