The days of the one "one reelers" turned out by independent studios by the hundreds for a public that went to "the pictures" once a week.
Well, this is about 6 one-reelers as a one-reeler in the old days was 10 minutes.

I was 12 years old in the mid-50's, and enjoyed seeing her movies on TV. I took a lot of ribbing from my friends because I liked her and thought she was pretty.
Why are so many videos posted with a bloated lateral aspect, making everyone and everything look ridiculously fat and wide? What in blazes is the problem here?
That's been a problem since the early days of TV. Different mediums were used to record the images, and with primitive equipment the results were highly inferior to what the established movie studios had been doing for years. 'Videotape' holds up longer than the old celluloid film, but is of far poorer quality. THAT is what you're seeing and justifiably complaining about. I don't like it either, when I'm stuck watching something of poor quality that will endure. Go figure.

Poor quality print of a good quality movie. Zasu Pitts deserves better.
