Hi Creepyani...I just measured the Pak o Bird that my Panama Amazon uses for walks outdoors. It is 17 inches high, and 13 inches across. From front to back, at the base, it is 13 1/2 inches. It arrived with a metal perch, which we still have. But it also had a wood perch, so that is better for my parrot. (less chance of slipping off) I purchased the bird pak years ago, and at first Freedom the Parrot was scared of the color. (Parrots can see all the colors that humans can.) I generally don't keep him in the pak more than 2 1/2 hours. We walk generally 1 to 1 1/2 hours April through October, 2-3 times a week. The carrier only weighs 5 pounds, so I just hold the handle. It is equipped to wear as a backpack. I tried that once, and it worried my bird. So I just switch the carrier from one hand to the other, from time to time, while walking. Remember if you drive to a park to walk with your bird, to place the carrier in the back seat, and strap on the seat belt! Treat your parrot like you would a young child, and place them in the back of the car because of the airbags! I did have a white cage to walk my parrot in, which was nice for visitors to pet him. For long trips in the car, or vacations, it is best to have a strong metal cage with 2 perches (one across, and a shorter one up higher for sleeping). I always think safety first! You can bring along the Pak o Bird too, as it folds down. Oh, one last safety measure: I leave the Pak o Bird set up all the time, so I put safety pins to connect the zippers at the bottom. You have velcro that goes over them, but I don't like to take any chances. My parrot is fully flighted. Lastly, I recommend all parrots, as well as cats and dogs, to be microchipped. If you order the Pak o Bird, tell them you heard about it from Freedom the Parrot! Have a great evening, Karen Marts and Freedom the Parrot
