I just got a ridiculously nostalgic feeling watching this video. Not sure why. I've watched countless bike videos the last few months. Got that same feeling I got in the late 90's when I started Mt biking and customized my bike for the best experience. Thanks for that !!! 😀
That's exactly how I set my Jones bars up and they work well. I could have sworn Jeff Jones recommended putting the brake levers all the way up towards the weld? I experimented last year with a couple of hooked shaped bar ends and I put them on my Jones bars up to the welds and position them at a decent angle and tighten them down. I then put my brake levers and shifter levers up against these bar ends. I also wrapped the bar ends in the same kind of tape as the Jones bars input plugs in the end of them. I don't think I have any pictures of the setup anymore but it mimicked a Moloko bar, sort of, and definitely gave you a neat little hand position although it looked kind of wonky.
Im glad its working well for someone besides me! Maybe JJ did but for some reason I thought he recommended putting the brake an inch or two down from the weld so you could place your hand on either side of the lever. Interesting, thats pretty cool. The Moloko is a neat set up as well, I like the idea of the bull horns, did you prefer that extra position, did you ever use it? For long, long rides I would like to think its helpful. Cheers!
Honestly I never did go on any rides with these bar ends attached other than around the block. They did feel comfy though and added another dimension of hand positions. It was an experiment and before I ever took it on another decent ride, I put my cow chippers back on. But since then I am now back to Jones bars without the bar ends. I think for a really long ride they might be invaluable
@@coryedd3783 I agree, I will have to try that at some point. The cow chippers seem nice as well, I have the wood chippers which are quite similar and really like those.
I commute year round and have owned, destroyed or had stolen a variety of bicycles over the past few seasons in an attempt to find the perfect fit and Jones H-Bar Loops have been a constant throughout that search. I wrap my bars in the same fashion as you describe in this video, but add either poly padding or multiple layers of leather handlebar tape to allow my hands a little relief on those long commutes over bumpy roads and cracked sidewalks. The only CON to owning Jones H-Bar Loops is they're easy to spot and that thieves love them. Note: lock them to your frame.
Starting at the other end on the closer bar and wrapping up to the top allows you to start without needing to tape both ends. Also the edge of the tape is on the bottom of the wrap instead of the top. See the video:czcams.com/video/Lqly3gO--cE/video.html

Originally I didnt like them on more technical trails but at this point I do feel they are pretty comfortable. It does bend the wrists a little more than regular bars but I have been good with them!
I ordered s painting of these but they appear to be s different make . Getting my dropper post and breaks and gear shifter in the right placement I'm struggling with. Its my first time to wrap handle bars and reseting the brake/shifter/seat drop. Mine done say jones so I think they are nick offs
@@RyanSarka mine have an 8 on them I think they sent me fakeloops handle bars because that 45 degrees is missing I and putting them on my roscoe 6 trek. I found really great seets made by "Selle Anatomica" I like it way better than the brooks Brothers the Brooks Bros doesn't have the hole cut in the saddle so I'm putting it on my cannondale.
I liked it a lot, so far its working very well for me! The first race/tour I did with them was 260 miles and I only had light hand numbness the very last hour or two and it was gone shortly after finishing the ride. I'm not aware of the Velo Orange setup, whats that?
Can someone send me a link to the handle bars in this video so I can put the others on a different bike. And get the real jones bars like you have there can someone e provide me the link for those specific jones bars in this video.

Did you put on a shorter stem?
Im using a 60mm, Im not sure what stock is but yes this is shorter. It works well for me.

Those are just the stock Shimano levers. Sorry I dont know more about them haha!
