I've lived here for 53 years. You got off the interstate and headed directly into town which is the historical section of Spartanburg. You completely missed the area directly off the interstate, the Westgate area. That area has the mall and many larger chain stores and restaurants. There are many low income areas around Spartanburg but are few and far between. You missed all of the nicer areas of Spartanburg and all of the nice people. That's what makes Spartanburg "Sparkle City". You passed by the Beacon restaurant which famous people once flew in by helicopter to the field that once was across the street, just to eat her. You drove right by NuWay and missed their awesome "Redneck Burger. You chose to eat at Mr. Gatty's which is horrible but drove right by Venus Pie which has the best, mouth watering pizza, in my opinion, in the state. If you come through again, instead of pointing out the bad points and making our city look bad, find someone that knows the city that can really show why our city "Sparkles".

Spartanburg is a great place to live. Great how? It's cheap. But not cheap in a bad way, however in terms of travel. Have a job in Greenville? Commute from here. Fantastic food and nature. Most of Spartanburg is pretty run down although there are some nice neighborhoods if u know where to look. The people are pretty nice unless they are driving. Spartanburg has some nice places to eat and the downtown area is kinda neat.
The older generation is or has died out so a lot of homes have become government housing there. Its still cool though and its not ran down like it is in parts of my home city. Its good
I go the beacon all the time! It’s one of the best places for food here. I’m in a nicer part of Spartanburg but the area you drove through is known for a bad place to be. Behind the beacon is what makes pretty much all the crime rate of spartanburg that’s really bad. Most of spartanburg is beautiful and boiling springs is very nice and suburban part of spartanburg. Country club road is another nice part of spartanburg!
The West side of Spartanburg has Saxon, Park Hill & Highlands neighborhoods is the hood, but not even the highest crime rate in the country. Also left turn lanes should be used.
I'm not originally from Spartanburg, but my husband is, so I have been here since 2011. It is a lovely town. You should really get someone familiar with the area to show you around. You unfortunately took the not so scenic tour. Those "projects" may have some shady characters, but it also houses some really nice people. We are having an extremely warm December this year. You should come back for our Spring Fling festival or next December for Dickens of a Christmas. Y'all come back now, ya hear! 🥰 Ps. You should have gone to Pizza Inn, much better 🍕.
Im from Spartanburg. I moved to Charlotte 2011 and came back a yr ago. He wouldnt been able to drive thru Highland and stop once anytime before 2005....06. Spartanburg has its moments but its change for the better....well until they finish building the new Highland. 4 housing authority developments just on Baltimore and Wofford St...Thats not going to be a good thing but its sadly understood
My town is not as bad as you made it seem in this video. Those “projects” you rode through are currently in the process of being torn down; that’s why it looked that way. You were able to drive through with no issue, so the “hood” is not as bad as you make it seem. Next time you come, have someone that is actually from here take you around. You’ll be able to see the growth better. The people aren’t bad either; maybe you should talk to some before you judge.
Torn down. Let's talk about the racism in your county and dirty law enforcement butvlet me tell you I support law enforcement. I had a issue, incident with law enforcement not far from the beginning of the video. He pushed and shoved me. Nwver knowing my military background. 198th Infantry Division originally. Way to go to the city for degrading people of color. Just like most well all cities and towns in South Carolina .I'm glad they called it like they seen it. The Truth
Yeah i walk around at day or night no problem. Yeah im legally carrying but i havent had an almost incident in years...10+. and 10+ yrs ago i wasnt a "role model" so thats expected. I love this city and the pride we have. Oh yeah...Go Cavs🥇💯💪🏿💪🏿
Spartanburg is a very nice city that is moving forward. It has been growing over the past 20 years . It has identified it's flaws & began the process of equal housing , racial boundaries & ways to connect. Lots of employment & many fun places & restaurants of authentic culture food to appease anyone. You really haven't seen Spartanburg. Beautiful homes are all over.

Ps. I forgot to mention one of the other places I lived was in Southern Florida in Hollywood-Ft Lauderdale 3 years, and I was in my Miami actually the Hialeah area for about 3 months I can't believe you guys talked about the crime rate in Spartanburg compared to South Florida there isn't one. Also had an uncle that lived in Gulf breeze and I've been up and down the west coast and the east coast of Florida is kind of like a second home state but a lot of great places about Florida but give me Spartanburg anytime the best of all worlds here.
@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I don't think your number are right 😂😂😂. You barely hear bout sc on the news. Flip the news on there's another crazy fl man done did something and died or went to jail.
I have lived in Spartanburg for 43 yrs. Born and raised. It is HOME. Also, there is alot more to Spartanburg than what you see in this vid. They decided to ride through Highland aka the hood. There are "hoods" in every state.
I saw a murder at them apartments just passed the spinx…the dude came back after the cops had showed up and he sprayed the place…it was terrible…that whole strip is riddled with violence…no place to be after dark
This is my home town. When I was little we went out to eat at churches chicken and she got robbed. They pulled a gun on her in the restaurant then come to the car and reached over my baby brother and stole her purse. We was all gonna go that night but I stayed at my grandpa's and my brother thst was 2 at the time went with her and my aunt. I'll never forget that phone call . But that was years ago. We got some good places here. Just like any place we got some bad too but I love it.
Don’t feel bad a lot of ppl pronounce it kinda wrong. You have passed the famous Beacon but it’s not so famous now since the owner and the caller passed away.
Sad thing is homelessness is outrageous in Spartanburg so sad but they try so so hard to get some people back on there feet some just don't care but all honesty every city every county has fools attached in it of course
I felt like you guys (based off comments) tried to capture the gritty raw side of the city as if it’s the worst state you could Imagine and as a person living here I have to partially agree to that cos I was raised in these sorts of areas highland, Norris ct. Bethlehem Dr were all in my pov places that were “crime oriented” or more grittier than most places and I’m not too fond the city mostly because nothing’s really here and also there’s no career jobs for artists like myself another problem I’m being faced with is homelessness you walk or take a drive you can barely turn ur head before you can spot a homeless man or woman I’m not complaining these ppp need help ofc it’s just sad anyways it’s just place where you’d go when reach retirement age or you wanted to get away from that hustle and bustle of the city like nyc or nj but this is city is…quiet depending on The area that you’re in 😅 the burg is growing but slowly a place of hard work that will grant you rewards but on the other side of things despite my issues and it’s flaws the place is beautiful there’s some nice spots I like to go to think from time to time so isn’t bad? Ig you’d have to Live here to get that answer urself….
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I understand that too which is why am not really upset of the point your trying to make with this video so yeah Spartanburg isn’t the place to live In a nutshell I can tell you cos I grew up here not opposing the video I trying to convey my issues with living here ik what I said but this “rapid change” isn’t benefiting the ppl who can barely get by with house prices going up and food cost soaring I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone that’s not finically stable….
Spartanburg is making an effort. The opening of the Piggly Wiggly grocery store this week in the south side “food desert” is something that the city worked very hard at for several years. Much has been done in recent years to replace substandard housing in the city. Spartanburg also has a unique program called Hello Family that aims at improving health outcomes for the low income population.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS But your disaster of a stay outside of horrible, run-down Montgomery is? Bruh get out of here! …Why am I even working my thumbs monetizing this $hit channel 😅
Those projects are about to be demolished, they are building brand new as you film. Did you drive thru Greenville? Spartanburg is a very nice town,I moved here from Florida & would never move back. It's the friendly people here for me. I just moved to Spartanburg from the Bronx NY been here for three months...the mother of my two kids moved here to be close to her family so I moved down here to be closer to my kids because I was missing them so much 😔 Spartanburg is very quiet and the people are very friendly I do like it but with no family or friends here it gets lonely all I do is work and go home but I get to see my kids on the weekends so I'm happy with that
@@Mason42192 I've met a few ppl from NY here, mostly driving Uber & Lyft,I also have relatives from NY that just moved to Charlotte.Spartanburg is slow but in a peaceful way,It's more family oriented then again so is Greenville but more to do there. if you want action you're right at Greenville and not far from Charlotte.
@@charnacharna3981 okay I will hit Greenville up but Spartanburg is dead the only good thing about it is the cost of living....the mother of my two kids moved to Spartanburg a year ago so I moved down here to be closer to my kids if it wasn't for that I would of stayed in the Bronx
Well that was 35 minutes of my life down the drain....Spartanburg offers a fair cross- reference of America...you have slums and you have marvelous affluency...you can make it hell or you can make it paradise. Spartanburg is perfectly set between the mountains and the sea with a marvelous array of arts, science, and industry. In so many ways, I was blessed to have been born and raised there. It was Mayberry, with Ward and June Cleaver. It was my palace, my kingdom, my world. This goes to prove that you can give a monkey a camera and even they can make a video!
I have over 15 friends laying in they’re grave and none of the cases have been solved. Spartanburg is also known as The Murdaburg but it’s mainly my people. 😔
Thanks for your tour through spa-en_burg cause you know that's how we say it! I've never said hey it's spar+Tan+Burg lmao gotta be Southern. And if we need to say it correctly we will but for the main bang you know how we do it. ❤️ Let me know when you come back to Greenville SC.

I just moved down here from Vermont couple weeks ago. Such nice people, super nice area. Every area has its low income housing making it a shit area, but still it’s a decent town. Police are chill, super friendly.
The Beacon is a pretty famous drive in place. Locally famous. My company has a facility in Spartanburg and I was pretty disappointed by the city. Most of the employees seem to live in the Greenville area, which is nicer.
@@worthyrival2602 I can believe that. Had a meal there and it was quite good and the people there were very nice. It was surprising that it is in such a rough area, but it was not bad enough to make me feel uncomfortable going there after dark.
Spartanburg is not a bad place to live at all. Yea you drove through the rougher parts but it is definitely not one of the worst by any means. Not even close.

You successfully missed most of the nice places in the city. If you return check out Wofford College, Converse Heights neighborhood and Hampton Heights neighborhood. That "project" is now 100% boarded up with zero people and slated for demolition I believe.
As a person who calls this place home, you have an entitlement like the rest of the world to show the Chosen Ones as a disgrace. It’s in Our Book how you people from Esau hates. Look at how you conveniently show one off the poor to start your segment, yet in the video you shout out those who I think you’ve taken advantage of to support your channel. My people built this world and has been blessed because of my people. It’s Our Most High that allows these blessings that the rest of the world continue to go down this path of hating us. I mean really “shout out to those who have real projects.” You should be ashamed of yourselves. You can’t help it, because you have been conditioned to have your white supremacy ways.
I didn't like how this video made Spartanburg seem. Yes, it does have flaws like any other city. But it seems like the video was just about pointing out poverty and the poor areas of the city. No offense, but you can see a person who knows nothing about the area was quick to point out more negative things, instead of trying to notice positive attributes.
You hit mostly Northside when you was at churches bust that right go on down church street until you get to Pete's bust a left on palisade come on down to Southside

Its good
I love this area. I’m looking forward to going back sometime soon
Was there when he sang that song. Also when the bar got shot up that night! Can tell you all kinds of history
Next time you eat there, dont forget to take blood thinners.
Spartanburg is very nice and as long as you are not going where you know trouble is you will be just fine.
What if you dont know??? Like i was just there for the first time
27:27 is an very quiet neighborhood nothing goes on over there now back in the day it stay lit in the hoods in spartanburg
The West side of Spartanburg has Saxon, Park Hill & Highlands neighborhoods is the hood, but not even the highest crime rate in the country. Also left turn lanes should be used.
Southside converse is were it's at
I'm not originally from Spartanburg, but my husband is, so I have been here since 2011. 🥰
Ps.
@@ashleyparker1396 everyone we know goes, usually during the day, lots of families and family activities.
@@ashleyparker1396 🤣 thank you, I'm pretty adventurous like that!
i like this place thb ,looks interesting
My town is not as bad as you made it seem in this video. Those “projects” you rode through are currently in the process of being torn down; that’s why it looked that way. You were able to drive through with no issue, so the “hood” is not as bad as you make it seem. Next time you come, have someone that is actually from here take you around. You’ll be able to see the growth better. The people aren’t bad either; maybe you should talk to some before you judge.
I had no idea we just drove into town and this is what we saw. Nothing wrong with the projects its a place to live what is wrong the rude
You see they ain't go out to Una where they could see ppl like themselves.... They wouldn't be ready for that sight
Stop trying to defend the hood.
THAT WAS THE DEFINITION OF THE HOOD

@4:43 Rapid Fried Pizza. HA, Its Rapid Fired Pizza. My kids love that place.
its not that bad i stay in greenville but i have friends there and its really about what side of town your on
Traffic looks great. No Maniac on the road.
Thank you. You are so right. It's moving forward.
Spartanburg is my home town! Just like you have a home town.it is not a bad place.the way yall talk sounds like you all live next door .
Spartanburg is the armpit of the south as my father would say and is also a native of Spartanburg. He now resides in Montana.

Hialeah murder is 3/100k. Spartanburg is 16/100k thats about 5x more
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS that’s not true lol

mauldin has great colombian food
I have lived in Spartanburg for 43 yrs. Born and raised. It is HOME. Also, there is alot more to Spartanburg than what you see in this vid. They decided to ride through Highland aka the hood. There are "hoods" in every state.
Great video guys. May I ask what camera you have mounted in your car. Thank you again for a great vid.
We use different cameras depending on lightning conditions we have go pros - iphone 13 pro max and a few others
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Thank you!
I saw a murder at them apartments just passed the spinx…the dude came back after the cops had showed up and he sprayed the place…it was terrible…that whole strip is riddled with violence…no place to be after dark
You guys passed the Beacon they have nationally famous food there stop in for one of their famous plate o plenty or world famous banana splits
You should've kept going straight at the library, you would've hit the SOUTH SIDE
😃
This is my home town. When I was little we went out to eat at churches chicken and she got robbed. They pulled a gun on her in the restaurant then come to the car and reached over my baby brother and stole her purse. We was all gonna go that night but I stayed at my grandpa's and my brother thst was 2 at the time went with her and my aunt. I'll never forget that phone call . But that was years ago. We got some good places here. Just like any place we got some bad too but I love it.
I dont understand the hate coming from the comments just my first impressions

I remember the caller when I was young he was a blind dude
Sad thing is homelessness is outrageous in Spartanburg so sad but they try so so hard to get some people back on there feet some just don't care but all honesty every city every county has fools attached in it of course
Cc's is a great place to eat it's also affordable
Born and raised here. Been here for almost 30 years. It definitely has good and bad areas lol
I from Spartanburg I left in the beginning of 2000
Spartanburg is Nicer than Gaffney by a long shot !
🤣🤣🤣
Don't forget my friends the Marshall tucker band
There is crime and bad parts of every city. I picked up and dropped off Medicaid patients in the roughest parts of the city and never had trouble.
Y’all go straight highland for what ? You legit passed right through one of the sides in the the Burg 😂🤦🏽♂️
I live in the burg. Towards converse it's okay
Ig you’d have to Live here to get that answer urself….
its our job as youtubers to show the raw crap. thats what people wanna see. SC isnt exactly the best rated place after all
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I understand that too which is why am not really upset of the point your trying to make with this video so yeah Spartanburg isn’t the place to live In a nutshell I can tell you cos I grew up here not opposing the video I trying to convey my issues with living here ik what I said but this “rapid change” isn’t benefiting the ppl who can barely get by with house prices going up and food cost soaring I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone that’s not finically stable….

Those projects are about to be demolished, they are building brand new as you film. Did you drive thru Greenville? Spartanburg is a very nice town,I moved here from Florida & would never move back. It's the friendly people here for me. Everytown has a hood or two and oh yes Everytown has the projects.. 🤣✌🏼You wouldn't just get randomly shot at ,it's the people at the club ,ppl who have beef with other ppl they know .high crime like in Orlando,FL but that's not happening to most ppl daily, that's not how crime works. 🙄
We did see both those towns
The cases won't be solved when the enemy is the governmental but to superficial asa wouldn't see that.
The Beacon restaurant is gross. It's like a 1970 truck stop.
Finally someone told the truth
We would call it the Sparkle City and you are on the west side where you’ve exited off.

The beacon is the only thing in Spartanburg that brings ppl here. Greenville is nicer but it's too much traffic
@@worthyrival2602 I can believe that. Had a meal there and it was quite good and the people there were very nice. It was surprising that it is in such a rough area, but it was not bad enough to make me feel uncomfortable going there after dark.
